Apparently these were preproduction/prototypes. They both have handlebar mounted gauges and the Sprintfire has no cover over the cylinder heads. I believe the production models had traditional hood mounted gauges and the Sprintfire had a cover over the heads. Interesting seeing what Deere was experimenting with. Brings back some great memories. Thanks for posting!

wow snowmobiles have sure come along way since this i remember my first sled was a 82 srv with leaf front suspension these are some great old sleds

Polaris Bought John Deere out in around 84 and told them they were going to keep it running the way it was but shut it down after buying it
