i don't like this style, cause most suzuki-trained (read: asian) pianists are more into precision and HIT THAT DANG NOTE SO THE AUDIENCE HEARS IT and they lose expression. however, these pianists aren't even precise with each other.
It's not Debussy that was the problem. First of all, bad microphone recording, as often is with non-studio recordings. 2nd, the pianists are not listening clearly to each other. 3rd and finally, Debussy was the jazz composer of his time, almost equivalent to 12-tone of today. If played properly, with studio controlled recording, and musicians that know how to play Debussy, I would rate this great, but without the proper subtleties, yuck.

Nevermind the hater. :) I thought yu guys were excellent. IM studying history right now and Debussy had the dissoance that you guys had and i thought it was played with passion and was definetly not Bach music. Bach music was all tic toc tic toc. terraced dynamics. This performance was balanced. Great JOB. :)
what the hell is this? Debussy is all about color and that is why this piece was conceived as a work for full orchestra. Nice effort, but it's like playing Bach without ornamentation or Brahms without chromaticism.
what a peculiar opinion. was Liszt a fool, wasting his time in transcribing eg a Wagner opera or a Beethoven symphony because the piano can't match the musical forces of dozens of players?
obviously there is some textural compromise here but there's still a huge value in hearing what remains in terms of melody and harmony. also, debussy wrote plenty of piano music; i don't think he felt the instrument was unable to produce color on its own!
well considering that debussy wrote his own transcription for two pianos of his own work, he obviously did think that piannistic quality could bring out his work, so you re completely wrong.
Some of Liszts transcriptions to piano are amazing works. Not only that, but have proven to be very useful throughout households and on the professional stage.
This is awesome. Ignore the hater. Of course it doesn't sound the same, but that's no reason not to do it. Aren't you glad Debussy scored the Gymnopédies for orchestra?
There is a two-hand transcription of this piece by Leonard Borwick you can find at imslp . org (for example), but I can't play it at all. I imagine you can though. I'd like to know what it sounds like someday....

Utter Crap
Dont get me wrong the pianists are excellent, amazing even but the piece is just sickening.
Debussy's disgusting composition made me feel as if my ears were bleeding.

I thought both the transcription and the performance were done surprisingly well. It's amazing how well the piece translates to the piano.

Einmalig. or Unique.
There are no rules for such a thing.
A piano transcription is always permitted.
One of my favorites.

See the most comic and pedantic comment below, oh!!
Get your tickets here:
"Color" oh!
"ornamentation" oh oh!
"Chromaticism" oh oh oh!
(One more rub and you will either swoon or climax.)
