Car Tech 2010 Kia Forte SX review

Wow. Two out of three minutes of this "review" are dedicated to the car audio...Err, aren't there a LOT more important things to study in detail, like powertrain, engine, long-term reliability etc.?... I don't drive a car because it has music, you know. In fact I WOULD buy a car I really like even if it had NO audio at all or the worst audio in the world. I wish, car reviews were done by mechanics, not by actors and salespeople...

If you guys can, get one with the Nav package. Its worth it since you also get smart key w/ push button start. The iPod integration works really well with it too.

The Forte SX hauls ass off the line. Sure it doesn't have the greatest mid range punch to climb SF hills, but come on...It is probably the fastest car in it's class. But then again, what would a bunch of CNET tech geeks really know about cars other than it's tech...

All Kias are just nice looking shells with no substance underneath.. I'm sure Japanese or Germans can place a thousand more gadgets into their cars but what they did not forget is that they are out to make great cars.. not to market with gadgets and make money. I hope more people will support good brands so that cars will improve. The Koreans will just pocket the money and wait for a new design to copy. Everyone please think twice before buying one of these. Cheers. =)

I own a 2011 LX, it's a great car. It's one of those cars that puts a smile on your face when you drive it. If you like to shift, I recommend the 6 speed manual trans, on a trip recently I averaged 40mpg! I prefer a manual trans anyway, especially in a small car.

I hear ya, but when I'm in the market for a new car I'd like to see a review about performance and reliability. Soundsystem will be retrofitted anyway (subwoofer, nice amp etc)

I bought this car 4 months ago...I love it to death. The IPod connectivity is not quite...functional...but since I use the usb port, I don't care that much. The radio has trouble reading the ipod info, and does not load the tracks in the order you have them in your ipod. Put your music on a 10 dollar, 4 gig usb drive, and it's money.

A wonderful car, at a great price. Wish I had 4 hands, so I could give it two thumbs up, while I eat this sandwich.

@NorthernFirehawk I just bought a 2012 of the same make and model, trunk space is HUGE. seriously. you could fit two huge suitcases no problem, with room to spare. its really that large. not even my brothers 4 door sedan volvo has as much trunk space. also you can push one of the rear seats down to get an extra couple of feet putting stuff in the trunk. I am about six one, and I dont drive like miss daisy, but I put my seat in the middle, not too far back. passengers have plenty of room

@NorthernFirehawk if you like to lean your seat back or are very tall then it might be a bit cramped, but like i said Im six feet plus and passengers in the back have plenty of room. I didnt like the way the lxf or ex handled or drove, but the sx has got some power (173 hp)... car has some get up, and power, for such a small car. feels like a beefy sports car would feel if if were half as powerful, but I mean that in the best sense. gas mileage very good too

Ok seriously, I used to drive a Dodge Neon (I loved it) and now I drive the Forte SX coupe and the Forte is worlds better! This guy is obviously biased. Kia has come a LONG way. I chose this over the Ford Focus and the Honda Civic. Given the Forte is a VERY new kind of car, only time will tell if they can compete or beat Honda when it comes to durability and longevity, but they already have them beat when it comes to trimming and features, in my opinion.

@richardxs I rented a Forte this past summer & was very impressed w/how it handled & it also had a lot of get up & go for a smaller car. I'm actually considering buying a used one next year if I can get a good deal on one. Now, I also drove a Rio as a rental and hated it, so comparison between the two is pointless. The Rio was a bare bone vehicle and did not seem to be made well; very cheap, but the Forte was as nice as some more expensive models (Toyota, Honda, etc.)

@thatkoreandude The Koupe is more expensive for sure but it is more a sporty car and obviously is faster that the forte four doors (the koupe has two doors) ...If you want to impress go for Koupe...in fact I want to go for that car in a future (two more years with my forte and then I will go for the koupe)

geez...why can't people just give credit when it is due...its been a long time coming, but it seems korean cars are starting to compete. i mean back in the 70's people were talking a bunch of smack on japanese cars, but now they are probably the most reliable and fun to drive out of them all. in like 10 years, korean cars will be considered just as good as american, japanese, and european cars.

I agree, people do the same thing for ford. I just say ford because ford is the most reliable out of the big 3 according to tests. But yea i agree, hyundai and kia are starting to get good cars, mainly the new ones are good but all the old ones are pretty bad imo. But yea the new ones are good.

Yea i know, I have test driven a 2010 fusion i4 manual. Was very fun. Best car in it's segment imo. Same will go for the 2011 edge and 2011 mustang.

@mrtomdabomb40 Umm, as good as "american"? I don't think you meant that! American cars fall apart after a few years. My family always bought Fords (cheap), but they always had problems before 100k. Fords are so ugly i.e. focus (except the RS). I'd buy a Kia before any american, Honda, Toyota. The optima is so much better looking than the competition (for the money).

sorry about that that forte forums is garbage. They are run by corporate assholes. google "kia forte forum" They also have about 200 members and are a way better forum. I don't really see a competition between the forums. It is just that we all started around the same time.

My plan was just to start a community for the car it just happened that a bunch of other people had the same idea.
