I fail to see the predatory portion of raising parking ticket fees. If you break the law, you pay. No rocket science there.
$55 for breaking the law is not out of line for the average income of Oakland CA residents, which is well about the national average. $55 would be out of line for most towns in the USA where incomes about 1/2 to 1/3 of that in Oakland.
I can understand the anger of residents holding a dozen unpaid parking tickets. Simply STOP collecting them by parking legally. Duh.
@pshinspection Spoken like a true leech of taxpayer money. Work for a city doncha? Apparently you dont get it. Apparently you didnt even watch the video. The political pigs in Oakland were using parkign to make sure they could get their salaries paid. They raised the hours for parking. They raised the prices for meters. They raised the fines. They installed more meters. They ticket on street cleanign days, yet the streets sweepers never appear. AND YOU THINK THATS JUST OK?
Best thing I ever seen whereas citizens standing up to City of Oakland. Ever since they put the meters up to 8PM I no longer dine in Oakland. My wife and I travels to SF, Berkeley and other various city to dine and shop. There you go city council and mayor of Oakland...kiss this.
Oakland hasnt been the same ever since the parking went up. I even heard rumors that eventually the city will also ticket people on Sundays. Damn! I want to attend the next meeting.
Some times I believe that I can run the government better than some of these fools. As a California high school student, I have to tolerate several budget cuts that frankly could be taken out of something else. I have some books that are almost falling apart, and the teachers are living off of microscopic wages. California has a huge budget problem that could be handled better, but the people up in Sacramento fail to compromise a way that would benefit the budget AND the citizens. Damn them!
I'm glad someone stood up to them. What they did was disgusting, and I can understand why someone would be angry. Does anyone know where I can read more about this?
you get paid for whistle blowing?? OK IM GONA HAVE TO BE THE WHISTLE BLOWER ON THAT !!If something is going on that is wrong. you shouldn't need to have to tempt someone with cash !!!.. in fact the real problem that is going on is the use of cash in the first place. ITS COUNTERFIET !! RUN BY A MOB !! AND IS JUST PIECES OF PAPER WITH DESIGNS ON IT TO MAKE IT LOOK OFFICAL.. WAKE UP AND SNAP OUT OF IT !! IT IS JUST AN ILLUSION !! THINK ABOUT IT! YOUR TRADE IN LAND FOR PIECES OF PAPER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
