  • Does anyone know the egyption like sound that plays as Dragonite approaches the light house? I tried Shazam on my iPod but couldn't identify it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Just re-watched this episode on VHS, has always been one of my all-time favourites. Though I don't recall this particular song being in the episode... unless it was in the Japanese release?

  • Lol if I were in that pokemon universe I would kill off the team rockets

  • That's a huge ass dragonite

  • I can't beleive nobody knows this episode is inspired by Ray Bradbury's The Fog Horn.

  • I think this particular Dragonite should have reappeared. Like one mysterious Dragonite which is powerful or something.

  • One of my favourite anime episodes of all time. I miss being a kid and watching the entire first season of Pokemon...

  • I found out it was supposed to be Lugia from a friend and Lugia makes the same cry that Dragonite makes in the Pokemon 2000 Movie. They might both be whale cries but it makes sense that both of those Pokemon are the only two Pokemon that make that noise in the show. Also another guy told me he found out from a Pokemon Magazine that Dragonite was originally supposed to be a Legendary but later changed into Dragonair's evolved form which is why Dragonite looks different from Dratini and Dragonair.

  • @sunblade223 how do u kno?

  • This episode made me cry when i was a kid. Just how eager Bill was to meet the Dragonite and how Team Rocket messed it all up, felt so sorry for both Bill and the Dragonite.

  • It's quite haunting, isn't it?

  • Dragonite owns

  • Que bonita melodía.

  • Oh, it's so beautiful...

  • there was another song in this episode, when Bill started to talk about this mysterious pokemon (dragonite). I can't find it anywhere! And it was in some other episodes as well! D:

  • I don't know if I should squeel for it's cuteness, or to hide in terror cause it watches you at night...=/

  • this episode is so good, dam all there newer version seem to be missing a theme too it, i like how the older versions have themes like friendship, good thing i was a kid during those days

  • i remember this episode...bill was talking to the giant dragonite through sounds then it eventually came to him and team rocket scared it away

  • Dragonite is the non-legendary Pokemon potentially most powerful on Pokemon universe. This giant Dragonite should be more powerful than Arceus.

  • @EricCarrF arceus is the god of all pokemon and you cannot kill or defeat god

  • @chuggajonsun It was hyperbole, sir.

  • SO...FUCKING...CUTE!!

  • What episode is this I remember when I was a little boy I saw this?

  • So sad.....

  • how come they didn't know it was dragonite?

  • this happened to be one of the three episodes i had on vhs... oldschool ftw! :P

  • Where did you find this theme, and what is it called, exactly? <3

  • hey I just saw the episode but the song when dragnonite appears is way different from this one... any answer? :S I liked more the one from the episode :P where could I find it??

  • this episode made me "HATE" team rocket... even until this day

  • @opoptimus

    You know it! OH YEAH!

  • i think it grew big like dratini the pokedex entry in unova says that they keep growing so i think thats wat happend... but why did dragonite get scared it could of hyper beam murdered them... thumbs up if u agree

  • Back then, no one had seen or heard of dragonite, i wish dragonite was a one of a kind pokemon, it would've made sense to make it a legendary

  • omg i remember this this music scared me when i was a kid

  • they should do the final episode of that giant dragonite

  • In the next episode the pokedex notes that a tiny Raichu can knock down a Dragonite with a Thundershock...

  • Would love to see it fight with lugia Imagine the hyper beam on that thing. x.x

  • 1 Why would a dragonite be living in water?

2 Why didn't it fly away?

3 Why is it 3 times bigger than the light house?!?!

  • @300tunes

1 It was searching for a friend and it probaly thought it could find one in the sea-.-

2 Maybe it was to heavy to just fly away...

3 It is a giant pokemon "duh"

  • @Kakarott191 1. WTF? What was it searching for a kyogre or a whalord? (All 3rd gen didn't exist yet)

    2. There wings expand when they are ready to fly.

    3. All pokemon have their Average Hieght and size...

This my friend is a legendary Pokemon!!!

  • @300tunes Ofcourse its a legendary pokemon dude! Im not saying its not!

1 They actually said in the episode that it searched for a friend, they never said what sort of friend.

2 Can you prove that he can fly? Maybe he was to heavy like i said!

3 Its true that every pokemon has their avarage size! BUT!!! It has been many times in the show that pokemon can be bigger than its ordinary size! T.ex. Bruno has a giant onix, it was a giant tentacruel in ep 19 and a giant bulbasaur in ep 102!

  • @300tunes Okay dude! I will make it clear for you!

1 They actuallt said that it was searching for a friend in the episode! They never said what sort of a friend... And it could never find a kyogre! Kyogre is an ancient pokemon!

2 You have any prove that it cant be too heavy to fly???

3 It has been shown many times in the show that some pokem on are oversized! T.ex. Bruno has a giant onix, it was a giant tentacruel in ep19 and a giant bulbasaur in ep102!

  • @300tunes .... You realy dont get it do you! First of all, ITS A CARTOON SHOW!!!

It has been shown many times in the show that some pokemon are oversized! T.ex. Bruno has a giant onix, It was a realy giant tentacruel in ep19 and a giant bulbasaur in ep102!

  • @300tunes Maybe... But its shown many times in the show that some pokemon are oversized! Like Bruno has a little oversized Onix and it was a Tentacruel 100 times bigger than its normal size in episode 19!

So its not a legendary pkemon just because its bigger than other normal Dragonite!

    But it may be legendary...

  • @300tunes Maybe... But its shown many times in the show that some pokemon are oversized! Like Bruno has a little oversized Onix and it was a Tentacruel 100 times bigger than a normal tentacruel in episode 19!

So its not a legendary pkemon just because its bigger than other normal Dragonite!

    But it may be legendary...

  • @300tunes Well, all pokemon does'nt realy have an avarage size... It has appeard alot of other "giant" pokemon in the anime... Like Bruno has a gaint Onix, a giant Tentacruel appeard in EP019, Gary has a giant Krabby, a giant Magicarp appeard in EP092, a giant Bulbasaur in EP102, a giant Charizard in EP134, a giant Sunflora in EP135 and many more So i guess that proves that that Dragonite is'nt legendary because of it's size, unless all the other pokemon i've listed up are legendary too:P

  • @Kakarott191 So why is it living in water? Why doesn't it fly?

  • Comment removed

  • @300tunes Well, in the episdoe where it appears, Bill says that it looks for a friend, and it probaly tought that it could find one in the water, and why it did'nt fly... Wel... He maybe it does'nt think that it can find a friend in the sky:P And it does'nt realy "live" in the water, it travels around the world in search for a friend!

  • I always knew what it was but I haven't whatched the season in 10 years

  • i thought that this episode was only a dream!!? i never knew it was real no seriously i thought i dreamt about this Giant Dragonite because i never seen or heard of it since this episode of the first season

  • dragonite belongs on dragon tales

  • I remember watching this episode as a kid. Those were the glorious days...

  • This dragonite was supose to be called dragoneye(in japan translated) an it was to be legendary a guardian of something the japanise pokemon yellow game has this pokemon but in the us you cant get it so it ends up as missingno.but like arcainine it supose to be legendary an evolve from a stone the pokemon company just cut it from the episodes an games

  • Is there a longer version of the song?

  • what episode is thgis

  • @King0fHarts the episode is called Mystery at the Lighthouse thumbs up this response so everyone can find it

  • its only a ilusion of a hurt stantler =D

  • This is beautiful.

  • i remeber this epsode ages ago i watched it and i thought........ wauw are dragonites really that big?

  • Yea why is there a giant Dragonite anyways?

  • is there ever more info on this giant Dragonite? i wanna learn more!!

  • imagine a game with this guy.... oh Sh*t

  • That dragonite..Is Lances dragonite-Read about it in The Pokemon Manga! No idea why its not with him though..

  • dragonite can own any pokemon

  • I read on Wikipedia that this particular Dragonite was a giant pokemon and also an unknown pokemon before "Mystery at the lightouse", that's why in this episode Bill called Dragonite simply "pokemon"

  • They should make a movie about that dragonite.

  • there is another theme before this one, and it always plays when someone is telling a sotry or a legend, I cant find that theme :S (I like it, it sounds like a mistery and epic song of an old legend xD )

  • lol Dragonitezilla

  • It's like Godzilla size

  • thats a big ass dragonite in the game dragonite is about 7 feet 3 inches tall but that1 is about 20 feet tall why is that one so tall how come all you see is the blackness and its glowing eyes

  • I'm guessing you never watched the first season of Pokemon? It was a giant lighthouse Dragonite that only came out rarely, it wasn't a normal one. Bill (the guy with Ash), was studying him and then Team Rocket scared him off with missiles or something. Its a little foggy in my memory, but it was something like that.

  • @MrNommington Nope, it was EXACTLY like that. I'm surprised, I don't usually remember much about episodes from Season 1. Then again, I'm watching them all, one after another, and I'm up to Season 6 :3

  • o.o i remember this episode xD

  • lets see fuckin salamance take on that dragonite........salamance would get pwned

  • @blaze2fury COOL GUY

  • yea whhy is this dragonite so large compared to say lances?

  • Comment removed

  • Dragonite's wings expand when it takes flight

  • Why was it so huge ?

  • who knows why

  • thats what i like about pokemon, theres all these weird pokemon that only show up once and then never seen again but leaving wondering.

  • because that Dragonite is not an ordinary Dragonite......its a Dragonite that is a Guardian of the Sea and Legendary Dragonite.......Thats why.

  • Comment removed

  • this dragonite is diff from the usual dragonite??? no wonder in pokemon episode or movie there is huge n normal size pokemon

  • but i thought dragonite was legendary at its normal 7'3 height and i read it leads lost boats and ships to safety

  • it was never explained

  • This episode is like nostalgia explosion to me, as I'm pretty sure this is the first episode of Pokemon I ever saw, and it was one that really captured the mysterious and intriguing nature that the original Pokemon games had for a lot of kids like me. I wonder why they never explained the giant Dragonite, but then again, that's probably for the best. Given the anime these days, it would probably be something stupid.

Also, this song is flat-out beautiful. Thanks much for posting it. :D

  • Everything from the beginning of the Pokemon cartoon to the end of the Indigo League games was great. Well said dynamite!

  • @dynamitespoony I will tell you the very logical explanation of the giant Dragonite. Dragonite is the 149th Pokemon on the Pokemon Chart. Which means that it was discovered after the legendary birds. They were deciding if they were gonna make it a legendary pokemon in this episode. So they made it mysterious and large. Later they decided that it should just be normal size and strong instead of huge like Lugia or ho-oh.

  • @DJSugar62 Total buzzkill. Giant Dragonite is awesome and mysterious and fucking awesome. I don't want to hear this.

  • @Adharkach truth hurts :)

  • @DJSugar62 I still don't believe Giant Dragonite can be explained by schemes as simple as that -.- He's a true mystery! My inner six year old hates you! :P

  • @dynamitespoony This also explains the idea that Arcanine was a legendary pokemon. in episode 2, they had a picture of Legendary Pokemon and Arcanine not entei was one of them. They were deciding if they were gonna make him a Legendary... simple

  • @dynamitespoony I saw an article in an old pokemon mag about Dragonite it went on to tell how Dragonite was originally ment to be a legendy one of a kind pokemon and bigger then all the rest and was set to have a bigger roll in the first pokemon movie with mew and mewtwo but the idea was scraped and Dragonite just became the evloved from of Dragonair this explains why Dragonite looks so much different from Dratini and Dragonair.

  • @dynamitespoony Yes I know what you mean. This is a very nostalgic episode for me from the first series of Pokemon (when it was in its prime). The mysterious giant Dragonite appeared only once on the screen and you never saw it's appearance just it's silhouette. The theme and suspense itself was enough to make it memorable enough for me to remember this episode 12 or so years on!

  • @RosheruCell

    Exactly

  • lol huge wings

  • I remember this Episode.I saw Dragonite and I was like 0.O giant Dragonite wtf?then I was like, that's sooo cool!
