  • the playstation version was terrible, absolutely hated the control scheme. can't say much for the sega saturn or N64 versions cause i never played em, they look even more shit lmao. The Xbox Live arcade version is far superior! :D

  • N64 version in my opinion is the best, no music and has a lot of censorship, but has co-op = more fun =D

  • @IgnacioCalvo87 nintendero...

  • Wow, the N64 vrsion sucks compared to Saturn and PS1 versions that come closer to the PC version.

  • n64 version was the shittiest, ps1 was really good, but i think saturn was the best one :)

  • @frankytap Didnt the Saturn version have laggy controls?

  • @Carbon657 not that i remember, was a long time ago and i didnt own the systems myself so i cant really say =/ just thought the saturn version was cooler

  • n64 one looks shit

  • WOW nintendo version sucks.

  • I spent so much time on Duke Nukem 64 in 4 player deathmatch and 2 player co-op when I was younger. that's the plus of it, when played single player it's really boring.

  • that looks terrible on the n64

  • playstation wins. Runner up is Nintendo 64.

  • @FireBirds52164 buahaha! why? Saturn has a higher frame rate and visuals look better. PS looks the worst of them all.

  • Did you people who said the PS version is better even watch the video? It is so much more pixilated it is disgusting! Compare the visuals at 20 seconds (PS) and 52 seconds (Saturn). Add to that the Saturn explosions look 500% better because the PS version did not utilize lightsourcing in the visuals and the Saturn did. Compare the visuals at 3 seconds (PS) and 37 seconds (Saturn). The N64 version looks fine but there are so many differences its really not the same game.

  • @caseycu hurr durr TEH GRAFIKS!!11

  • Nr.1: N64

    Nr.2:PlayStation

    Nr.3:Sega Saturn

  • Here's my conclusion

Sega Saturn: Duke looks like he was on crack while shooting and moving simultaneously but long load time for great graphics.

Sony PlayStation: Does what Sony does it right the very first first time when it comes to Blue Book CDs in gaming history but lacks graphics for faster load time.

Nintendo 64: No load time (except for video render), has local multiplayer but was heavily censored by Nintendo of America.

  • Even though the PS1 version is the worst and unchanged, I like it because I can stick it on my PSP.

  • the control on the Saturn looks like pure shit

  • this game on the N64 was awesome, the gameplay and graphic was better on this console, PS1 version was uncensored but the control suck

  • Saturn.

  • Played all 3 versions, I gotta say the SATURN version is the best.

  • @RohanMaddox why? i only played the pc one

  • I approve of the PS1 version, it's what I'd played most of it on until I went to eDuke32

  • lol in the PS, SAT versions he says 'Those Alien Bastards', in the N64 version he says 'Those Alien Scum'

  • Hexen appeared on these 3 platforms, as well.

  • Playstation 1 is the best for me

  • Saturn version is best. Best soundtrack, no censorship and no blurriness.

  • Duke Nukem 64 is the best. It has improved graphics and sounds, new stuff, and still true to the original. The censoring is a bit disappointing but it's really not too bad, and if you want music just hear the DN3D soundtrack while playing. PS version has awful graphics and framerate, and include nothing new but a stupid strange episode instand of the great "The Birth" from DN3D atomic edition. And the Saturn version is even worse being on other engine and has less detailed levels and such.

  • @HardShitGMod the n64 version was a blurry mess which was far to different to the classic PC version (no in game music???) but you can thank eurocom for such a piss poor port but at least they made a decent bond game on the 64......oh wait......

  • @HardShitGMod Duke 64 is a watered-dow POS version of Duke3D. and the bonus episode on the PS version had some of the most creative Duke levels ever created, and the soundtrack was absolutely blinding. the framerate wasnt as bad as you make it out to be ya know.

  • @TLKGuitarMan

Bullshit, the N64 version was awesome. Censorship isn't watering it down...Although not having music was fucking stupid, the game made up for it's flaws with new weapons.

  • @TheCromeGnome yes it is, especially with a character like Duke, and the new weapons were unoriginal and really boring. DN64 sucked hard, deal with it.

  • @TLKGuitarMan

So the only good think about Duke Nukem 3D was how raunchy it was? And how the weapons were bazooka, chaingun, double bazooka, and freezygun? I think your argument is invalid, ol' top.

  • @TheCromeGnome nah the N54 was the worst of the bunch. id rather play the shitty duke platformers and third person gayfests that came after DN3D than play the nintendo version

  • @TLKGuitarMan you know nothing about Duke.

  • @Sarah95231 hahahahahahahahaha

  • @TLKGuitarMan umadfag?

  • @Sarah95231 no, i just thought your comment was funny due to whats on your channel lol

  • @HardShitGMod yes because judging a game by it's graphics is always a good idea....

  • @HardShitGMod of corse the n64 version is the best you retard its 64 bit

  • the n64 version looks better cause it was a re-master not a port and apparently the Saturn version was impossible to control

  • @lildecable It's not a remaster at all. Calling it a remaster pretty much calls the Saturn version a remaster. The N64 version actually runs off the Build engine, same as the original Duke Nukem 3D. Saturn version uses SlaveDrive engine.

  • @iniche yeah my mistake on that but Duke Nukem 64 was still better looking and did the Saturn control really bad ?

  • @lildecable Saturn version control is easier for me than Duke Nukem 64. Just personally.

  • @iniche I just don't see how it works on Saturn

  • @lildecable It's called practice and just general affinity. You can set the controls, you know. Maybe it's because I've played console Doom versions. But I still find it much easier to control Saturn Duke Nukem 3D than DN64.

  • @iniche interesting

  • Damn, Sega is pretty advance. Too bad Sony was to be in the way.

  • In sega saturn, it seems to look like the map objects and etc are bigger than the player!!

  • @DoomTheSpaceMarine Playstation also seems more quiet!

  • The N64 version just didn't survive its years and looks less good now: no music and bad explosion effects in 3D (the sprites on the others versions are more "realistic") But the N64 had multiplayer which is a good thing !

I love old game systems comparisons, it's very interesting. I happen to buy several times the same games on different supports to compare. I have Wipeout on Saturn and N64 and I also have Hydro Thunder on Dreamcast and N64. Pretty differences !

  • N64 One

  • The saturn version looks hard to play, while the ps one looks like it would be a lot more easy to aim :/

  • @DarkSonicProductions I have played it both in saturn and in playstation and saturn is as easy. From my experience saturn is the best of the 2 because it used a new and improved 3d engine and better sound, Playstation version was a direct pc port.

  • @dannyskater Thanks, also for no reason, while I reply to you I'm playing Duke nukem 3DS on my DS light :3

  • @DarkSonicProductions I've played both..the saturn version used a completely different game engine and the result was a sluggish gameplay pace (which goes against the very definition of what DN3D was) whereas the PS graphics werent great but they were functional and the game was hella fast-paced

  • saturn version is my choice if i have to choose a console version of the ones mentioned above but ofc the pc version rules em all!

  • The music on the N64 was the best.

  • @shinehouse I dont remember, did the N64 version have music? I play it, and I hear nothing.

  • @DarkSonicProductions No the N64 has zero music, I was just being sarcastic. Every time N64 remade a shooter (doom, quake, duke nukem, etc) they never had any music and it was always terrible.

  • @shinehouse I understand XD

  • @shinehouse That's about the most incorrect statement I found.

  • @iniche sigh.... its known as sarcasm.

  • @shinehouse You don't know which comment I was replying to.

  • Let's quit arguing over which console is the best and just agree that the original pc version kills them all. :D

  • SEGA WINS!!! YAY!!! HORAY!!! WOO WOO WOO YOU KNOW IT!!!

  • @SEGAman323

    hahaha

  • PSX clear loser from a technical perspective IMO. Probably just not as good of a port or something.

  • i like PSX version best

the PSX version is a good example that its not the graphics that makes good

  • PS1 & Saturn Ports are better than N64.

  • @cameron20101000 i disagree with you

the N64 remodify the levels and weapons to give you longer lasting gameplay + better graphics

the saturn version IS WAY OUT OF HAND the graphics and frame is nice but if you noticed the CONTROL IS GOD AWFUL + ITS MISSING SOME LEVELS AND ARCHITECTURE

the PSX version however is most accurate to PC a little blocky but FUN TO PLAY and they even added a new episode for even more longer lasting gameplay

  • @killkenny5000 PS1 and Saturn ports compares the PC version, however the one on PS1, they remade the music.

  • @cameron20101000 the saturn version remix the music too

they both sound good but i the like the music and gameplay on the PSX version best

its may look darker and a little blocky but its one those games that look terrible but once you play it for a little while its pretty good

    like DOOM on SNES

all the levels and everything else on the PSX version are their including a new episode PLUG n PLAY

while the saturn cut off some of the levels and took out some levels and architecture

  • @killkenny5000 well,fuck the saturn version

Plug n Play is the fourth episode of Duke Nukem 3D PS1 right?

i mean, last time i watched the saturn version, the music is the same as the PC version.

  • @cameron20101000 no its not when you listen very closely

  • @killkenny5000 lol.

  • I like the Saturn version the best.

  • @Morahman7vnNo2 for graphics yes but control and gameplay NO

    bad control

    missing architecture

    missing levels

PSX version is faster paced and added a new episode called PLUG N PLAY and most accurate to PC

  • @killkenny5000 I just liked it for the music.

    I'm a N64 type of guy.

  • @Morahman7vnNo2 but the N64 version doesnt have music

  • @killkenny5000 Exactly my dilemma.

But I don't mind it that much, I also like the way Duke says "Ahh!" In the Saturn version.

  • @killkenny5000 Why are you going around all over the comments insisting the Saturn version isn't good? That's up to the person to decide. I personally found it great.

  • @iniche because its missing levels and architecture + bad control if you play it on actual system

N64 even it's censored and lack of music its still better than saturn version since it has new improved graphics and architecture

but i mainly go for playstation version since its most accurate to PC and awesome music and playable with an extra episode for longer lasting gameplay

the PS1 version gives you a good reason why its not the graphics that makes the game good :)

  • @killkenny5000 Whether missing architecture is a bad thing or not is up to the person. To me, it's forgivable and done quite nicely. And I've played this version; I find it easier to play than DN64. That's me. Whether N64's new graphics and architecture is good or not is also subjective. But I agree, PSX version is great. Saturn version may be cut down, but it feels genuine and I thoroughly enjoy it. It has a charm to it unseen in other versions.

  • @iniche true :)

duke nukem is best on PSX/PS1

doom is best on PS1/PSX (doom 64 doesnt count)

quake 1 is best on saturn

quake 2 is best on PSX

    hexen is best on N64

powerslave is best on PS1 (saturn version is decent)

    wolfenstein 3D is best on 3DO :o

i wonder why do most saturn FPS turned out crap (except quake and powerslave)

might be because the saturn was not mainly made for 3D gaming thats what most ppl said :L

  • @killkenny5000 I like Saturn Hexen (I like N64 Hexen the most, though). Doom 64 may not count (it's not a port of any Doom game), but I think it's one of the best Doom games ever. It beats that crappy Doom 3 by yards.

  • @iniche the strangest thing that i ever heard from doom 64 that its not even made by id software

it was made by midway using a more advance doom engine but DOOM 64 was really made by williams.inc

williams.inc was bought by midway since after they made doom PSX

williams.inc also helped midway to make ultimate mortal kombat 3 on sega genesis and williams.inc is also responsible for making the SNES version of DOOM using the FX2 chip

so pretty much williams did alot of things for their time

  • @killkenny5000 I don't find it strange at all. Id hardly did any of the Doom ports. It's not Id who made Doom 64; it's Midway. But also, Id did not make the 3DO, GBA, Zodiac or Xbox/XBox 360 ports. Those were created by separate companies that got the permission to translate the game to those systems.

  • @iniche if you were paying alittle more attention to my comment was talking about id did not make doom 64

  • @killkenny5000 And what part of my comment shows that I didn't pay attention to your's? Did you even read what I replied to you? Nowhere did I miss your point and I told you I know Id did not make Doom 64.

  • @iniche k im sry their is no need to argue :(

  • @iniche its best if we stop replying to each other since were like flooding the comments

  • Wow, no PC?

  • @Skullkan6 this is about CONSOLE PORTS this does not have to do with PC

  • ps1 version is the best, n64 version sucks ass its the edited version if none of you n64 fans knew that, but anyway its still a good classic game

  • Even tho Sega was fun back in a days. It looked like dog shit. N64 Wins.

  • N64 has no music

  • 64 best

  • Saturn version is my personal best

  • PS1 and Saturn are the best.

  • saturn version actually uses a full 3d-engine, so you can freely look around, which is probably because it is a bit slower.

  • KKKKKK NO PS1 ELES BOTAM UMA MUSICA PRA COMPENSAR O BAIXO GRAFICO

JA NO N64 NEM PRECISA DE MUSIQUINHA PRA ENTRAR NO CLIMA XD

  • The N64 version has blurry textures, but smoother polygons.

The PSX and Saturn versions have sharp textures, but polygons are jaggy.

  • n 64 has the best graphics !

  • The Nintendo 64 version did not suck - the only reason people claim it sucks is because evryone grew up playing different versions. The Nintendo 64's textures are cleaner, the lighting is brighter, the HUD is minimal, the weapon models are more modern, the theme song is way better, and despite the fact that there was no IN-GAME music, it made the gameplay that much more suspenseful. If you were playing on the hardest difficulty, the bullets and grunts of your enemies were frightening. Co-Op = +.

  • sega saturn and playstation is the best!!!!!!!nintedo 64 vrsion suck

  • N64 has the best graphics hands down... but it is heavily censored.

Even though it has no BGM, it has the best title screen music. =]

I love the graphics on the PS1 and Saturn, though. Super retro

  • Also how do you kick while shooting? Can you not do it in the Sega Saturn version?

  • How do I fly vertically with the jetpack on the Saturn version?

  • n64 has the best muzzle flash, ps1 has the best gameplay, and sega saturn has the best graphics. But pc has all 3 lol

  • wait no music on the n64!

    Then i say fuck it!

  • Worst = Nintendo 64 Version. Problem? Bad In Music,Controls and graphics.

OK= Sega Saturn For Best in Frame rate,Strafe Controls and almost as good music.

BEST=PS1! Best In Music Because it Makes Duke Sound Like A DJ. however the worst part is it trails on PS1 Emulators so use ePSXe as your only choice if you want to play now. also the controls and the difficulty can get a little hard so i suggest saturn IF your experienced.

  • Comment removed

  • @Ryuuji14 WHAT? the saturn sucked! it was near impossible to aim!

  • @TheDeltaXQ you weren't using the 3D Controller. it worked for me.

  • that saturn port looks CRAZY

  • Duke nukem 64 kicked ass.. Did the other dukes have all the secret levels? and I liked the silence of duke64, it was more suspenceful

  • @JuOn666 Duke Nukem 64 doesn't have ALL the secret levels.

  • I remember playing Duke 64. While it was censored and it had a lack of BGM, it was still a freaking blast. Oh.. the countless hours spent in the multiplayer against my bro... lol and all the glitches you could do if you knew how to do them :P (

  • in playstation version is better music so mutch better :))

  • in my opinion the saturn and ps1 version is better.for 2 reasons.1.uncenored!!!!2.theres music.the N64 version is so waterd down

  • @landrick1711 Actually the ps version is partially censored still. The only 2 versions fully uncensored were the pc and saturn versions.Sega wanted to keep it true to pc.

  • @Gatsurendo There is no censorship in the PS1 version. At all.

  • IMO the playstation version is the best, the music and voice in the saturn version sounds weird and slowed down, the N64 is censored with lack of music. The playstation's graphics are nice but also the music is the best and the voice just sounds much better. I grew up with the psx version and never been interested in another version

  • The N64 Version was Censored So badly it should of been rated PG 13

All the girls had their clothes on and even the cinema Screen on the first level was Re-rendered.... They even Censored the Captured babes by covering their breast with green covering... The only three things i give credit for the n64 version the Quality and speed.. The Saving captured babes , and that awesome grenade launcher.

  • @Generations1st Ironically, it has more gore since you can destroy the bodies Quake 2 style.

  • Sega Saturn wins in my opinion..Best Frame rate Best Music and Geometric conversion.

  • Only a shame the N64 version was so censored. Not as bad as Wolfenstein SNES, but still pretty compromised.

  • N64 !! :P

  • I actually liked DNF. But the regenerating health and two weapon limit sucked. Other than that I liked it. It deserves a 7.7 out of 10

  • PC version is the best!

  • Damn, those Gearbox bastards are going to pay for shooting up my ride!

  • I like the N64 version.

The level changes are good. Added power ups, dumdums and explosive gunshels.

3D models of explosions. Better weapons like the Grenade Launcher and plasma gun.

I really want the grenade launcher added into Duke Nukem Forever. (<-not replaced)

  • @AgentH53 havent u heard about the upcoming dlc for duke nukem forever? there will be a weapon called: noob tube which refers to grenade launcher. but dont know if its gonna be added to single player. probably not unless theres gonna be new singleplayer maps.

  • Quadrilateral rendering plus 2D power wins.

FPS shooters worked optimally for a Saturn.

  • Anyone noticed the alternate texturefiltering in the saturn version ? Not as blurry as the N64 yet not as pixelated as the playstation version. Seems like it's something else than bilinear filtering.

  • I can't stand the N64 version... the lack of music and level changes are mind boggeling... it also seems that there is less ammo given from each pick up. If I had to pick from one of these three I'd have to give it to the playstation port since it's the closest to the pc one (though I'll take Atomic Edition on PC over any of these any day.)

  • i think sega saturn version was the suckish version

  • The 64 was the best one... the only thing that stopped it... was the censoring.

  • @Masterlink981 and the lack of musc... and the changes to item pick up....

  • @S0ryiu I think that's why I liked the PSX version.

  • they have it for xbox 360 to

  • For visual standards, Saturn and N64 had better frame rate. Problem with the N64, was how much of the game was censored. In one part of the original game, there was a strip club. In the N64, it was turned into a parking lot!!

  • @RuggedSavior AND THEY HAD THE RATED M RATING! Nintendo are big morons. They should just stick to doing Zelda and stuff... besides the HRP beats all of them.

  • The n64 version is inevitably the best. Not only due to added filtering and faster, smoother framerate, but quite a few ingame assets where upgraded. Explosions went full 3D as did a few of the final bosses. And as someone else stated areas got expanded and filled with more detail - not to mention an awesome 4 player mode and 2 player co op.

The censorship element doesn't matter anymore as for me the n64 version is now the most tasteful and mature version of the Duke character!

  • @liveswired yeah, except the point behind Duke was to be as offensive as possible.

  • Nintendo defintly want it back but youre right duke nukem pwns (:

  • While I appreciate all these versions (I have the PlaySation and N64 versions) I'm really glad that Microsoft came out with a PC perfect port on Xbox Live Arcade, so even if you have any or all three of these versions, I recommend downloading it as well for any Duke Nukem fan :)

  • Another game that appeared on all 3 = HeXen.

  • I dont care who the hell is the best console with duke nukem 3d , I think this game is fucking great :D !!

  • I also really liked the Plasma Cannon and Grenade Launcher in Duke 64. Not that I didn't like the Devestator or the Freeze Ray, I just wasn't exposed to them until later on. I truthfully never played PC's version much just because I could never get it to run well. I got completely exposed to the original as well as the Atomic Edition add on once Duke released on Xbox live arcade, which was awesome!

  • It's all relative, but I think I like N64's version best if just because it's the first one I ever played. The extra features were cool, but because I had never played PC's, I didn't know it was any different. The PSX version was cool because it included the Plug and Pray chapter that wasn't in any other game. Other than that, for me that was the worst version due to controls compared to 64. I liked PC's Atomic Edition add on, and I never played Saturn's, but the lighting effects look cool.

  • Best sound and music the Saturn version

    Best visuals N64 version

Probably the best controls the PSX version

And it seems a lot easier to play on PSX and N64 because there's a target reticule, the Saturn doesn't have that and has no analogue stick, aside from the 3D controller but I dunno if that works for Duke Nukem. so you have to play it all on a D pad on Saturn

  • n64 is da best

  • im getting the ps1 duke nukem :)

  • @ben10fan1999 HAHA just because its the cheapest

  • @theretrogamerno1 no i dont own a sega saturn the n64 version is to censored and the pc version wont work.

  • @ben10fan1999 Yeah and sory about that i might buy the ps version i want the sega version because the music is much better but is missing lvls and i do own the pc version same here it wont work on my windows 7.

    sory again

  • Comment removed

  • @theretrogamerno1 yea its okay i dont own the pc version but i know it wont work because i have windows xp and i know it wont work on windows xp but its okay dude :)

  • @ben10fan1999 4 me it worked on vista xD

  • @ben10fan1999 It wont work on xp?? wow i might have to get windows 1995 just 2 make it work lol

  • the port doesn't matter - Dn3d is so awesome that it would kick ass on a refrigerator-port

  • Personally I think the N64 controller was rather good actually. I don't know how you can call the first mainstream analogue thumbstick and the first rumble pack a joke. The N64 controller is designed for both 3D and 2D games. That’s why it has a 3rd handle so you can use the D pad for 2D and thumbstick for 3D.

  • Duke for president!!!
