You are absolutly wrong. You are not allowed to stop on a penalty shot, and you are not allowed to go backwards. The only way this goal would have been disallowed was if his stick was above the cross bar.

After you've been playing hockey for a while you memorize where the goal is so it's kind of second nature. You can shoot with your head down and still score. It's basically memorization but it's better to keep your head up when you shoot.

The move is called a michigan, cause somebody in Michigan was one of the first to do it. And actually its preety hard to stop, you really have to pay attention to when it comes off the stick. Im a goalie and ive taken several of those shots.
