Radio 1 may not have played Electric Trains but the pubic hair reference certainly didn't stop the local radio stations from doing so. I remember Forth FM playing it often when it was released in the autumn of 1995, and for a good few years afterwards.
It wasn't played in the US because it sucks. I mean, cmon, the guy is singing about being "perched between his daddy's legs on a piece of wood". That's just wrong.
I used to sit on the crossbar of my dad's bike to go to the barber's then back home. Chris Difford's got the lyrics of this adolescent father/son relationship (plus) down to a tee.....
Brilliant! It wasn't played in the States, either. Cars/trains guns blowing up people. but...those who work in standards and practices, must've thought, a tad to risque'!
ok, i don't know where to begin on this one.... lmao. First off, is that Hitler?? Secondly, um this is a little gay. and thirdly, rofl is that Thomas the train?
@JohnnyLovelyOfficial I think Chris (as Glenn's dad, is supposed to be sort of Chaplinesque...though the mustache was - to me - initially daunting!) Who played mum (in drag?) is it Keith? (and the adolescent girl?)
lol - quite a python-esque video - How the BBC could justify banning this from their playlist merely for the reference to pubic hair defies belief. An excellent band, forever under-rated but appreciated by many!
Perfect!

I love the face Chris pulls at 3:09 typical record contract!

@murschel1 - I'm sorry about your traumatic childhood, but let Difford and Tilbrook write about whatever they want.

What a fantastic video - I've never seen it before! Glenn plays the cricket bat far too well!

@marciabettany don't worry, the States has no problem with risque now. They probably ban anything now it if it DOESN'T have a reference to sex.

Great song. So great Squeeze is putting out spot the difference and working on new material and touring after a long long break. Great

Dig this song. The only clip I know of featuring Hornby trains...
