i remember renting 2 video tapes of dragon ball as a kid this was before it was shown on toonami and i was way into dbz at the time. what a treat it was to see dragon ball then! Ive been looking for this intro for a while

@Skyrex93 Actually. Dragon Ball was originally dubbed by Ocean, prior to any iteration of any series, back in 1995. The first 14 episodes were dubbed into english by Ocean, but faced poor ratings. This was its opening. They switched to DBZ, which had slightly higher ratings but still poor all the same. It wouldn't be until its debut on Cartoon Network's Toonami that Dragon Ball Z would truly take off.

You know I always wondered why on dbz tv there was this crazy dub which i think is the late 80s one and then this other dub which is better and more memorable to my younger days and i always wonder how the memorable dub somehow changed with yamcha's voice like after ep 13 when they are in the jungle... hmmmm i know now... but i wanna see the updated original 13 from 2001 or did they keep the orig 13 they made in 1995?

I liked this one back in the day... Was prob one of the best for Canadian TV because it was original it didn't "Try" to be its Japanese counterpart(which is amazing BTW) but it was a spin on it to try and make our own. I don't mind. Defo better than "Rock the dragon" or whatever the hell it was.

@hetekos Anywhere usually depends where you live... If in Canada go to Best Buy or Futureshop can find the DVD box sets for cheap 15-20$ per season... Theres only 5 in the original DB. The DVD box set has the english and japanese on it.

The series was edited to hell though and I can't even imagine how butcher the darker king piccolo saga would had been had the ocean dub version kept going. The anime came out in Japan in 1986,This particular dub From Ocean group however was dubbed 9 years later in 1995,it was common back than for alot of older animes from the 70's and 80's to receive 90's style english dubs.

But reguardless, this one's pretty good and I rather like the catchy sound of it. Funi dub and/or phillipines dub version is by far superior than any of them though, since it's the original JP with a remastered and english lyrics.

The dubbers did. In 2001, they redubbed the first 13 episodes, and dubbed all the episodes after. They kept the original music, and made an English version of Makafushigi Adventure.
