@deathwish4eva some of them are clean but most of them involve high tackles, no wrap in the tackle or lifting and spearing the ball carrier into the ground which are all considered dangerous tackles in rugby
This video is great!! there are a few illegal hits because they didnt wrap, but other than that they are great hard hits, and im an american that played football my whole life and have been playing college rugby for several years now as a flanker then prop, and i say both sports are badass, the only difference is you get to do more stuff in rugby since everyone can run and catch, but both sports demand respect and those that say otherwise havent gotten layed out in either sport im sure
@saltlife85 ..."didn't wrap" ? - there's no such rule in NRL (which these vids are from) - the vast majority of these tackles are legal and shoulder charging is perfectly legal.
I've never made a comment on the differences between American Football and Rugby... if you ask me, they're both tough as hell games to play and none of you morons comparing their 'toughness' have the slightest clue. What it boils down to is respect for each game. I'll promise you, too, that if you were to show professional athletes from both sports video of each others games, you'd get nothing but respectful comments from both sides. It's what true sportsmen do.
The first hit wasn't really dirty. That person teammate doesn't know how to through a damn ball and to catch that thing he had to jump for it. *HOSPITAL PASS*
i have played both Rugby League, Union and American Football and all i can say is rugby is much tougher and a lot better to play, American Football is just awful! padded up to the high heavens and feel no pain! why would you honestly want that?!
@RyanMcEntee16 yeh im the same, ive played all three, rugby union is my favorite and football is just nothing compared to rugby, its just stupid with pads and its too slow, and yeh to the haters i didnt play on the back in football i played running back and line backer
@RyanMcEntee16 You never played american football if you felt no pain. I also play rugby and played american football and the hits are much harder in football, thus the need for padding.
@6jhamm9 the reason the hits are harder in football is because you wear padding, not the other way around... if you hit like a football player in rugby that's how you hurt yourself.
@imsigningin That''s not really true. You wear padding because play in football is done at a much quicker and stronger level because of all the rest you get. Every play people are pretty much fully rested and ready to go at each other with all their will. While the padding may help your mentatily, i.e. you feel like you can't be hurt, it is necessary.
Additionally, tackles in football are often collision based. You can leave your feet to tackle and u dont have to wrap. Thus more impact.
@6jhamm9 yes you can do all of the BECAUSE you have the pads on, its a simple concept really...just think about it. And the amount of rest in each sport is completely irrelevant to what padding you need. That's like saying lacrosse players wear less padding than hockey players because they have less rest...lolwut?
Why is it that EVERYTIME i come to a Rugby video i see comments about American Football, yet when I go to a video about American Football not a single comment is made on rugby. Wonder why that is? They dont give a shit! And neither should you. You like your sports, we like ours. Why the comparison when the other side couldnt give two shits about your opinion from 4,000 miles away?
well spoken, however i believe people talk bout american football on rugby vids because the americans believe they have the toughest sport, so they dont give a shit. however rugby countries all know this is bullshit. people are just trying to prove this.
in football you get it, in rugby you get hit more. in football you have pads, a helmet and other a equipment, in rugby you might have a mouth guard and a whole lotta willpower.. whoever says football's tougher, should give their head a shake and play a match of rugby.
@TheSkiesScarlett they're two completely different games, there is no point dissing American Football, when you yourself most likely never played the sport, if ya want to diss a sport, diss Football (thats soccer to ye yanks), an utter waste of a game
Ok why is everyone arguing about whether rugby or American football is better? They are two different sports. You can't compare them to each other. In football you get hit less frequently but usually with more frequent pain and in rugby you get hit a lot. In football you get hurt, and in rugby you get hurt. Leave it at that. Please
the forces involved in these tackles must be immense, having the strength to stop around 20 stone of pure muscle racing towards you in its tracks and put them on their arse, much respect indeed
around 20 stone? this is rugby league, most of the players you saw getting hit will have been between 14 and 16stone. No league players weigh much more than 18 stone anyway because the nature of the game means everyone is constantly on their feet with little rest time
Football is way more strategical then rugby. It's more complex, but because of this it is bounded by too many rules that stall the game. I personally think rugby is more fun to play because the game has more flow. Rugby players have to be more well rounded athletes in my opinion. Not more athletic necessarily, but you can't just be good at one certain thing to be considered a good player. Not hating on football, I love football especially when my Chiefs play, but I enjoy playing rugby much more
brother some yanks actually do play rugby... football is just so popular in The States that they just say stuff, without actually knowing what rugby is. I live in a state called Georgia in USA , and our high school team has the most southern black people the whole division and a couple mexicans . but some people just talk because they can.

ok lil correction 0:23 was illegal he went in shoulder/ elbow only to the runners face so A it would be a high tackle B its not even classed as a tackle and C its illegal
just saying tho and there are alot of high tackles in the vid so still most are legal from what i know :/ happily correct me if im wrong tho :)
@scangaa no you won't, do you watch Rugby League? or just make silly posts about it on youtube. Those tackles were legal. Whats the ref gonna say? "10 minutes in the bin for that awesome legal tackle"
@amalavasi ; do you play either ? surely not aye , you faqq .. stop comparinq sports man , they're all unique in their own way . and yes you have your own choice of sport so if you like American Football , stick to it and leave leaque alone , its a qreat sport !

Rugby seems more dangerous, but you get much worse injuries in football because the pads and especially the helmet do two things:
a. create a false sense of protection, increasing the speed of collision
b. the helmet has turned into a weapon, hence the increasing number of concussions
And of course, generally NFLers are much bigger, stronger, faster, and more athletic than Ruby players.

wtf theres only like 2 dirty tackles in here lol
chanik02 2 years ago 2
ok lil correction 0:23 was illegal he went in shoulder/ elbow only to the runners face so A it would be a high tackle B its not even classed as a tackle and C its illegal
just saying tho and there are alot of high tackles in the vid so still most are legal from what i know :/ happily correct me if im wrong tho :)

@rols92 most of these tackles are high as fuck haha
robbiehasdimples 1 year ago
@rols92 its a dangerous tackle, not legal. if you do it a couple times you'll get a yellow.
scangaa 11 months ago
@scangaa no you won't, do you watch Rugby League? or just make silly posts about it on youtube. Those tackles were legal. Whats the ref gonna say? "10 minutes in the bin for that awesome legal tackle"
