  • hi i use cs5 and i dont have xtract what can do now please help me

  • @moshtojan Go to adobe site downloads and get the extract plugin and put it in your plugins folder and when you search through filters extract tool will be back

  • thx man!

  • ok CS5 doesn't have extract under filter either....oh well

  • @SSunner813 I think it's in Extended and came on the CS4 extra's DVD (which you can get from the Adobe site too methinks as a download). For some reason they removed it as standard in CS4 and made it an extra plugin. No idea why.

  • @SSunner813 Oh, as a side note. Use the refine edge tool instead in CS5. There's an option pretty similar to this that does a damn good job at cutting out hair and fur and stuff too.

  • hell i have PS CS5 v 12 and i dont have an extract selection...wtf then again I'm a beginner :/

  • Check out these video tutorials if you need help in becoming a pro Photoshop user - youtube.com/watch?v=wg-MqQwG5z4

you can find it under start->programms->Accessories

  • @EdTheBadass thanks:)

  • Thanks for the tut on extract. Never used this method, but now I see how the extract tool is used. Still prefer the channel method though, even though the extract did a stellar job on the hair. I'll have to try it out, maybe a combination of the 2 may work even better.

  • Lol I like the picture kind a cute isn't it?

  • Do you want to learn 90 most professional photoshop tricks? if yes then get it now from freephotoshop .t k

  • More easy: select the quick selection tool and make sure its on + not - and select your image (will be hard if its a dark image) then go to selection tab and click inverse and then extract it and done

  • @lalox1975 and where is the quick select tool ?

I like your name but i think I confuse you with my amateur questions lol.

  • sorry but i know nothing about illustrator i got it ..... but i didnt pay for it and i dont really know how to use it much lol

  • hrmm the best advice i can give is to when u take the image into illustrator it will have a white back ground no matter wat format u save it as best thing to do is to go around your image with the pen tool in illustrator and make a layer mask over it hope this helped

  • This is Photoshop 7.0/.1

  • Lucky you. I only have photoshop 7. Wish I had CS4. :)

  • do u have a mac?

  • Mine is a laptop PC. Not great for this type of work I suppose.

  • no he does not

  • You must convert the images to .gif format.

  • when i drag the background in it just sets as a new file please help!!!! will sub u!

  • This was a great video. Thanks for posting and I will be referencing this!

  • How can you get this program?

  • are you.. oh. idiot? it cost 999USD. or eur

  • its easy to pirate it-.-

  • buy it

  • i don't have extract! wtf?

  • I use the mask tool..then hit ctrl-shift-i...to revert the selection, then hit delete. If you use a small rounded brush, you can get pretty close to the edge. It's alot faster I think. You can also use channels to delete the background, but it takes about as many steps as he shows.

  • thanks :) this was very helpful :)

  • great one

  • That was a good tutorial!

  • I agree with you, in photoshopt cs4 there's no extract. You can use The Magic Eraser Tool, to remove your background and then apply the image in the other tab & u'll have your Background :D

    hope this helped out

  • great video i love your videos, can you check my videos out, i have many new videos for beginners to advanced photoshopers ! Would love some feedback

  • I agree with snitsky007. The polygonal tool is faster, too.

  • The polygon tool is great if you want to extract furniture or an object with hard edges but when it comes to flyaway hair then there is no choice, the extract filter is the only way to go.

  • very good thank you!

  • polygonal lasso tool method is much better!

  • Man i fucking love you!!!!!!!!! lmao...i always wanted to learn dis shit..nd neggas made it so damn complex..u make it so simple..thanks alot mayne..keep up the great videos!!=D
