Did you ever think to make sprite (like mario) graphics a bit more grotesque to make it fit better with the rest of the graphics?

Can't get enough of the Lorenzen's Soil theme.

One thing is still missing and that is flickering heat as visible effect.

Looking great. Maybe you should give the BG lava a minor 'glowing' effect for even more awesomeness.
