Can someone tell me how did St. Francis deal with the cold in his feet and hands? Wouldn't he get frostbite? It must have gotten below zero in Assisi since they get harsh winters there.
@Mesalonika it is ok, many people don't see catholic faith as pure today, the satans attacking of church is as strong as it was in the begining so unfortunately many people are decieved, st Francis was a true catholic, what we see in him is what we are all trying to be, pure Gods children. Today is satans influence strong but there is hope, God is present.
@LilyOfTheValley385 When Catholic church was more powerfull, millions of people died. Remmember the Inquisition and Crusades... for me Catholic church are satan himself... and i dont believe in satan..... lol
@markoctavio Your belief or non-belief I respect, but please do know that many things done in the name of God are not from God and/or of God. Moreover, and this is not to lessen their crime, the Inquisition killed maybe a thousand persons, and maybe a few tens of thousands died in the crusades.Surely a lot, but not nearly as many as in the wars of the last 100 years...The Catholic Church is about peace, and I do believe Satan is about war.
@markoctavio you obviously don't believe in secular historians who now contend the inquisition's deaths. Check out Professor Madison and his latest findings.... or you don't believe in history either? as far as the crusades are concerned....well, if Obama (as a "Christian") invaded Iran, would you say the Christian Church invaded Iran? Of course not! George W Bush does not represent Christianity so you cant say his invasion of Iraq was a Christian one....same as the Crusades; independent Kings!
@MikkkkyB what about the nowdays discovered sex crimes committed by Catholic priests?... if you preach that "awesome", and divine religion... how can you do that horrible things?...
This whole movie, with songs, with scenery, with simplicity, with love and with real commitment to the poor and to the Lord...it spoke volumes to me then. Will it continue to do so? I hope!
Beautiful soundtrack by Donovan. Recently found YouTube video "Gigliola Cinquetti - Marcellino pane e vino". Seems like it would have fit in well with this film although uncertain about the words since I don't speak Italian. But by the sound of it. Very beautiful.
i love when u can see that armless legless girl smile/sigh with such love in her face for francis, and this whole scene is beautiful. anyone who loves francis shud read saint francis by nikos kazantzakis book changed my life.
If you want your dream to be build it slow and surely.Small beginnings greater ends hard felt work grows purely. If you want to live life free take your time go slowly. Do few things but do them well single joys are holy. Day by day stone by stone build your secret slowly, day by day you grow, too.
my director wrote a play about fransis that we preformed in the massachusetes state drama festival, my school came in 9th out of 109 schools or soemthing like that
@christianhirko How dare you... such a thing is an insult to God, Francesco knew and still knows that it is by God's power that love takes part upon the Earth...
NO molcb76 ~ the melody for "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" was composed by Ortolani. It's part of a whole film score. Please click on the related videos, such as "Fratello Sole, Sorella Luna" where you will hear Riz' melody.
With all due respect... but the folk singer Donovan simply didn't have the training or the technique to be able to do such things. IF he had... he should surely have been in great demand to do more films.
Donovan's contribution to the English-language version was still great.
This film, the music Donovan wrote for it, and the life of Francesco d'Assisi have inspired and comforted me for many years. I'm glad to see this on YouTube.

If you want to live life free
walk with Christ in Charity
Do for others as you do for yourself
Pray the holy spirit to guide thee
Step by step,
Hour by hour,
Carry your cross humbly.
Step by step,
Faith grows too,
Gods love will hold thee.

@christianhirko Do not pray to St. Francis since he is not God. I just thought I should share a few verses with you.
John 14:16 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. KJV
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved. KJV
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: KJV

THE MUSIC IS BY RIZ ORTOLANI who was an experienced and accomplished composer for the screen. AND, there was an Italian soundtrack released.
DONOVAN did the English lyrics and vocals. Others wrote words to Ortolani's music in other languages.

I knew that both music and lirics were composed by Donovan, at least for "Brother sun, sister moon"
