  • Buy the yapster blaster look it up on youtube it is awsome just like turtle beach and better and yes it comes with stuff to hook it up to xbox 360 go to amazon.com and get it for 30.00 lot cheaper price than turtlebeach

  • were can i actually but the adapter rather than make one?

  • i jus tbought one from amazon 60 cents lol

  • For a second there I thot u could buy it lol but nice work and very creative lol

  • Using this method will give you both game sound and mic function, or just the mic function?

  • Umm A cheap headset for the 360 is cheaper

  • hey guys just go to theheadsetbuddy(dot)com/Xbox-360-Headset-Adapter-PC-Headset-to-Xbox-360-Controller-01-PC35-XBOX360.htm

  • I love you for using Braid music in your vid, plus its informative. Great combo :)

  • thumbs up if this song is shite

  • Or for $5 and free shipping get the adapter off eBay...search "HEADSET HEADPHONE MIC ADAPTER FOR XBOX 360 CONTROLLER"

  • why.not jus buy a 24$ headset dude

  • For all of you that say: "buy the converter online"

find the schematics and I'll believe you...

  • for the money you pay for this you could buy one on ebay

  • the song makes me angry

    RAWR!!!

  • what song is this very nice

  • Here's what I have to say to those of you whom don't seem to understand the wiring scheme:

Find me these adapters with their wiring schematic. This will show the same adapter. However, until that time I will keep the stance of I'll believe it when I see it.

Having a 3/32" to 1/8" splitter is COMPLETELY different than having a split (audio and mic) and shorted connection (between the audio "channels").

  • there are much easier ways. You can buy a small white adaptor from amazon for around £5/$8. just plug it into your controler and plug the sound and mic leads in

  • what music is this?

  • Thanx m8 nice one

  • if i just buy a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack and connect my headset wil i be able to hear sound.... i dont need a microphone cuz i dont play online

  • with al the money u spend for that getho crap u can order 1 xbox 360 converter on ebay for like 10ponds idk xd .?

  • why waste time buying 25 dollars worth of supplys when you could buy a turtle beach like an x1 or an xlc they only cost 23 dollars

  • @bellinger24 not if your lazy and already have this stuff at your house

  • this works, but its super quiet, and nobody can hear me, and i cant hear anyone. grats

  • Why go through all this trouble? Just buy an xbox headset, ahah.

  • This doesnt work, sorry to say..

    Creates a shitload of echo.

    sucks

  • @powerman15 Then you did the job wrong:

mapped to the wrong TRS pins or mixed the mic and speaker channel.

have your mic and speaker lines flipped when plugging in

Extending wires does not remove function.... but if you cross wires you are hosed.

  • @Phrasz013

yes, thats what the problem was, i had splitter, didnt actually take to time to make my own.

i know what was wrong, and why.

(didnt actually watch the entire video.)

  • Braid music is win

  • thumbs up for braid music

  • 3/32" is a 1/8 inch jack. Regular speaker port.

    Just get a splitter.

And a Logitech headset from Walmart.

Plug the splitter in the Controler.

Plug the headset ports into the spliter,

    Bam, Your done.

  • @gibsonlespaul2 It's not that simple. You are still at a single speaker outputting the sound versus both. The splitter will keep the TRS channels separate. However, if you cut open the wires and splice the two signal wires together (leaving the ground wire alone) you will get the same effect as my adapter.

One point of this adapter is to have both speakers working giving a "stereo like" effect. Imagine listening to music with only one ear vs both. I like when I can hear people in both ears...

  • you can buy a cable for 3$ that will work with any headphones. the whole point of doing this is getting better headphones then the standard xbox ones otherwise just buy the standards

  • This is just not too complicated :L

  • this is an awesome vid for saving money. but you could also get the 1/8 stereo to 3/32 adapter from radio shack or the source or some other retail you'll be spending a lot though because you'd also need a Y stereo adapter. So I recommend following this video for saving money because the parts I mention can cost you a sum of over $25

  • so i can do this with the astro mixamp 5.8?

  • can someone help me out... i can hear party chat and talk but i cant hear game audio wtf! i have one of these cable thingies and it wont let me hear game audio

  • this will not add in the sound output from your xbox though. just buy a set built for it, they aren't very expensive and have good quality. also no low mic problems either.

  • just tell me is it stereo or not

  • @karandex not really stereo, just the same as what would come out of the one earphone comes through both.

  • it gives me a echo help

  • what the hell too complicated

  • song?

  • how 'bout u sell me that adapter there? :D

  • How sad that the only reason people recognize this song is because it's from a video game...

  • Sorry hey guys I just made a exellent headset for my 360 I took some sentry 880cd headphones and took a wired blue tooth headset and took some Velcro and made a perfect headset that sound as good as turtle beaches x11s :) only 20 bucks!!!

  • Hey guys...

  • Can i buy that adapter from you?

  • lol, music from BRAID

  • do not tell which one is the mic and which one is the headphone

  • This adapter, like most XBOX headset adapters, only lets you use your PC headset for XBOX live chat. Game sounds come out from the TV speakers. So you end up wearing a headset and listening for sounds through an external speaker.

A better solution is to use an XJacker headset adapter kit (xjacker.com). Stereo game sounds plus XBOX live chat through the same headset, for less than US$7. Works great for my PC headset (Sennhesier PC350).

  • the headset does not look comfortable

  • @TheSWAGER97 They aren't, but they were the closest pair that my kids could destroy... so I used them.

  • song gay

  • Sweet soundtrack on the video =D

  • kick ass headset, dude lmao

  • It would work anyway.

  • i have a usb adptor is there any way to use this on a consol

  • this is WAY too involved.....this is retarded actually

  • easier to buy a new 1

  • Yay!

  • What song is that? its the first string type ochrastra Ive ever really liked :)

  • @iNightMaRe300 Late reply,, but the song is "Downstream" by Shira Kammen.

  • @iNightMaRe300 it's the soundtrack from braid

  • i'll just get my self an xbox 360 head set

  • your headset doesnt look that all comfortable it doesnt even have padding on the ear areas

  • @02926776 That was just one I had laying around. It's been tossed a long time now. The point was that any headset would work.

  • EASY?......

  • What I did was got an 3.5 mm extension and connected it to tv imput and got a 3.5 to 2.5 mm conversion and plugged it into controller does anyone think that will work

  • my tutorial: buy a xbox360 headset >.>

  • Hey man i have a pc head set that goes around your neck type and its a usb i hooked that up to my xbox 360 and how do i get to hear my friends i have xbox live so thanks for commenting

  • @SupportAlexJones The Usb type head phone won't work with the 360 unless it has an offical seal. Usb headphones are digital where as all the other audio is analog..... apples and oranges my friend.

  • @Phrasz013 Darn it I was trying to save money LOL! well now i gotta buy one i looked on amazon and they have some pretty cheap ones for like 6$ haha my gamer tag is MACINEGUN2106

  • just a question: Does any USB computer headset works on the xbox 360 USB-slot ?

  • braid theme song?

  • I bought a headset recently for $10.95 USD which came with a "Cellular Phone Adapter" piece it's the correct length can everything to fit to the xbox 360 controller. If I can find the receipt [Since i tossed the box] I could provide a name and series or brand. I'm afraid to say but I skipped alot but can I receive audio [Like the game etc] from my headphones instead of my Monitors Speakers?

  • So Can I Hear At Least My Friends On Xbox?

  • Okay So I Bought An Headset, And I Bought The Pc to Xbox 360 Converter Headset, Can I Hear Game Audio As Well, P.S.-I Bought The Planetronics Gamecom 367 Closed Ear Head Set

  • @WelcometoZyWokCity

    No you cannot.

Unless you had some RF transmitter(which was plugged into the back of the xbox), then mixed the signal, and sent that to headset.

Just think of this as an uber way to use a wired headset. It adds nothing to the functionality of the 360.

  • Hey i bought a stand for my 360 and i came with a headset with those 2 connectors

  • wtf ? Hate the music !

  • or u can buy an adapter for it.... 10$

  • you should sell those

  • Stereo plugs are female? Didnt know that.

  • It's the naming convention. Albeit childish, the male/female description is extremely intuitive to anyone that is .... male or female....

  • @ConvictedCriminal Male is an outward sticking jack...like the male genitalia

Female is an inward plug in jack..like a..you get it..right?

  • I dont know. If you try it let me know :)

  • R u too cheep to just buy a mic come on dude

  • It has nothing to do with a mic. It's all about the want for both ears having audio. If I wanted a Mic I would simply find a 3/32 to mic and play sound through the TV.

  • This is only going to duplicate the mono sound over to both the left and right ear correct? I don't think you can actually get Real Stereo sound out of the controller.

As the Jack does not carry a stereo signal.

Correct? IE: Its Mono but to Bother ears (L/R give same exact sound)

  • Exactly.

@~1.15 You'll see me mention how the headset has a "stereo effect".

It's completely impossible to have the headset create a stereo signal. BUT since mics are mono and just relayed over both channels you can say it's about the same using this method.

My issue with the xbox is that I couldn't hear a person well enough from wired headsets, so I changed that problem with this adapter.

Then two months later I bought the wireless headset ^_^.

  • Terrible music. Nice tutorial though.

  • is the mic working on xbl?

  • You know its easier to just use a cell phone ear piece that has volume control! I dont know if they have any that have a mute button but they probably do! Thats what I use except mine doesnt have a mute button just sayin

  • dude you canjst buy the adapter without making it for $10

  • From where? I want sound in both ears not just one.

  • i'lsend you the link in a pm cause it's kinda long and they dont let you post links here :)

  • Updated video info with the details. Thx!

  • where u get the adapter from?

  • see the comments... BUT buy at your own risk. I cannot recommend buying anything, since I have never bought any products from the site.

I have the site/ item available as to show the alternatives that exist on the interwebz

  • were?

  • cant u just buy a normal pair (head set)

  • u can jst buy earplugs wid mic with 2.5mm plug anywhere on the net......will cost u nothin..

  • Where is there an adapter that has a channel for mic and one with a tied stereo for the head phones?

  • wow. mics are like 8 bucks or less on ebay.

  • Where is there an adapter that has a channel for mic and one with a tied stereo for the head phones?

  • by an adapter from the market for 50p. allow taking apart shit and messing arounld with wires. You will fuck it up... learn from my mistakes just buy it. Easier and cheaper because u dont need to replace shit you broke trying to make one.trust me :)

  • ha i just bought a adapter thingy that converts it to from 3.5 to 2.5 cost like 2 bucks from aus driftftwbmxftwfm3ftwmw2ftwl4d2ftw

  • Yes, but you most likely don't have the audio tied together and only get audio from one ear.

  • Dam dude just buy one for $15

  • From where?

  • cant u just jus use a headfone spliterr

  • if you had a mini tto standard headphone jack, and then it would be mono vs the "mono stereo"

  • Turtle Beaches are better :P

  • Agreed, BUT 100 bucks vs 15 .... for most gamers that's a price point WIN.

  • Astros and trittons are way better than turtles though

  • My theory for it being too quiet is that the wires are too thick.

  • LOL you now you can buy adapters from real companys for 10 bucks LOL

  • where would i look for this adapter

  • Hey man, cool vid.

    :)

But I was wondering, do you think you can put up a vid showing how to convert AV Jack audiou wire to the old 2 wire(Red and Black) speakers?

  • why do you never have voice with these videos instead you make us read boring shit and listen to retarded gay songs..

  • Voice it, show it, and send it to me. Then I can re-upload it for your pleasure...

Also, if you have some site that shows sexual preference of songs I will be sure to keep it in mind for those who never played Braid.

  • The songs in 'Braid' are not gay! You are. Deal with it!

  • I said nothing about braid, i beat that game 20 times.... im saying compared to actually voice, playing songs with text for this "TUTORIAL" is gay. Learn how to read FUCKING RETARD

  • "and listen to retarded gay songs.. " The song is Downstream" by Shira Kammen, from Music of Waters. BUT if you had beaten Braid 20 times you would know that. Thus, insulting the song insults the game. SINCE it's easy to conjecture the song wouldn't be popular if not for Braid.

And good sir if you could learn to use grammar or at minimum better vernacular I wouldn't have to respond to nonsense.

  • I only have been reciprocating from your comments.

Also, I love to be a macho BA on the interwebs too....

  • Yeah your cute old man. Youtube is for the younger american population. Fuck you and where ever your from old shit face.

  • fuck wherever state you live in, stupid homosexual.

  • Ha, what a hyprocrite you are. Your saying he is trying to be all big and bad on the internet but really your being the fucking idiot. Trying to act like some really dumb black person. Not being racsist but we all know some black people and white people and mexican blablabla are like this..

  • Yes, i was listening to this and i was just like looking up and I was thinking this is from braid right?? Then i looked at the comments and i was like YES!! I was right... Lol lame story.

  • use it for harassments!

  • hi again!

Im planing on making this but im not very good with all the wiring and the jacks. Im wondering if i go to my normal eletric store and ask for a in-line audio jack 3.5mm. They will jsut give me the head piece? and how do i know that this one is correct?

I know it might be a blunt question and u might have answered it but im just making sure!!

  • they may give you a mono piece, that may work for the mic, but I like tying the headphone mono jack to a stereo so it comes out both ears.

You should need two 3.5's and a single 2.5 to have the same setup (stereo again). then determine which is ground on all of them. Tie/ wire/solder all the grounds. Tie the stereos together on the 3.5 on each part. Then wire each 3.5 to a single part on the 2.5 .... that's all I did. Then trial and error to map which 3.5 is which part for the headset.

  • i have a Speedlink xbxo360 headset adapter it is suppose to work like this, i cant get ti to work anyone know what to do???? please help

  • how is the sound quality of the headset and microphone while using the adapter you made and will i be able to hear the audio through my headset rather than my television???

  • The sound quality is inherently limited by the output of the controller and then the headphones. Better speakers is always a plus but as your battery usage continues the quality will drop.

IMO the adapter is 100 times better than the standard xbox controller headset since it allows for a two speaker setup and the choice of headphones is yours.

Then depending on the game you should be able to force head set only setting allowing for game play via tv and voices to the headset.

  • does the adapter allow me to swap to different Pc head phones by just unplugging the Mic/ headphone bits??

Do i solder the wiring on to the actual gold bits and then the wires come through the jack??

can u make a much neater drawing? please

  • The adapter allows any mic and any speaker combo. Heck you could hook it up to a mic stand and powered PC speakers if you wanted.

Check the details, and the blog for the full sized pics. If I read your question correctly you'll want the plastic sleeves on the wires when you perform the soldering. What I did was: Solder the 1/8" jacks, put the sleeves on, put the wires through the 3/32" sleeve, solder the last adapter, and finish by sliding up the cover.

  • anyone kno how to make xbox (original) headset

  • dang i really wanna use my HP Headset with my Xbox 360 controller but this looks way to complicated for me and i dont have the resources to buy the jacks wiring etc

  • i found that u can buy an amplifier for this, its like the one on the xforce i think

  • thanks but if i do this will the headset play full game sound if it doesnt what do i have to buy to make a pc headset play full stereo game sound

  • From a Q/A:

    7. Will I be able to listen to game audio using the Xbox 360 headset so that I can have my privacy while playing games?

Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 headset is still intended for voice communication purposes (and thats why it has only one earpiece) so you wont be able to use the headset as a headphones.

However, what I would do if I had the cash: Take a wireless headset plug it into my TV and then take a wireless 360 headset and integrate it into the stereo headset.

  • thanks but if i do this will the headset play full game sound if it doesnt what do i have to buy to make a pc headset play full stereo game sound

Yes you can. you just have to get the audio/headphone cable from your headset and connect it to your sounds speaker system, or back of the tv where the audio input is. or if your using a pc screen like me i can just plug the headphone cable into the headphones input on the monitor.

  • thanks
