Also, the guy with the Glock kept his gun pointed close to sighted between whistles where as the guy with the XDm brought his gun back towards his body without keeping it sighted there gave the shooter with the glock an unfair advantage also known as cheating. I have neither one of these guns but I am considering both of them this kind of bias vid kind of pushes me to XDm. Not exactly a compairson video.
If you are going to do a fair test then both guns should be new out of box and prepped in the same way. I wasn't happy seeing how dry the XDm was and I really would have liked to seen a nicely prepped comparison and this was not.
Yes, the XD and XDM are are based on the glock.. The same way the aka 47 is based on the German ww2 stg44... I have a XD and I'm planning to buy a XDM 9 mm... I tried it and its perfect.
I have the XDM compact 9mm and never had a single malfunction, but as an Iraqi war vet I know the downfalls of not having a weapon well prepared to shoot such as no lube. My XDM is very capable and continue to train as I did before I was retired and have never fired a smoother operating weapon system. I have never been a fan of not having a safety or hammer, but if I could choose what to carry into combat i would choose the XDM 100 times over and over.
Huge fan, nice video. I'm my opinion I LOVED Glocks, I own several guns including a full size .40 XDm. Never a problem with glocks but I had some feeding problems whit my XDm.
@sigmaoverglocks I disagree. From what I have seen Nutnfancy is very objective with his testing. If the XDm fails... it fails same with glock. He just states the facts.
XD for sure. I open and conceal carry my XD 45ACP 4in. When I bought it I had no firing experience at all, probably not the right gun to start out with but I was looking for something that wouldnt tickle someone such as a 9mm. Theres was so many glocks to choose from, too many and also EVERYONE has them. The BI-Tone XD 45 caught my eye and I knew that was the one. At the range I use Federal FMJ, only $17 a box! For carry I use Winchester Personal Protection. Love it to death.
way over 1500 rounds in my xd. never ever ever ever have i had any type of malfunction. mine is a .45 acp though. i practice with mine from 5 ft. up to 25 yrds + its been very accurate.
Nutn, love the videos!!! I was out at 8am yesterday shooting/qualifying with shotgun, AR-15 and pistol with my department...and I had a couple of issues with my XDM, just like what happened here. I had not one, but TWO failure to feed/go into battery...not good. I don't know if I should be concerned or not; this has never happened with my XDM before, however, I did have an XD in .45 that had similar issues...

I own both guns and i love them both and i carry both randomly at work on patrol. In my opinion they are the exact same thing "same shit diffrent smell"
Good vid, and I have to agree with the Ford vs Chevy debate. I love Glocks except that I have huge hands and tend to grip high so the Glock pinches me on the slide return so the higher back strap and bore axis the Nutn' mentioned maked the XD a better shooter FOR ME... Just my .02
This is a test of two different shooters abilities. Both of those guns are more accurate then the shooter. I carry a Glock on duty and love it. Still a good video
i was gonna get a 4th gen glock 22 for the first handgun, but my buddy bought one first so now im gonna get the XD40. That way when we go shoot together we can test out two different pistols. Already put over 500rds through the glock with my friend and no malfunctions (which is expected). Look forward to see how well the springfield shoots, black and OD green here i come
I've shot over 2000 rounds with my XD, and not one single failure. I know others that have shot more than me with not one single failure. Can't assume it's not a good gun because of one guns failures. I know people that spend over 2 grand on guns and they jam all the time. Imo, you have good and bad ones of the the brand.
i owned a xd9(sold it) and a glock 23c 40(ported barrel). i liked shooting the glock more because of the lower bore axis. I'm sure the porting helped as well but the bore axis was the deciding issue for me. never had a failure with either pistol. to each is own. everyone keep on shooting and be safe and knowledgeable. I am very interested in purchasing a .45 and I can't decide between a glock 21 and a kimber 1911. I want a full sized .45. I know they are two very different guns but they both have qualities that I am drawn to. What do I do??
Kind of an unprofessional vid. Not very well planned out. Also, please dont choose or comment one way or the other based on this vid. Both are great firearms. This would be like buying a used gun, taking it to the range and when you get a jam saying Springfield is junk. Just not true and dont be ignorant. Firearms are for responsible people, this includes how you run your weapon and your mouth.
I personally had the same issue that the XDm had in this video when i first shot my Glock 19 for the first time. i was not sure what it was but it did it to me a few time during the first shooting session with it. I have not shot it again after that but i hope it does not happen again. Any ideas on what it could have been with my Glock?
glock shines, in my opinion, in their smaller form factors only. specifically the compact models. when you go full size glock there are plenty of other guns that are basically the same dealy. the compact is the perfect balance of ammo capacity, weight, and concealability.
could the type of ammo cause the xdm to malfunction like that? ive been shooting fmj's through mine and i havnt had any problems.i was jw so i could keep an eye out for "crappy" ammo. not saying you use any, just wondering if that could have been a possibility.
For me I prefer all steel guns, the wiegth is both an asset and a burden, My CZ 85 kicks about half as hard as a M&P Glock or any other polymer framed pistol and when you use +p ammo for self defense the recoil barely changes on my CZ but its very noticeable on poly's, And thats 9mm going up to 357sig or 45acp i belive all steel is a must, Especially if you have to shoot 1 handed from behind cover or if you are hurt, that extra mass really helps stabilize, and soak up recoil. ( At least for me)
As far as Glock VS XD-XDM they are both great guns the glock is indestructable (I think the XD should shoot dry also) but i would say try different ammo like i just posted I think AE is a little weak, The XDM i think has the advantage out of the box with the ergonomics and the match barrel, I have tried to teach people to shoot on glocks and lots of people tend to drop the magazine on compact glocks less oftem on full size but it still happens
I had a Squib load with factory AE ammo about 2 weeks ago i had to hammer it out of the barrel, I was using A S&W MP 9mm at the time also the AE ammo wasnt cycling the gun as "smartly" as the Geco 9mm i buy for practice The M&P i have is brand new but the ammo was giving the same "lazy" feel im my CZ 85, I saw that a little oil cleared up the malfunction on the XD, But IMHO the AE line of federal ammo is lacking in punch, oh I was using both 115gr and 124gr AE the range had 2 boxes of 9mm left
I love the way the XDm feels in my hands, I love the trigger, I love the feel of recoil. But I carry a Glock, why? Because I personally shoot a much tighter group with a Glock when under pressure. The Glock is stupid simple but it just works for me. I sold my XD and XDm. The gun on my side right now is a Glock, it's what I carry, it's what I trust to save my life.
@alxbuby89 that has been torture tested through hell and back and come out fine and still be Half the weight of your "metal crap" Don't be so biased towards guns with polymer frames. A good weapon is a good weapon.
@GettinDemDollaz thats funny that you say that because im pretty sure he does have a bunch of other guns and im pretty sure you wouldnt be able to make reviews like he does. glock wins because it is always imitated but never duplicated. whats so great about the xd? oh because it holds more rounds but the bullets rattle loudly in the mag making it noisy and annoying as fuck?
@PorscheORviper ...LOL!! Honestly, both guns are fantastic cause I own them both. In the unlikely event of one of them malfunctioning, either company will fix it for free.
of the two i like the XD i own the XD compact .45 love it, i recent went to shooting glocks i like the fast tigger, i have stayed away from the Glocks due to the bad take down and the whole "gansta" image glock has gotton, but i will be buying a glock soon but overall id say both pistols are great combat handguns
I just watch you guys unloading down range, 15-17-33 rounds at a time, and can only grumble in jealousy... It's not even a financial issue, just damn Canadian gun laws... Only reason most of my disposable income tends to go into paintball (though I still love all these reviews, especially the gear reviews. I've taken a good chunk of Nutn's advice on the lower-cost spectrum of tactical gear)
I just watch you guys unloading down range, 15-17-33 rounds at a time, and can only grumble in jealousy... It's not even a financial issue, just damn Canadian gun laws...
@SpdDemon69 Spd...I like you, always have liked your comments, but you're being insulting to people apparently without even being aware of it. When you say things like "typical woman", that insults me, as a woman. When you jump on viewers who are new to shooting and firearms, you can chase them off with that kind of elitist attitude. I am simply asking you to be helpful and friendly. I know you can do it, as I've seen you do it before. -- Veri
@nutnfancy Yea but my first commeny never said anything about "typical women"
Anyways, i guess words can get mixed up and tone of voice can be taken wrong over the net.
Also its hard to know who knows their stuff and who doesnt, because everyone tries to be the know it all, i was simply trying to use a metaphor to describe
Why the gun jammed. Im sure by his response that he agreed with me.
@nutnfancy- Did you get a sex change Nutn? (say things like "typical woman", that insults me). J/K LOL. I know it was ur sis. Sup Veri..I had a bad day and just had to be a little on the stupid side. Take care and yea I pick Glock over XD.
@nutnfancy "When you say things like "typical woman", that insults me, as a woman."
Well actually, no it doesn't. It's only insulting to you if the insult was directed at you. You can let a comment like "typical woman" rub you the wrong way, doesn't mean Spd intended to insult you personally.
People have this funny habit of going out of their way to be offended. If a woman mouthed off to me about men being piggish, I wouldn't care. It says nothing about me as an individual.
@SpdDemon69 ...LOL!! Come on man, give me a break...Im new to all this shit. I didn't buy a Glock based on this video... I actually held the XD-D 9mm and it felt better than the Glock(9mm)...and lighter too. But I've seen a couple other videos where the XD-M jams up...which is a couple more times than I have ever seen a Glock jam ...which is never!! So Im thinking that Springfield may have "stuck their weener" in you!!
@damon323 Lmao na. I dunno the xdm is one of my next choices, i feel if u like yhe grip and feel and everything better on the xdm, then you should have got tjat. Although nobody says u cant own 2 guns ;)
@SpdDemon69 ...Right on!! Actually I think my next gun...a 9mm...will be the XD-M!! To be honest, I'm really not that worried about it jamming up. It really came down to limited cash cause where I live because after taxes, the XD-M cost almost $700 for a .45 when the Glock was a $100 cheaper. But you are right man, nobody says I cant own both!!:)
@damon323 I have a sr-9 for 9mm, love it. Was gonna get the sr40 but when i was pickn the Sr9 i saw the xdm and loved it. Im getting that in .40 and compact. For .45 im getting a springfield TRP in stainless. I think after all that ill be back into cars for a while.
I try to have every caliber, and every type of colertone. Ill have bi tone(xd), black(sr9), and ss(trp). No gun is like the other!!! Ill never own a glock though, grip angle sucls
@SpdDemon69 ..Nice!! That's what I eventually want to do also...get every caliber!! My next pistol will definitely be the XD-M 9mm with the Stainless Steel slide...it's to damn sexy to resist...lol!! But Im still happy that I got my Glock..both guns fit great in my hand.
@damon323 hell yea, if they hadnt made the xdM though, i wouldn't get the xd, its all about that "m". it looks soooooo much better than the xd. xd is like a glock
great video, i'm trying to decide on a 'first handgun' for myself for personal carry and range use. i've been shooting my fathers xd40 subcompact, and we have put about 1000 rounds through it collectively and have never had a jam. on another note, after shooting the xd i went to hold some glocks at the pro shop and they felt really weird. so i was turned away from glock. then i thought about it, and decided to hold a glock a few days later before we shot the xd, and it felt great. great guns.
I must credit this video because it came down to these two guns on what .45 I was going to buy.........When I saw the XD-M jam up, I went down to the gun shop and ordered a Glock 21. Im sure Springfield makes a great gun, but it's nothing like a Glock!!
god i want one of these springfields, im counting down the days and saving money for when i turn 21, first thing im going to do is buy a new handgun, then go to the casino and celebrate :)
And lets not forget one thing...how many KB failures have you heard of from XD's compared to Glocks? Yeah...you can clear a jam...no rebounding from a KB unless you're lucky enough to still have all your fingers and a backup.
Love my XD9 sub-compact, never had a malfunction regardless of ammo after thousands of rounds. Have 5 friends with XD's in 9mm and .45 as well, only malfunction was from some first-time reloads, but nobody has ever had a problem with factory loads. Can't compare to glock because flat out, I do not like the grip feel on the glocks.
first thing the XDM has a matched barrel and custom trigger and the Glock is factory unless you have a comp barrel installed and custom trigger so you need to start with the same gun before you compare and have the same shooter shoot both guns the same way at the same distance like you did at the end so this video is not a good comparison of the guns
Both great guns, why must we make it a debate to compare these two handguns? Both cost about same, both are reliable, both are lightweight. CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG?! Shouldn't we be focusing are debates and arguments against the people trying to lay down strict gun laws on us? Were all shooters, respect each other.
love my XD-45 you can shoot leads threw the XD (can't in a glock) XD has steel trigger, clip, I have shot over 4,000 round threw mine and never had a problem with it.
This has probably been said before but the guy on the right with the glock earlier in the shooting stayed aimed in while the guy on the right moved from high ready to aimed in repeatedly and that will affect accuracy some but that does depend on the shooter.
All three of these guys are pretty good shots.

I personally had the same issue that the XDm had in this video when i first shot my Glock 19 for the first time. i was not sure what it was but it did it to me a few time during the first shooting session with it. I have not shot it again after that but i hope it does not happen again. Any ideas on what it could have been with my Glock?
efig650 7 months ago
glock shines, in my opinion, in their smaller form factors only. specifically the compact models. when you go full size glock there are plenty of other guns that are basically the same dealy. the compact is the perfect balance of ammo capacity, weight, and concealability.
joeratti 8 months ago
could the type of ammo cause the xdm to malfunction like that? ive been shooting fmj's through mine and i havnt had any problems.i was jw so i could keep an eye out for "crappy" ammo. not saying you use any, just wondering if that could have been a possibility.

Springfield hates federal and American eagle, I have an xd9, xdm45, and 1911-a1 and this ammo jams my guns. It's the rim... Seam sharp cut and snags.

( At least for me)
SavageShooter93 9 months ago
As far as Glock VS XD-XDM they are both great guns the glock is indestructable (I think the XD should shoot dry also) but i would say try different ammo like i just posted I think AE is a little weak, The XDM i think has the advantage out of the box with the ergonomics and the match barrel, I have tried to teach people to shoot on glocks and lots of people tend to drop the magazine on compact glocks less oftem on full size but it still happens
SavageShooter93 9 months ago
SavageShooter93 9 months ago
...hands down glock. XDM is just a copy
kaox44 9 months ago
I love the way the XDm feels in my hands, I love the trigger, I love the feel of recoil. But I carry a Glock, why? Because I personally shoot a much tighter group with a Glock when under pressure. The Glock is stupid simple but it just works for me. I sold my XD and XDm. The gun on my side right now is a Glock, it's what I carry, it's what I trust to save my life.

haha nutn always trying to cover up for the glock great vid
MrMase12 10 months ago
The Glock, XDM, and M&P are all fantastic guns with no real advantage over one another other than personal preference of the ergonomics.
I personally like the feel of Glocks the best, but I would feel just as safe with the Springfield or S&W.

I just watch you guys unloading down range, 15-17-33 rounds at a time, and can only grumble in jealousy... It's not even a financial issue, just damn Canadian gun laws... Only reason most of my disposable income tends to go into paintball (though I still love all these reviews, especially the gear reviews. I've taken a good chunk of Nutn's advice on the lower-cost spectrum of tactical gear)

SpdDemon69 1 year ago
@SpdDemon69 Spd...I like you, always have liked your comments, but you're being insulting to people apparently without even being aware of it. When you say things like "typical woman", that insults me, as a woman. When you jump on viewers who are new to shooting and firearms, you can chase them off with that kind of elitist attitude. I am simply asking you to be helpful and friendly. I know you can do it, as I've seen you do it before. -- Veri
nutnfancy 1 year ago 14
@nutnfancy Yea but my first commeny never said anything about "typical women"
Anyways, i guess words can get mixed up and tone of voice can be taken wrong over the net.
Also its hard to know who knows their stuff and who doesnt, because everyone tries to be the know it all, i was simply trying to use a metaphor to describe
Why the gun jammed. Im sure by his response that he agreed with me.

TheJmikesell 10 months ago

So Im thinking that Springfield may have "stuck their weener" in you!!
damon323 1 year ago
@damon323 Lmao na. I dunno the xdm is one of my next choices, i feel if u like yhe grip and feel and everything better on the xdm, then you should have got tjat. Although nobody says u cant own 2 guns ;)
SpdDemon69 1 year ago
@SpdDemon69 ...Right on!! Actually I think my next gun...a 9mm...will be the XD-M!! To be honest, I'm really not that worried about it jamming up. It really came down to limited cash cause where I live because after taxes, the XD-M cost almost $700 for a .45 when the Glock was a $100 cheaper. But you are right man, nobody says I cant own both!!:)
damon323 1 year ago
@damon323 I have a sr-9 for 9mm, love it. Was gonna get the sr40 but when i was pickn the Sr9 i saw the xdm and loved it. Im getting that in .40 and compact. For .45 im getting a springfield TRP in stainless. I think after all that ill be back into cars for a while.
I try to have every caliber, and every type of colertone. Ill have bi tone(xd), black(sr9), and ss(trp). No gun is like the other!!! Ill never own a glock though, grip angle sucls
SpdDemon69 1 year ago
@SpdDemon69 ..Nice!! That's what I eventually want to do also...get every caliber!! My next pistol will definitely be the XD-M 9mm with the Stainless Steel slide...it's to damn sexy to resist...lol!! But Im still happy that I got my Glock..both guns fit great in my hand.
damon323 1 year ago
@damon323 hell yea, if they hadnt made the xdM though, i wouldn't get the xd, its all about that "m". it looks soooooo much better than the xd. xd is like a glock

great video, i'm trying to decide on a 'first handgun' for myself for personal carry and range use. i've been shooting my fathers xd40 subcompact, and we have put about 1000 rounds through it collectively and have never had a jam. on another note, after shooting the xd i went to hold some glocks at the pro shop and they felt really weird. so i was turned away from glock. then i thought about it, and decided to hold a glock a few days later before we shot the xd, and it felt great. great guns.
jwilke00 1 year ago
I must credit this video because it came down to these two guns on what .45 I was going to buy.........When I saw the XD-M jam up, I went down to the gun shop and ordered a Glock 21. Im sure Springfield makes a great gun, but it's nothing like a Glock!!
damon323 1 year ago
Ive had my xd40 tactical jam but it was all the ammos fault.Switched ammo, have never had another jam.xd is an excellent gun.

And lets not forget one thing...how many KB failures have you heard of from XD's compared to Glocks? Yeah...you can clear a jam...no rebounding from a KB unless you're lucky enough to still have all your fingers and a backup.
iluvincitingviolence 1 year ago
Love my XD9 sub-compact, never had a malfunction regardless of ammo after thousands of rounds. Have 5 friends with XD's in 9mm and .45 as well, only malfunction was from some first-time reloads, but nobody has ever had a problem with factory loads. Can't compare to glock because flat out, I do not like the grip feel on the glocks.
iluvincitingviolence 1 year ago
Im going with theglock
Recong79 1 year ago
people talk about glock like they never malfunction. they can and will. dont put your life on your gun never jamming
joeratti 1 year ago
first thing the XDM has a matched barrel and custom trigger and the Glock is factory unless you have a comp barrel installed and custom trigger so you need to start with the same gun before you compare and have the same shooter shoot both guns the same way at the same distance like you did at the end so this video is not a good comparison of the guns
eagleeyetreeservice 1 year ago
Both great guns, why must we make it a debate to compare these two handguns? Both cost about same, both are reliable, both are lightweight. CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG?! Shouldn't we be focusing are debates and arguments against the people trying to lay down strict gun laws on us? Were all shooters, respect each other.

This has probably been said before but the guy on the right with the glock earlier in the shooting stayed aimed in while the guy on the right moved from high ready to aimed in repeatedly and that will affect accuracy some but that does depend on the shooter.
