Actually after 25 years it's not over. You will owe taxes on the amount that was forgiven. Parents and counselors should be telling students that it is not a good idea to borrow money to go to college because there won't be any jobs in 4 years but there will be collection agencies going after student loan debt. College is an expensive scam and counselors should not be selling it to teenagers.
