Ralph is 12 in the book, Jack is 13.

In the movie, the actor of Ralph is 13 and the actor of Jack is about 14-15.

oh, and by the way, THEY ARE NOT IN LOVE. DON'T RUIN THE BOOK OK?

Actually if you read the Author's notes at the end of the book, it says that the reason why Jack wanted Ralph dead was because he started haveing feelings for him and mistook those feelings for hatred. Other than that, there really is no love-connection between them.

I think he may have meant feelings like friendship... But whatever. This is a great idea. The story should have had somethin like this in it. I mean really, if you have all those boys on an island that long, you can't expect them to still be straight by the time they leave the island lol

how old is jack at this time. his real name is

tom chapin. at that time in real life, he was born in 1944 and they made the movie in 1963. so does that make tom chapin 18 at the time. and ralph in real life at the time was born in 1947. so he was 15 off set. is that really how old they r? because they dont look like it.

well in the book it says that Ralph is twelve. It dosent say how old Jack is, but it says that he was the oldest on the island so im guessing he was around thirteen or fourteen?

asomeblossem - Yeah, they don't look like they're 18 and 15. But the movie wasn't made in 1963, but in 1961. It was released in 1963. So making the movie in 1961 would make Tom (Jack) 15-16 and James (Ralph) 12-13 :)

Well, he is about thirteen-fourteen. However, this is only a movie. If you want to find out all the real details you'll need to read the book. But, the book unfortunately only states that he is "the oldest on the island."
