W7EME. I took up your challenge. Using a single (no elevation) yagi. Not a 5wl like you mentioned, but the humble 2.5wl one. 10 elements YU7EF design. Worked IK3MAC and others (14) off the moon. Hooked now. I decoded IK3MAC when the moon was up at 30 deg elevation, that is how strong he is. Now need to get some US stations in the log HI. Sorry forgot to add that I was only running 80 watts. Give it a go, with some paitence you can get hooked.
