  • FYI below are some of the Samoic-outlier languages outside Polynesia: Kapingamarangi (Micronesia) Nukumanu (PNG) Nukuoro (Micronesia) Nukuria (PNG) Ontong Java (Solomon Islands) Sikaiana (Solomon Islands) Takuu (PNG) Anuta (Solomon Islands) Emae (Vanuatu) Futuna, East (Wallis and Futuna) Futuna-Aniwa (Vanuatu) Mele-Fila (Vanuatu) Rennell-Bellona (Solomon Islands) Tikopia (Solomon Islands) Uvean, West (New Caledonia) Vaeakau-Taumako (Solomon Islands)
  • @peacebuntou hi peace, thanks for the comment. The area of linguistics is somewhat contentious and varies from website to website etc Anuta as you note is actually part of the Tongic branch. What you noted is actually known as the traditional classification branch and now described as flawed. That is changing to using more accurate data rather than using linguistic alone, using DNA genetic Polymorphism to identify the Pacific migration which makes more sense.

  • @ ceciliasuka,,,Atafu's external relations are reaffirmed with collections from archeological work by Best, S and Addison, D. as recently in 2008.

In light of the meaning of what it means ongoing research is being carried out but 2 are notable..Historically sacrifices were offered to the the sun and 2nd solstice bearing with the sun in conjunction with wind compass...connection to Vava'u via stopping ports in Samoa (Malie/Aleipata) & area around Leone in Am Samoa & Manu'a.

  • what does Atafu mean? I'm from the village of Atu'u in Tutuila and that is the slang name for our village that i've always heard while growing up

  • please note that the link here with Tikopia was part of a history with the original inhabitants from Atafu, later settled by my ancestors from Nukunonu and Fakaofo and transferring of title to Tui Tokelau on Fakaofo. The lineage of Kava to Fafie (also known as Wahie on other Islands) to Tonuia was a family consisting of navigators. Its extension included Luaniua Ontong Java, Nukumanu, south to Tonga and westward to Pukapuka

  • Great news! If more donations are needed for medicines and other medical supply, I`d become a regular supporter. Can`t donate much for I don´t have much, but I would do it on a monthly base and try to find more supporters. :-)

  • @MartinaBC19 thanks for you help, as you know any contribution is always very helpful and I have posted pictures of Klaus voyage on a chartered boat with German doctors to help out the community on both Tikopia and Anuta. I have posted pics on my facebook page Tulano Toloa, add me should you wish to view them. Thanks again.

  • @tulano I found you on Facebook. And foudn already 3 more supporters here in Germany, among my friends. Will look out for more. Many greetings!

    Martina

  • @niguaeli Then maybe we can communicate. Kiel is not far from Hamburg. I will write you a private message with my email address and telephone number.

  • Has Tikopia finally got a a health care center or station?

  • @MartinaBC19 yes they do and klaus hypendahl did a lot of work to make sure it did and he also recently visited Anuta & Tikopia with more medical supplies on a chartered boat.

  • @MartinaBC19 Hi there, Am Solomon Islander, previuosly lived in Kiel, now residing in Hamburg. I came across your comments to Tulano regarding Solomon Islands outer islands, Tikopia and Anuta.I will follow up on the development of your Interest with others. I have friends living on those two Islands mentioned, though, myself from another part of the Solomon Islands. Will check facebook soon!

  • tui hatafu is tui manua brother son tui atua , Tui manua son Tui Tonga so Tui Tonga is Tui haAtafu coz THE TUI FAMILY START IN TUITUILA MANUA NAME AFTERT TUI MANUA THE FIRST TUI KING HE SON TUI TONGA THE FIRST KING OF TONGA THE TUI FAMILY RULED THE PACIFIC .IN SAMOA HISTORY NO KING RULED SAMOA KOZ TUI FAMILY WERE SAMOA OR THE MOA FAMILY

  • @thesamoansifi thanks for your input. As we know the extension of Tui's was an exchange of political centers around western & Central Polynesia...etc Tui Manu'a. The list of Tui Tonga is known to start from Ahoeitu 38 lineages to the last TuiTga Laufilittonga. Science is contributing a lot to the area and is providing invaluable information with archeological work done in Tokelau to provide evidence with links to Manu'a. But happy to know about your source (Tui Atafu is Tui Tonga)

  • There are many small islands in the Solomons and PNG that have Polynesian settlements. Yes its in the Melanesian area, but the people are Polynesians. Rotuma is another island , Anuta, Tikopia and Ontung Java(sp....etc.Polynesians were superb navigators able to settle these vast distant islands. These islands are called Polyneisan Outliers. islands outside of the traditional Polynesian triangle.

  • hamogunjafarmer : thanks for your post as there was a navigator on a canoe so is God on ours.

Writings by people like Sharp and to some extent Geraghty who uses phonology in trying to decipher linked pasts is hard to fathom. Geraghty's constant citing of himself in his work on "Pulotu Polynesian Homeland"

is a site for sore eyes using actual directions NE or West etc we know is incorrect because early writers did not understand mosaic directions of the Polynesian

  • @fotofota tuku e loi haha.

  • been a while but i think when posting remarks I dont want to be biased about what I say which is why I like to see links which are provided with scientific evidence.

Please read: In Search of Lapita and Polynesian Plainware Settlements in Vava'u by David Burley. This relates to: Ethnology of Uvea; published by Bernice Bishop Museum - Bulletin 145 p.36 Tokelau brothers Tua and Fafie and Tua's son Laufilitonga who is buried at the Mua tombs in Tongatapu. relation to Manu'a wil list soon

  • first we originated from the Solomon's, then we originated from Africa ?

and now we originated from Tonga ?

    wth....we are our own people!

tokelau taku pele..e moe ai te loto x

  • @EllaRoux You are not even look like the Solomon natives. You are still part of the Poly Family that happened to be so big and one island could not hold ALL of the families together, therefore there had to be some voyages and explores to find new opprtunities & islands. And that was how we went so far from each other and the original language started to change since our ancestor could not write to keepa record but they somehow manage to keep some of them by mouth going from generations to another.

  • @EllaRoux lol, you tell em sista.

  • The Tongans ruled the Pacific in the days and took some of his warriors and place them in places like this, Tokelau Hawaii to the very north called Vaihi(Far Distance). The king at the time was Tu'i Ha'atafu as these people are saying.

In Tongan intrepretation it says: Tokua koe tangata na'e folau mai mei he motu ko Tikopia ki Tokelau pea ko ho no hingoa ko Tu'i Ha'atafu and so on........

  • No doubting the Tongans vast influence in the Pacific, could you let me know what lineage Tui Ha'atafu is from....which Island...was he a part of the Tui Tonga lineage? But as for Tui Atafu...there may well be a connection with Tonga which is what I am reseaching..but Tui Atafu is known by Manu'a to come from Tokelau. But let me know about the information u have on Tui HaaAtafu in Tongan history and possible sources which exist, I am very interested to know. God bless

  • @FOTOFOTA where does it says TONGA ruled the pacific.....

we no very well tonga have a HA'ATAFU,but what the man is saying is TUI ATAFU from ATAFU TOKELAU......im also doing a reseach of the islands thanks to tulano he put this video on youtube......tai ni.................

  • Have added new video clip discussion with Taumako Chief descendants of original Atafu people & canoe outriggers of Pacific. Ongoing research undertaken.
