I used to watch this Saturday mornings on NBC. I found out later that the voice of the Grump was actually comedian Rip Taylor. I thought the character was a parody of Yosemite Sam.
Thanks for the post. As a kid I thought this show had a really excellent opening and closing theme sequence. The show in between was kinda meh to me though - I guess I wasn't really that into "magical princess" stories as opposed to rock bands catching crooks or solving mysteries. I did notice even as a kid that the "here comes the grump, here comes the grump" seemed to be "borrowed" from the "Here Comes the Judge" skit made famous by "Laugh-In".
@squeapler Interesting point. When I watched "Grump" I noticed that some of the episodes had a nod to "Laugh In" (i.e the Keystone Kop type of characters from "The Great Grump Crunch" saying "Here Come da Judge" or one of the Baddies from the "Sugar and Spite" saying "Tiptoe throght the Tulips" or Terry telling Pufferbilly to "Sock it to him')
The phrase Here Comes the Grump was in my head like many of these 60's and 70's cartoon themes that I grew up with like the classic Milton the Monster. Thanks for posting this so I know that I am not insane--well, not totally.
A fun Saturday morning show from my childhood.

The animation looks like something Dr.Seuss would have done

Cool! I still get a kick out of HERE COMES THE GRUMP. And being a drummer, I love the drum intro (possibly by Shelly Manne?).

@Gerry50ify You know something that would be cooler? If somebody did a punk rock version of the HCTG theme

I used to watch this cartoon in 5th and 6th grade. I'm really impressed at how clear this video is.
