This is my favorite version of the piece. All the other ones I've found are too fast for me. This piano version is very beautiful. I was surprised to hear this song in End of Evangelion since usually classical music is used ironically in Eva but this time it was played fairly straight. At least straighter than usual.

@f17coolplane Unfortunately everyone's getting it wrong. It's not Freunde, friends, but Freude: joy, happiness. The closest translation of "Jesus bleibet meine Freude" would be "Jesus shall remain my gladness", hence the traditional English title "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring". Besides, Freunde doesn't make sense, as it's the plural.

I think this is the best rendition I've ever heard. The nuances, imperfections, and switched emphasis (in some parts) were all done very well.

Whichever artist performed this managed to put a new spin on the piecewithout changing it at it's core.
