@dalchimsky Sorry for the delay, well with my 800 I put the preamp maybe on 8. Zakk put the preamp on ten, but since he got 6550 tubes on his marshall (the are a bit cleaner than the el34 I have on mine) I need to watch the gain. I tweak the amp and shoot for a tight, punchy sound. Then I add the OD to add the gain I need. Zakk tend to place all the knobs on his OD at 2 o'clock. I dont do that, I dont want it to get to fuzzy. With my jcm900, since it has more gain, i use the OD as a clean boost.
I reported your answer to my guitar man, who greatly appreciates your detailed, most useful "tutorial" and will find it unvauable when experimenting with the pedal+preamp combination.
Hi, thnaks for the comment. For this demo I went direct to the amp's input. I found I prefer chorus when use before the amp's preamp ( going into the front end ) That way I can dirty the sound a bit./ On the Fx loop, it sounds a bit thin and too hi fi for my tastes, but still good. SO it is a matter of opinions.
sounds great - what circuit is this based on?

Hi, nice demo and increbile sound, 101% dead spot on Zakk Wylde… I notice from the on-off clicks that you use both the pedal AND preamp distortion.
I ask you kindly, how do you set them? I don’t mean the exact values e.g. 5 and 7 etc. :-)
I mean your procedure… e.g. first raise pedal gain until you hear _____, then raise dirty channel gain on the head until ____ (or the opposite etc.).
Thank you very much and keep on posting demos
