  • I taught my Saddlebred to rear under saddle when I say "Up" and squeeze. Now I wanna teach him to lay down. I've been taking him to his fav. rolling spot after untacking him and when he starts to lay down I say "Down" over and over and give hime a treat when he goes down. He's comfortable enough to stay down while I move around hime and he'll let me sit on him and then get up when I tell him. Any advice on how to teach him to do it on command though??

  • Now I would pay a thousand bucks for a horse like that.(If I had it:(lol) My horse is a racker with an attitude problem and he gets out every time i put him in the pasture so we have to gim him either in a stall or by his self in a small pen for one horse with a run in stable.Your probaly sitting there thinking why are you telling me all this stuff?Well, anyways,I think your amazing at what you do and I would like to be like you one day.;)

  • WOW......Awesome

  • WOuld you sell skippy if so how much?

  • Not for all the money in the world. He is one of my personal horses.

    In all honesty I laugh when people ask me that because I bought him at a catalog sale for $550.00 :) he is worth a whole lot more to me than money! :) Thanks.

  • @rocknBranch lol heey just like me !! :P i bought my boy as a two year old for $500 ( my poodle costed more than he did :P 550 ;) ) i've only been riding just about 2 years now and i started training him after 6 months of weekly lessons- i also show him- as a 3 year old someone offered $3500 for him - when they offered that much for him he'd only been in training for 5 months :D skippy is a beaut btw :P

  • Amazing bond you've got!! That's just brilliant how you've taught him all that.

    I have a pony, she's a shy one, and my dream is to teach her to lay down.. I just don't know how to start, I don't want to use any ropes like most of the people do when teaching the lay down. My rent horse can bow, but I taught that with a treat. May I ask how did you teach your horse to lay down?

  • I am currently making a new video with Skippy and I think I am going to make another video showing you how to teach the bow and lye down.

  • @rocknBranch yes please do make a vid

  • Love his hat! It must've been more brushing after teaching him how to lie down.

  • oh my god, I JUST LOVED THAT ! :)

  • Awesome job!!!!! You have such gentle and quiet mannerisms!! That's why that horse really responds to you that way!!! You get 5 stars from me!!!! You know how to work with horses!!!!

  • Hey, great vid - like the lay down a lot!

    How did you teach the "sit"? did you teach him to lay down first and then come up slowly? Or did you use one of those big sit-bags?

  • I taught him to sit from lying down. It works a lot better when I want him to sit when I am on him. I don't like using any aids because I want him to be able to do his tricks anywhere and not worry about needing anything. He will do everything without me having to touch him.

  • how do you teach a horse/pony to lay down for you to mount?

  • I, too, was concerned about his slipping on the surface of the stool. He slipped both without you on his back and with you there. Don't want anything to happen to EITHER of you talented individuals! He's amazing. You've done a wonderful job of teaching him. Great partnership.

  • when we shot this we had sprayed a non-slip surface on the stand. He had shoes on and it didn't seem to work well. I have rubber on the stand now, and I try to keep shoes off of him. The ruber matting is safe. No worries!

  • you are so lucky to have a horse like that!!!

  • its so weird I ride a horse named Skippy that is a palomino quarter horse

  • WOW that was soo good! This is an amzing horse! i hope you do well with him! i might have to steal you both to train mine lol :) I love your facilities also :D xxxx

  • That's amazing!

  • what happeneds if he mystriously disapeared one day and ened up in my house? lolhes beautiful

  • COOL!!!!!!

  • cute horsey hat lol

    ~~~Dortae~~~
  • I love trick training too...but not so good as you. 3 horses and one mule...LOVE It Up
  • Beautiful job...what an inspiration.!!! I am proud of you both.
    The stool might be more secure for your dismount with a textured surface so no slipping happens.
  • it has a rubber non slip surface
  • Is a thing of beauty you are doing.
  • WOW Bianca that was awesome... you are good girl. Keep it up.
  • wow!!! thats amazing!!! what a great bond(:
    i wish i could do that with my horse..this makes me want to try!
  • I love his cowboy hat!!
  • LOL! love the play dead trick!
  • wow
    amazing
  • i can get my horse to do tht with a treat and me puling his leg back but how do you get him to do without do tht?
  • aw hes such a sweetie!their bond is so obvious!
    he loves her as much as she loves him!<3
  • Awesome tricks! What a sweet horse.
  • I would say your crazy for getting on that stool while you were on his back..but then again you probably have a great trust...so it's not crazy to you.. hehe.. Great job. he's beautiful
  • Mkay.. girl.. your awesome. :).. truely amazing.. man if i had a horse :P
  • How did you teach him all this dont just say alot of time and patience please
    horse is absolutely gorgeous too!
  • Wonderfull! Exspecially when he's standing on that 'table'.. but isn't that a little slippery?
  • no it is not slippery there is rubber matting on the top of the stand
  • this was amazing!!! your horse is gorgeous!!! i love how when youd set your hand on his back he layed down. i was wondering if you could tell me how you did that? it was amazing and i would love to teach my filly that!
  • wow your awsome, I want to teach a foal to do that
  • wow, this is amazing .
  • That is AMAZING! I can't believe how much that horse trusts you. He is gorgeous!
  • the next pokerjoe=]
  • trop super ce que vous faites avec!!
  • That was excellent. You should send a video to Oprah...or Ellen. They like things like that. I have a pony that I trained to nod yes when I ask Do You Want A Scratch. She also gives me her hoof when I ask How do You Do. She loves scratches so I just scratch her all over when she does it. If you make some videos I am sure people would buy them for training tips. I would. Keep up the good work. Nice quiet clever horse you have there.
  • wow that was awsome. i got both of my horses to lay down but but i can't seem to get them to do it on command. can u give me some advice pleazeeeeeeeee!!!
  • where did you get the table that he stood on, ive been trying to find one for ever.
  • This is so wonderfull to see,exactly what I would like my horse to be able to do!
    How do you teach him all this????
  • Do you do Parelli? A lot of that stuff is taught through them. Good luck with Skippy!
  • No I do not do Parelli. Thank you!
  • that was sooooooo cool you must really love that horse :)
  • Wow, that was SO cool!
  • Very IMPRESSIVE! I did have a horse that once loaded up in the bed of my truck(with all 4's) while I was in th house and when i came back outside, I was like"What in the world?" The trick was to figure out how to get her back out without tearing up my truck! LOL
  • great job training that horse
  • Thats great :)
    Do you do this for fun, like on the side of your job?
    Or it teaching horses your job?
    Just wondering :P
  • 3:22 min! xD
    lol
    Wow, you both are awesome!
    Great video! ♥
  • Thankx!!! :)
  • You could take that to a circus as a high school riding sensation - especially the going up and down over the pedestal. Going to that narrow stand already is difficult - but letting him step down (not jump - as he would have liked) and keeping him so long with his back up - that is something I never saw.
    And if I had not seen it done by you, I would have considered it to be impossible.
    Great! Thank you! Let´s see more of your tricks.
  • Thank you very much! :) I would love to do something like that...but I haven't had anyone ask me about it so..I guess it will happen when the right person watches this video!
  • very nice ...
  • Oh thank goodness, a good calm trick horse with a competent rider. Kudos to you, buddy!
  • It's a shame I am selling my champange coloured half arab who does a ton of tricks. He'd make a near perfect twin and trick duo with yours.
  • do you know jackie johnson ?? her video is found by typing jaxnreamo her special horse reamo is a palimeno . i bought her book she is an amazing trainer. she is also the one helping me with my training via email .
