To those wondering about the ammunition. Some of the rounds here are Lapua subsonics. I believe they use a 200gr. projectile and I am not sure of the powder load. When I load, I use a 200gr. projectile and a low bulk density powder. I have been very cautious about loading for sub-sonic speeds (below 950fps to compensate for added velocity from the suppressor). Google "develop subsonic" and you will find some good info. Good luck!
Turbefan11 (Cont.): I live in Arizona so the temperature is fairly high at the range and open desert. I found the Surefire to perform the best under these types of harsh conditions. I have put a lot of rounds through this suppressor and have had no loss on performance.
I will try to address all the questions posted in a couple of posts (yeah haven't been on youtube in a bit...I know).
Turbofan11: Yes it is the model that fits over a locking mechanism that doubles as a flash suppressor. The model number is Surefire FA762SS. The flash suppressor/mount is a Surefire CA762SSAL/RE. I have shot a few different suppressed .308s and I prefer the Surefire.
I'm building a Steyr SSG 69 PII and was considering either the SureFire with Muzzle Break attachment or an SAS Arbiter Ti with QD muzzle break. Which do you think is a better suppressor? Why did you go with SureFire? Thanks.
this might be a dumb question.... but about how many fps is the subsonic ammo? i know its alot slower i just dont know how slow it has to be to be subsonic
@SNIPENACE Buy a decent reloading handbook. Its all about the projectile you use, the key is to keep the speed around 1000 fps so i can vary between guns, buying a chronograph is a good idea. Test out different loads with a very heavy .308 projectile with a good BC to maintain atleast some reach.
Hey im building a surpressor and am needing some dimensions and was wondering if u could help. The dimensions i require are; over all length, out side diametre and inside diameter where the bullet leaves the surpressor. If u could help me with that it would be much appreciated. Thanx
@Yamaha246 If you ever have to ask for those dimensions, you shouldn't be building one for the sake of your safety and those around you's. Do further research outside of youtube and remember to get your license.
@Yamaha246 Just so you know, if you mess up lining the internal bafflings or you don't make the holes the right size, it'll explode in your face. Look into it a bit more, otherwise just buy one, for your own safety, and the safety of those you invite to watch the testfire.
great job with this video, very well done.

Damn, whats the weight on the projectiles used for those subsonics? Huge for a .308.

littlecopeman 1 year ago
@littlecopeman has to be under 1100 fps@ sea level. Most people load for 1000 fps.
Daytonaman675 1 year ago
@littlecopeman The speed of sound is 1125 feet per second... so it has to be going slower than that.
MyChemicalBromance 2 months ago
@littlecopeman < 343 m/s : <768 mph : < 1126 fps

Can you tell me how you load your subsonic rounds please?
