Yes, classic 30 has enough gain to play all of these rock bands. Maybe you'll like a boost pedal just for some solos.

im thinking of selling my marshall solid state MG for a peavey 30 so i can have some real tube tone do you think i should do this? does this amp rattle at high volume?

I'm sure you will get a nice tone improvement! Peavey C30 is a great tube amp. C30 has a cronic problem with rattling. But you can install a tube tamer (a guy sells on ebay) to prevent this thing. It's not a big problem, but if you crank the volume, you can hear the tubes rattling.

Guns n' Roses is my fav band of all time. I also LOVE Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix. The heaviest I'll ever go is like Velvet Revolver or Metallica, but anything beyond that like Slipknot...FUCK NO. If I buy this amp with an Ibanez Tubescreamer overdrive pedal, will this amp make me happy?

YES, it will make you happy. You 'll have great tones for all those sounds you wrote, except Metallica (thinking old Metallica). Using another pedal you can get metal tones, but not with amp+TS.

a ts9 is a nice pedal, my pastor has a ts9, and a sd/9 they are sweet pedals, like he needs them tho he uses a johnson all tube modeling amplifier with everything, pretty sweet tone, he plays blues

Tubescreamer is a great pedal. I like it. But you have to agree that it's not suitable for metal tones.

har har randy also used 100w marshall heads, maybe that had something to do with it? a classic 30 is much more akin to other 30 watt amps than monster 100w heads with a lot of tube overdrive and a mxr distortion + which has a LOT of gain to play with.

Yes, I recommend it. I think it's a great amp, not just because is cheap, but because it has a great tone. I like both clean or overdriven tones, great deal for blues and rock.

I use a cheap mic, SM58 type. The brand is CSR. I place the mic towards to center of the speaker, close to grill cloth.
