  • Hi, Nice sounds. What are the ohms of each coil in the Unbuckers? I am getting ready to order some and I would like to get in the same ballpark as you.

    Thanks,

    William

  • @ni77y

Not sure. They are stock, so what ever his "normal" winding is, i.e. they are not over or under wound.

  • So Arthur, can I blame you for the fact that this amp is currently being shipped to my door?

  • hey man NICE playing! Some day I hope to be able to afford booteek amps too.

  • hi! do you know how much it weights?

  • Great playing, but you might be crazy.

  • very pretty clean sound!

  • you have a similar playing style to Gearmandude!

  • how long have you been playing for?

  • hello Page McConnell

  • can this amp get anything close to a plexi sound when cranked all the way up?

  • Not sure this is quite like that. This is an EL-84 amp....

I think the Dr. Z Remedy is his plexi-style amp.

  • is the fan on that thing pretty loud. just curious as i have the same amp and the fan seems a bit loud. not that you really hear it if you turn it up past 1

  • The fan is loud....I'd unplug it for recording.

There's other noise happening here......not sure what the origin was. There's a dimmer circuit in that room, so that's often a culprit.

  • i couldnt hear the fan on yours at all. sounded great. thats why i asked about the fan, as mine is like a a jet engine firing up and down when turned on and off. not to the point of being a nuisance. i guess theyre all like that though. i was just curious, thanks for the quick response. i also noticed after checking online that mine isnt the only one where is cover is starting to peel back. looks like he didnt use the best glue.

  • Wow, great tone. Nice Jazz passage as well.

  • How is the clean of these amps?

  • @Tim8tei Look up the song "Tiny Vessels" by Death Cab for Cutie. Terrific clean Dr. Z tone. The overtones are incredible.

  • Your tone is simply beautiful. Just ordered their Jaz 2x10. I heard it shares the front end of a Maz with the back end of a Remedy (via 6V6's). My hopes are high. Anyway, great demo. Feel free to update with a proper mic at any time ;)

  • what you were playing around 2:00 is the perfect tone for "black" by pearl jam! haha. excellent playing!

  • Comment removed

  • you're right!

  • Ahahah yeah, just load on a whole lot of reverb

  • Sounds beautiful!

  • Beautiful demo - great tone. Thanks for posting it.

    Chain

  • great variations from the es35. Some of the nicest sounds I've heard.

  • lovely stuff!

  • I have a Dr Z 38 with 2x12 celestion blues. Its the best sounding I've play...and I've played many

  • What ratings are the pickups?

  • The windings were stock; i.e. not over or under wound

  • Thanks!

    That's a 2x10

  • Sounds great. What speaker configuration? 112? 210? 212?

  • I just sold my bridge Fralin Unbucker(9k ohms)...I didn't know what I was missing until I reinstalled the stalk pickup:-(

  • Damn if I could afford it, awesome sound! Nice phrasing too, love the playing

  • Excellent demo, man. Thank you.

  • Good demo. Nicely done.

  • Man, I got to get another Dr. .Z, i had a mini-Z, but sold to get a custom Artinger...I miss that little amp.

  • Exceptional Demo Arthur..

I am l considering buying one of these amps and I am grateful for your demo it really showcased this amp extremely well.. nice playing.. great tone

Does this amp have a built in reverb or just the effect s loop?

    Kudos from Vancouver Canada

    Christopher

  • Thanks,

My amp has reverb, no loop.

It is made with any combination I guess. The reverb model has a distinctly different sound......weather the reverb used or not

  • This is one of the better demos I've seen - great tone and playing! Finally someone who plays great!

  • Thanks so much. I appreciate that.

  • What's mod #1? I cant find it anywhere on the forums. and what does it do?

  • Look for "News from Dr. Z" in the forum

  • wow that sounds insanely nice and chimey yummmm

  • Thanks a lot bro!

  • Hey, great demo. I never knew the versatility of the coil taps until now. Big fan of the MAZ tone and actually prefer the more headroom 38, also thinking of picking up a pair of unbuckers myself. I still got crap stock PRS pups.

You should definitely post more electric guitar videos. Sounds like you got a pretty awesome setup already. I'm still experimenting with different setups. I would also love to hear the whole tune that you played in the first part.

  • Great demo; you did a good job with EQ and provided a variety of sounds. I like DR. Z and love my 335, too. Thanks!

  • You're welcome, Larry. Thanks for visiting.

  • smokin' lead pickup; nice, wish i had enough money to get one

  • For a crappy video mic, that sure sounds awesome.

  • People tell me the Maz 18 has a bit more gain than the 38, which seems to be true. Do you find the 38 has enough gain for most musical styles? What style of music would you say it's well adapted to perform?

Thanks for reading my rambling :)

  • That's true.

Lower gain styles. Classic rock and blues. Not a high gain amp at all.

  • Thanks for the prompt reply! I was going for a John Mayer/Stevie/Hendrix tone, so it seems it will perform superlatively. :)

    Thanks again,

    Josh

  • Sure.

It's should be able to do that. If you need more, fuzz or overdrive pedals will do it.....

  • What are your output readings on those unbuckers? I am in the process of ordering a set

  • I don't know off hand. I know the coils are wound with the single coil part hotter.

I think they fall in the middle range or winding. I got them from Acme and I think they stock them in the middle range.

    Hope that helps

  • Hi, i was thinking of putting an unbucker in my neck of the les paul. Can you tell me how that coil tap thing works? Do you need to solder the guitar or anything?

  • You need push pull pots and you will need to solder. Check Seymour Duncan's page for wiring schematics.

  • fralin pickups are amazing, cant wait to put some of the paf's into my tele

  • what gauge strings do you use for that guitar?

  • Pretty sure D'Addario 10s here

  • sounds awesome, IDK if the slight compression is from the amp or the camera/youtube, but it sounds great!

  • compression is from the video camera, maybe youtube as well.

  • it sounds really great, I really like your style.

  • What's that you played first??

    Beautiful!

  • "No Trouble at All," one of my originals.

    Thanks!

  • LOVELY clean tone. Zverb sounds GREAT! Nice playing, cool chords.

  • I LOVE IT!

  • Nice Z tone! See ya on Doc's forum (Hohn)

  • Very nice sounds...which string set 11's?. I would like to know the wiring schematic/diagram....thanks.

Looking forward to receiving my Unbuckers to upgrade my 80's MIJ hollow-body. - K

  • Take a look at the Seymour Duncan site. I think I used a diagram from there.

    If I recall that's a set of Elixir 10s.

  • Could be the most fuzz I've heard on a vid. But still can tell the tone is phenominal. Playin aint half bad either...

  • I love this video. Very classic...

That Gibson sounds like a wet dream in your hands.

  • c'mon arthur give us more lead pick-up,sounds great

  • thanks.

I have some blues footage that I did minutes later on the lead pup. I'll post it over the next couple of days.

  • This is amazing

are you a member of Z talk
