I own and have read his book, "Manufacturing Consent". Very good read and highly informative if one is to ever understand why they "believe" as they do on major issues.
Don't listen to the mainstream media so called "right" or "left" they both attack Ron Paul .. Ask yourself why is that? Because he's the REAL DEAL .. a Real Guy who actually Cares about America somehow got in the Presidential Race .. Are we going to allow the Corporate Controlled Media to convince us that he doesn't have a chance when in reality he's Polling in the Top 3 in all Nationwide Polls?
Nows the time to take back our country from this Left / Right monopoly! Vote Ron Paul 2012!!!
Oh well. So he exposed the system. Great. He still collects checks from his weapon designer buddies, MIT. Nobody will do anything about the coming end. It's 50/50. A great transformation or a grisly end for all. Meh.
Big Brother is here and has been for some time. For an additional eye-opener, check-out "The Century of the Self", a BBC broadcast in 2002. Those of us who do "have an ear to hear" and heightened awareness must communicate. There is a terrifying disguised power amongst us and it doesn't like truth or liberty.
religion used to be the preferred method of indoctrinating the masses with propaganda in order to control them. now that less people believe in superstitions and myths, the goverenment uses the media instead as its method for manufacturing consent.
"The enormous gap between what US leaders do in the world and what Americans think their leaders are doing is one of the great propaganda accomplishments of the dominant political mythology." - Michael Parenti

@TheeUnidentified Scary stuff!! And, sadly true. My parents had their suspicions all along but I often attributed that to the transgenerational trauma of people once enslaved. I've often challenged my own thinking and observations and thought I was being paranoid, defensive or rationalizing my own failings. Now, I see more clearly and pray that God is as real as I want and need Him to be! Otherwise, the future is not a pretty picture.
@Bodhidharma1986 Who exactly are you talking? I just don't believe my life is controled by a mysterious group of people. Capitalism is a system with an inherent logic that even the capitalists have to follow, it is not controlled by anyone. Hate the game, not the player
Yeah, I hate the game that creates GMO-foods in government-protected major industry that poisons people everyday for profits. I hate the game that says it's okay to destabilize foreign economies so that your corporate interests are the only interests represented. I hate the game that creates money out of thin air with a central corporate non-accountable banking system that doesn't back its balance sheets. I hate the game that allows indoctrination to persist. Hate the players too, they allow it.
@Bodhidharma1986 What falls out of this perspective is a critique on the plain ‘vanilla’ exploitation - that lies in every wage dependant, commodity producing labour. In capitalism the economic actors are following a rationality that is forced upon them by the economic relations themselves Someone who primarily criticizes what is defined as ‘criminal’, acts on the level of critique of an attorney. The fallacy of such a position is: Capitalism would be all right if everybody would respect the law
No, they wouldn't respect the law because it's not profitable to respect the laws. Look, if it costs less money to pay out million-dollar penalities than to pay say $5 Million to clean up industrial-waste properly or pay living wages and follow regulations then what do you think the corporations will do? They've followed the latter repeatedly, paying the courts in "settlements" instead of doing the other tasks. Chomsky is one perspective, there are others. I'm not solely a Chomskyan.
@Nullsleep your argument reeks of the very-American 'well if you're not with us, you're against us' mentality inherent in nearly every government policy. Capitalism can be reigned in to what is called a 'mixed economy' where the government interferes in the interests of workers and the environment. This is not 'communism' or 'socialism' (it exists in Canada, for example). You also need to realize that capitalism CANNOT create indefinite growth in a world with finite resources. It is flawed.
You act like capitalism just persists and that the players who create the conditions have no responsibility. When they're the ones who make people poor, hungry, and inaccessible to further their happiness and possible freedoms because of a system that THEY designed and perpetuate through dishonesty to the public. What's wrong with people like me who think it needs to change because it's a MATHEMATICALLY UNSUSTAINABLE system? You should take a closer look....
@Bodhidharma1986 They? Who designed capitalism? Why don't you stop to work, stop driving around in your car, stop buying cheap stuff from china. No one planed or created capitalism, it is a system that reproduces itself through you and me, behind our backs. Thats what Karl Marx wrote, but Chomsky wouldn't know that, he has an anarchist background, so everything is a big conspiracy by a few rich people to him.
I work to support my mini-farming establishment (i'm a real green type, not the bullshit consumer who goes to whole foods, sorts their garbage and recycling and says their "green"), I don't drive a car (LightRail train and bus works for me), and I don't buy Chinese goods most of the time (buy American Apparel clothes, american farm tools, local food from a year-round farmer market i participate in, and so on). Doing what I can. Chomsky is one anarchist, there are other perspectives out there...
@Bodhidharma1986 Thats good. But i guess for most people it would not be an option to live on a farm, and it wouldn't be possible. So, the option for a better society would not be to abolish the bourgeois society and reorganize poverty in some kind of rural national collective, but abolishment of poverty alltogether.
I actually don't live on a farm. I have a large lawn that I tore out and just grew lots and lots of crops on. Lawns are useless. Just used a rotatiller, fertilized it with organic stuff, and planted. Bought my chickens from a local farmer only 15 miles away. I dont think returning to egalitarian elements completely abolishes the classes and dont imply it. It's a start in one direction for one problem: natural food and anti-corporate food. Like previously said, just one option, there are many....
People act like changes can't be made and we all just shrug our arms. I can't accept it. If people just took an extra 15-20 mins to do something like start a mini-farm at home, or grow something, or read damn books anymore, or start a compost pile, or recycle with local recyclers who dont ship it to China, or TALK to people, or start little clubs we may have been better at fighting this stuff. That's all I stand for, anarchist or not, Chomsky or not, who cares? I'm just a guy who observes....
@Nullsleep Yes you can. If you read any real business literature, the point that the PR industry and the ownership/investment class wants people to reach is that they want to turn people in mindless, non-critical thinking consumers who consume endlessly, procreate, do their jobs, and internalize elite values against their own interests. Look at education. Why is education declining? Because it's a system of imposed ignorance, desired ignorance imposed by elites. Evidence is overwhelming...
@Bodhidharma1986 Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. But it is sure easy to blame others for your stupid decissions. Besides that, what is in my own interest is not always clear to me and therefore people can't always act rational, even without an evil 'elite'
@Nullsleep So....it's a conspiracy theory when this class of people writes about the public in a way you don't agree with? They consider you a statistic and a worker bee for their cause and they consider you as such in their own literature. What's conspiratorial about that? What a stupid theory you've got....poor Proles....if you could only see....
Now, Chomsky, do I turn to thee, and mark my greeting well; for what I speak my body shall make good upon this earth, or my divine soul answer it in heaven. Thou art a traitor and a miscreant, too good to be so and too bad to live, since the more fair and crystal is the sky, the uglier seem the clouds that in it fly. Once more, the more to aggravate the note, with a foul traitor's name stuff I thy throat; and wish, ere I move, what my tongue speaks my right drawn sword may prove.

This was an amazing documentary, a must watch for every single citizen of this world. I consider myself lucky to have met lecturers who have met Chomsky, and I can tell you now, he is awe-inspiring. To them and us.
The average twat on the street won't know him from Adam, but the moment you enter university, reading Chomsky is an imperative priority.. A necessity.
One thing though, this is not, or rather should not be part 1, the beginning of the documentary is seemingly cut.

Its very regrettable that an intellectual such as Noam Chomsky has fallen to such economic fallacies in his rhetoric. He could have been a very afluental libertarian. His economics poisons his world view. A very tragic icon indeed.
Chomsky is critical of the Government when it invades civil rights, but yet he also praises it when it regulates Business'.
@KIRKRH1 Unfortunately, Mars2084 channel has been terminated due to posting copyrighted material. Why would anyone wish to shut down Noam Chomsky's full video, I have no clue. Seems completely counter productive. I mean either you desire to awaken the populace to the censorship which we are manipulated with...or you don't. Unless of course, even the producers of Chomsky's enlightened revelations are lost in the pursuit of wealth, just like the oligarchs who control the media.
This man is my mentor!! He is so intelligent !! When I read his book, although I keep up with counter information, I was amazed at the number of victims the Us produced around the world.
My postings only add up to less then half of what was on the dvd. I highly recommend getting your hands on either the book or the dvd. It's well worth it ! I'm not sure if it's just my internet connection, but it takes approx. 5 hrs for a 6 min. upload. Needless to say, I just picked the chapters I liked the best.
"The following content has been identified by the YouTube community as being potentially offensive or inappropriate. Viewer discretion is advised."
As noted by others... what the hell? I guess the suggestion that people should think critically about democracy is offensive to some? Go figure.
