Tager isn't cheap, he's just retarded noob-friendly. No offense to veteran Tager players, he definitely has complexity and is hard to play when you go to pulling off his higher damage combos, but let's be honest. That fifteen hit combo you do still does less damage than one of his throws, and majority of people just spam his throws hoping to get lucky. And don't tell me "Oh just avoid them" Tager was specifically built to trap you into his throws, his entire moveset is based around it.

I know you're joking but I like how people complain about Tager... as if he is the first grappler character to grace a fighting game.

They're supposed to do ridiculous damage... and if they're damage is only slightly above average, they normally have a couple other options to make up for it (such as Zangief's Lariat, less frames for throws).

Imo Tager plays like a nerfed Zangief.

However, his magnetism is fun to mess around with.

DUH. but his lack of mobility and hitbox are so easy to abuse with every other character and THAT'S why he's considered low tier. the reason hazama and noel are considered S-Tier however is because they start combos off of anythting. hazama has 2 dp's and both noel and hazama have hitstun's on easily abused moves. @TheBlueMario on top of it all, each of those hitstun moves will net hazama or noel around the same damage as tager's grabs or even more. the most ive seen off hazama is an instant kill combo and with noel you just cant escape even after the combo is dropped anyhow. thankfully CS extend is being released this winter and looks to rebalance alot of hazama's HAT TIER issues. same with noel. her hitstun is being nerfed considerably. tager has no need for a nerf. he has ALOT of openings. just find 1.

I'll be the first person to say the genesect emrald tager buster should do a tab bit less damage (around 4500 seems fair to me) but beating him is entirely possible. Lambda sorta kinda destroys him, provided you're able to keep him too busy blocking to use spark bolt. and even when he does, staying out of his range isn't very hard.

He has high damage to compensate for the lack of opportunities he has to deal damage in the first place unlike Lambda who does less damage but can attack anywhere on screen.

I always found Tager easy to beat; sure if you mess up you will get destroyed because he does a lot of damage, but he's not that hard. Hell I think Carl is a more unfair character, the only thing holding him back is people like me who just can't use him properly. I admit, I dislike how his one grab not only makes him invincible while launching it, but it takes 1/4~1/3 of your health and it's not even a distortion, and coupled with his back hop (I find it odd that Tager's back hop makes him invincible during the beginning, but most characters back hops give you no invincibility) makes him hard to fight, but that's just the thing, he does one slow attack and you can get him in a decent combo, you just gotta play the waiting game with him.

It's all about controling distance and anticipating his magnatizing to properly counter.

When you use a combo attack against him, make sure the first few hits, hits him hard enough to be unable to trigger his grabs. And simply STAY THE PHUCK AWAY from him when his heat gauge is at 50%. Though his distortion drive has a strong magnetic attraction, if you're far enough from it, keep back dashing and it'll run out and he'll waste his heat and you can rape him. :D

Actually, ideally, you should have a separate strategy for every single player. In fact, strategy should not even come into play in this game. You are given a bunch of tools. All you need to do is use them on reaction when your opponent does something.
