she invented the "sqeeze box" to calm cattle. it was used in some schools for children to use for themselves to cope with over stimulation. she was lucky to have made it. most don't.
i have autism i also think in pictures, can be hard to follow a conversation,i get floded with pics,my hearing is so sensative, and i cant filter anything out,i have had a deep love for all nature and animals from a child,,,loved this movie so mutch,,,
i saw myself in the interview with the doctor... as a mother it hurts terribly but just like her i was determined for my son to have the bestetstest life he may have AND deserve! he started reading at the age of 3 and he can write and spell everything... and he is only 5 .. that's my boy!! my pride and joy!!
@abcd12345 i think playing temple and embodying her the way she did (along with reading her books) shows that she knows a lot about her. she did an absolutely fantastic job. getting the year wrong of her birth was just one mistake.
@mortisha69 Me too. My mum was lucky to have seen it in the US whilst on holiday. She keeps telling me, "She's so much like you. She reminds me of you." And every time she mentions it, I get really frustrated because I'd really love to see this. Temple seems like a wonderful role model for autistic people.
@hlenard1 Very true, but this movie depicts the 60's and 70's... when she was heading into college in the 60's and then through the first part of her career in the 70's.
@hlenard1 I dont think she meant to say 'born' in the 60's.......she meant 'grew up' in the 50's and 60's..........it doesnt matter, anybody can see what she meant....her point that the condition wasnt understood when Temple was a child was conveyed.......regardless, Claire did a tremendous job :) My son has autism and I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

Around 1:40-1:50... I suspect that's the "Did the whole cattleyard sign this?" visual thought moment, when Temple envisions a signing cow.

@newfreshreview Wait, just watched up to 3:00... probably just a stunt cow. lol

I wonder how Temple feels about how the Japanese treat thier cows in Kobe, Japan

@hlenard1 I can't believe Claire Danes goofed up Grandin's birth date! Temple Grandin was born in 1947.
