Has anyone got any opinions on gel batteries? From what I have read, they seem to last less than a lead battery as well as costing twice or thrice as much for the same power. Now I am curious what the point of them is. Any thoughts?
I have two Trojan 6 volts in series, in my boat. What type of digital meter do you recommend to monitor the volts. The analog volt meter seems useless. thanks.
i have at least 2 lead acid 12 volt 12 amp hour batteries that have not had any acid in them for quiet some time. i can get distilled water and put it in there but, should i charge the batteries before i put it in there? also, how should i charge it when it gets the distilled water? before i knew it had none in it, i charged just the same. it charged the same as the other batteries that have distilled water in it. what should i do? and they are not car batteries, they are small black batteries.
Hi, I want to link a 12 volt battery & a 6 volt battery together. I already have a 12v 100AH Deep Cycle, & understand the AH rating needs to be the same, but I want to use them together at under 18 volts. So I would need to have the 12v @ about 11.5 & the 6 volt @ about 5.5. I only need a few 3 second bursts of use. Would the batteries still give a strong current? Or would they perform weaker at those voltages?

there is an invention called "batteryivee" ypu can google it, it basically maintains your batteries automatically, i have it connected to my battery bank in mexico and my batteries havent needed maintence for months, i know the inventer and he is currently working on a system for rv's, boats, and golf carts, check it out for yourself "batteryivee"
@IamDemetri00 Yes, all flooded lead acid battery's produce hydrogen gas when charging. It is very explosive, so the batteries should only be charged in a well ventilated area and keep any sparks and open flames away from a battery being charged.
@tkdteen2 its sulfuric acid and distilled water only. The water evaporates and needs to be topped. this is only for wet cell batteries. AND NOT MAINTENANCE FREE.

how many years life span of deep cycle battery?
lexam55 1 year ago
@lexam55 If it is properly maintained and charged a deep cycle battery can last six to seven years.

Do deep cycle batteries leak hydrogen gas during charging?

cuz breathin in hydrogen gas could probably kill u right? so maybe not a good idea for vandwellers to charge their power battery pack in the van...

putting water in what not sure you are supose to water them

Is it a good idea to put the deep cycle batteries in some kind of insultaed enclosure?

Yes I am just learning about marine electronics but they come in rubber encasings and plastic.
