Motorola radios rock ! Good reliable solid state radio gear. Motorola have made some pretty decent phones too, one of my best mobile phones was a 3W Motorola Transportable on the analogue network. In some ways far more reliable than digital, had a lot more grunt for starters.
@lildany300 If you're referring to the MDC chirp at the beginning of the video, that's the sound of the radio muting the rest of the MDC1200 PTT-ID signal. Motorola calls it DOS or Data Operated Squelch. You can set it to be loose or tight depending on how much of the MDC 'screech' you'd like to hear.
@TheWrxmaster Yes you can. The inconveninet are 1 very bigg, 2 very expensive, 3 to much unusuall options for one regular usser, 4 the body like goberment look a like.
I Have an xts3000 with mdc set up and cant get it to display the id of the radio that is transmitting. i can not find the button in the software or something. Can you help me out?
@BLAKETSAFD If your radio does not digital id feature in the flash code,it will not decode MDC-1200 id.For your to decode the id on the display, the flash code must start with a "5".
Actually the XTS5000 I think has the option to have that chirp feature activated whilst the XTS2500, 3000 and all doesnt have it. Really I find it cool, just so you know you know you can talk... or just to let you know you have a clear open communications path.
lol that would be nice. haha i read somewhere- it might have been a joke- but a volun ff keyed up his mic accidentaly while he was doin the dirty with his gf. lmao.
@bpdexplorer129nc Its not ment for that. Its called Enhanced Digital ID...used with digital systems. Its not a noise like nextels, its an actual data burst.
@ve3xtr Ah, I believe it's an 'SP' part from Motorola. Call the Motorola CGISS division and ask them about the Chronometer interoperability module. ;)
ok question i have an on duty radio for the PD and an off duty radio both xts 5000. when my on duty radio decodes radios it sounds like it did in this video. however my off duty radio has a different noise. this ticks me off cause the noise is loud. why is this ?
serious inquiry, looking for off duty unit and do you have any currently for bid or sale? pm me, looking vast at prices from third market and direct. thanks
Does anyone know if there is a pager system that works with 800 mhz? My county is trying to go to 800's which is great for police and our EMS crews that are always in house, but our Volly FD doesnt have duty crews, its pager only. Thoughts?
Simulcast the dispatch channel on a VHF (or low band or UHF for that matter) freq... people can't talk on the pagers anyway, plus it will allow extended range. Tones can be transmitted over the dispatch talkgroup but if it is digital they will sound funky, but still work (you just can't tone people out over digital voice)
That's what most people with 800's are doing in our area. Only thing that I don't like about that is that you can only hear the dispatch Tx, not apparatus or portables. Thanks for the input though!
It depends on how it is set up. An EDACS network near my location (with analog voice) has it setup to repeat a dispatch channel, so it picks up both sides of it. It can be setup to work like that. Think about how a repeater site will sometimes use a radio on the input side that is connected to one on the output side - the input side would be a trunked radio set to the appropriate talkgroup and the output would be the conventional VHF. The point is it can be done
Can you decode my unit? Can I encrypt my MDCWTF-1200 and P25? I tried to talk on the police frequences, but I think those pesky civil servants bricked my special xts5000 unit of the future. Any quick way to unbrick my special rigid plastic molded radio friend?
how are they pesky? your the one whos a pesky little fuck talking on public safety repeaters! youll probably be needing for a "pesky civil servant" to save your sorry ass one day in a fire.
Never got to comment about it, but I must say you really make your radios sound fun as hell. I also love how you have other items in the back ground, its like EYE CANDII!!
