I understand if you feel comfortable playing with your snare in that angle, it's nothing wrong with that. But soundwise it looks quite impossible for you to play rim shots as accents with that angle. Ever considered that?
Dude, awesome! Have to say that i wouldnt do that many fills with a band around, but thats been covered already :P my cover is nowhere near as good as this, good job!
i agree that it's a nice cover but i hope if you're playing this with a cover band you don't do that much fills because when it's a drum vid like this i find it ok to turn up the fills a little but i think it would be too much if a band was around
beside that there is only one thing i would change about the cover
the 3 stroke rough in the refrain is a little "bumpy" so i'd practice it some more
Sure I would not play the same if a band was around ; I assume to play a 'drum' cover here.
Also, about that 3 stroke rough (and a couple of breaks), I was inspired by the Blackest Eyes record from the album Futile Ep, this song being recorded Live At Xm Radio. This version's more punchy indeed, I suggest you listen to it !
Must also add that he actually does not have much more fills than in the original song of Porcupine Tree.
Furthermore I will advise you to stop playing counting on your right cymbal in the pause. He might do it live, but you shouldn't, it kind of ruins that part of you'r cover. Live and cover is to different things mate ;-)
although, that angled snare... I couldn't do anything with the snare in that position :)
Can you at all accent notes in that position? And by accent, I mean hit rim and head at the same time? i don't really know the term in English for that type of stroke...
well, I don't believe that's what I meant... rimshot, as far as I know, is often used in slow songs, latin, jazz, etc.. What I mean is basic stroke, but while the tip of the stick hits the head, the middle part hits snare rim, so you get more attack, sharp, and much louder sound... I use this always while playing beats, except in fills.. Some drummers, like this guy, don't use it at all.. Know what I mean now? :)
With that snare it's hard to make rim shots.. No i'm just trollin'. You're good :D

That was very cool. Nice work. Thanks :-) I notice your snare is on quite an angle. Could you explain to me the reasoning behind this? Cheers

@tubefac3 I'm afraid there's no better reason than "i feel comfortable playing this way ! "

@DrumHarder
I was about to give the same advice. You are a simply INCREDIBLE drummer, but a few of the rolls could be smoother.
Amazing cover though.

yeah it is a rim shot. Thats cross-stick our thinking of- the base of the stick on the head, the midle hitting he rim.
