  • the first appearence of superman back then was worth 80 thousand now it is work 1.2 million in perfect condition.

  • Hi I was wondering because it was on the video I have a comic I found in my attic its called detective comics #27 it's quite battered I was jw if it was worth something

    Thankyou?

  • I wonder what my Foil cover Mantra is worth , along with my Spirits Of Veangance black cover . Boy , brings back old times .

  • the kids in 3:23 all have big noses lol.

  • I love how they thought that TMNT would never be worth anything but the 1st issue could go for about 1,400 in near mint condition.

  • So Superheroes were going to be the big thing in Hollywood during the 90s, too bad we got films like Steel and Batman and Robin, and we had to wait until the 2000s before we started getting good Superhero films like X-Men, Iron Man and Dark Knight

  • 2:24 LOL . 80,000? HAHAHA It just sold for a cool million!

  • @SCORNDOGGMELACH

Guess it's true about never throwing out your old Toys, Memorablia, Pulp Magazines and Comic Books one day they could make you a millionare and allow you to retire

  • Heh. World's First Batman Cosplayer 1:25

  • the first teenage mutant ninja turtles comic is worth around 10,000 dollars

  • Nice hair @ 3:45

    lol

  • Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to give you for it, I am glad that the bust in the comics market happened investors and speculators ruined the industry.

  • teenage mutant ninja turtles is still awsome and always will be

  • 1990, Comic book films were going to be the toast of HOLLYWOOD.........uhhhhh, I guess they would have to wait 10 years for X-men to hit it big for comics to be the hottest property in entertainment.

  • I love this video...the guy talking at 1:32 is so full of shit. People back then would get into comic book just because they thought they would be worth something...then in the mid-1990's the market became too saturated and now those comics arent worth crap. Read comics to enjoy them, not to profit from them!

  • It's funny, the guy who was saying buy comics to put kids through college! Hopefully they had a plan B.

  • With the 90's boom and now trades, comic collecting isn't much of an investment anymore. It's good because I can afford to get the key issues I always wanted as a kid, but bad because resale of single issues has dropped significantly due to the trade paperbacks being everywhere. No one wants to pay $100+ for 1 issue with part the story, when they could spend $20 on a trade and get the whole thing.

  • Comic collecting will always be an investment for key issues. Things like the first appearance of Batman or Superman will always hold or increase their value. It's modern comics that will never attain such levels of value. They have too large of a print run to ever become scarce, and people take such better care of them now too. Back then kids read them and threw them away, thats why there are so few copies around of the golden age books.

  • In the 90s, many popular books had print runs in the 100,000's, now a popular book may print 10% of that while most hover around 5,000. Look at the numbers, they don't lie. And trust me, so many people got burned during the 90s speculation of value that few still bother to bag and board seeing it as a waist of time/money/space. Will current books reach golden age levels, no but when I got my copy of Avengers #4 for under $200 because reprints are easily found key books aren't investments anymore

  • @kingsman1288

Golden and Silver Age Books are the ones that are worth the most, due to the war and the anti-comic hysteria of the 50s (I've seen photos of Batman and Superman comics being set on fire by church, American Legion and PTA groups) and of course kids throwing them away when they got older. I collect Video Games, Books, Star Wars Memorablial, Superhero Comics and movies but I don't care about collector's values since I've already decided my kids alone will inherate my collections

  • yeah I collect batman comics :D I went to 2 hobby shops in NYC, NY with my cousin. Forbidden Planet and Midtown Comics has awesome comics! Love the stores! I bought like 20+ issues so cheap $2 a book. Anyway yeah I board and bag mine ^_^ I'm gonna put em in binder soon.

  • i dont mind the comics i got some but i like my manga just because my fave old ass cartoon was manga

  • hahahaha i used to watch the flash show, but something nagged at me. Deep down inside i knew it sucked ass! i was a kid then. im an old man now. hahaha nahhhh i still love comix!

  • The biggest problem with the Flash show is their villains sucked.

  • I felt sad because in 2000 all my local comic book stores where closed out :( I use to know the owner at the one in the mall who was selling pokemon cards in 1999 and comics :D I miss the old days :) There is still one card shop at the mall, but I will ask if they have comics? New store ^-^ anyway, yeah comic shops are dying out, I miss them ^-^ I use to go to one every weekend :) I hope to find some soon :)

  • This segment aired during the summer of 1990. TMNT was released March 30th, The Flash was released on Sept. 20th and Cpt. America was released Dec. 14th.

I really loved the Flash TV show. The costume was better designed than Batman's just a year sooner.

  • i find it very interesting that thought that comics are like stock and go up in value. I was a kid then and my mom told me the same thing. Then by 1995 the comic book speculation ended and comics became worthless. Thank you for posting this video!

  • Things only become valuable if they're rare. If everyone preserves their comics, it's not some rare item people will shell the money out for.

  • Thats true, things are only valuable if people are willing to to shell out the money for the object. I don't know a lot of middle class people who are willing to spend $100,000 for one individual comic book.

  • But rich people would if there's only a few in existence. Whereas if you've got thousands upon thousands of people bagging and storing their comics, they're not a sought after item.

  • I like comics, but I like Spiderman.. They have the running long comics too.. I use to like Powerpuff Gitls comics, but they died out, so I just stick with one hero, Spidey

  • Fuck those cunts at the end, I'll admit that most Batman and some Flash is better than TMNT, but fuck superman. TMNT is gonna be around for quite a while.

  • now detective comics and action comics the first appearances of batman and superman are up to 250,000 thousand pounds

  • wow both batman and that superman comic go for 800000+ pretty good price jump

  • Holy Shoulderpads!!! lol.

  • me to.

  • I like how this video gives out the information on comic book collectioning.
