  • In terms of the names, you missed out bass-fiddle, sometimes shortened to bo-fiddle, used in the early jazz age.

  • In Denmark we have a saying that goes like "kært barn har mange navne" roughly translates to "a person loved by many has many names". That is the case for the double bass or upright bass or bass fiddle. At least nobody called it a cello!!. I have heard that a couple of times in my career as a.... bassist :-)
