I'm impressed! The Minelab is truly a performer from what I've seen and heard...but living on a fixed income, it's a little out of my range unless I could get a deal on a used one. The X-Terra I heard is also pretty good, what coil would you recommend?
@Docdaugh Hey Doc, I would probably recommend the X-Terra 705 Gold Pack, the stock coil is the 10-inch elliptical 18.75kHz high freq coil, which is great for small gold. If you purchase the standard X-Terra 705, you will get the 9-inch Round mid freq coil, which is better for coin and relics, also waterproof unlike the 10-inch elliptical. Hello Nuggethoggin, If you look at the bank, the target was originally a good foot or so deep. You are just seeing the end of the video once we got down. The video would have been 15-20 minutes of digging if I filmed the entire dig.
when u say highly -- mineralized.....whats is the mineral exactly? up here in oregon at the quartzville mining district the hot iron rocks are everywhere....so i learned to recognize them and kick them out of the way...or id have to turn down the gain on the GMT..to get stable threshold...some times they are so thick i have to clear them all out first then detect the area....a pain but necessary.Im in no hurry when i detect..id rather take the time to cover the ground than just walk on rsvp.
Just wanted to toss this out there also, Bruce Candy, one of Minelab's Engineers just was awarded one of the biggest awards for technology in Australia. Just goes to show what they have on their side. I truely wish White's, Fisher, Tesoro and others has the same, but they don't (at least at this time).
humm i think that needs to be proven on a case by case....or detector by detector basis....i dont think ya can lump all vlf into one basket......after all vlfs operates at differentl frequencies and the discrimination circuits are not all the same either. your profit on one of those is about 1k or more per sale,do the math folks
@buddymacs I do agree with you, some VLF's act differently, but for the most part the circuitry and technology is the same. There is a huge difference between 20-25 year old VLF technlogy and PI, let alone MPS, DVT and SETA advancements through Minelab. I'm not sure what profit has to do with anything, besides saying I'm pushing them over others. I sell just as many X-Terra 705's and Eureka Gold's, if not more.
Hello Buddy, I have used all the VLF over the years and a VLF wouldn't have found this target when we originally heard it. The video is only showing the target at a spot that is obvious. The original target was pretty faint and a VLF wouldn't have heard it in mineralized ground at this depth.
White's make great detectors, but the GMT wouldn't have heard this. This is the major advantage of a Minelab PI and their depth abilities.
Hello All, This location is around the Wickenburg area. The Tesoro is a good VLF gold detector, but will not perform as well as a PI or Pulse Induction metal detector. These detectors will get more depth and much more immune to mineralization. I don't think I would invest in another VLF detector such as the Eureka, save up for a used or new PI if you can.
I have a Question. I'm also in arizona. I have a tesoro supertrac. What is your opinion on that detector? Is it a good detector or should I buy another one.I want to stay around 1000.00 until I make my finds pay for a minelab gpx 5000. so would the Mine Lab Eureka be a better choice to look for gold. I've heard mixed things about the tesoro super trac and the Eureke. Thanks Brad
@bradmoore8 Hello Brad, The Tesoro Lobo ST is a good VLF gold detector. Like all VLF's, they have their limits on moderate to mineralized ground. The Eureka Gold is a bit better, but honestly wouldn't benefit you enough to purchase another VLF. I recommend you save up for a PI, used or new.
@mstreasureseeker Hello, the area is in central Arizona. Really can't say much more than that besides it's on private claims and surrounded by private property. Hope you understand.
Hello All, It was unrelated to metal detecting. The nugget was solid and was covered with dirt, which most all nuggets will look like when they are unearthed. I have yet to find a shiny nugget, unless it was in a current waterway.
Ya, we have a unhappy friend that day out there. He was upset over another guy, but wanted to yell and scream at us over it. Almost ruined my video, just goes to show when you get a good find, something has to screw it up! (Murphy's Law)
Awwh poor guy at the end sounds like he's not having a great day. :/

Nice, the nugget was only like 4 inches deep in hard pack, i could have found that no problem with the Fisher F75...

@buddymacs LOL .... if you say so. The VLF can't hardly even ground balance on this ground, let alone punch down more then 3-4 inches.
