  • Epic ending.

  • Gotta love the ending :)

  • Great vid, I love that you had fun with it! I am one who looks for light penetration with good expansion. Thanks again for your work, it's brilliant.

  • Thanks for the review

  • The FBI chose Winchester PDX1 ammo over Hornady Critical Defense for their new .40s&w ammo.

  • @NWguy83 And why should we care?

  • @Thelonesniper101 Because the FBI puts its ammo and weapons through some of the toughest tests ever. But i can alreay tell that you are one of those people who thinks zombies are actually real.

  • @NWguy83 No, no I don't. When I refer to "zombies" I typically mean a SHTF situation. But with all the diseases, parasites, and countries that hate us out there, It IS possible. Watch the History Channe's History of the Zombie.

  • buy it and dont shoot it i hear the cry babies want this stuff gone because people think its a "toy" i have 9,40,223, and 12ga boxes sitting in the safe and when they pull it like those black tallon rounds 20 bucks turns into 50 lol naw im going to keep it these are cool rounds

  • i like how you say "pol-E-mer"

  • First 20 rounds through my brand new Kimber. Cool box. Will be buying more. They need a 50 or 100 round box.

  • Hey TNOUTDOORS9.......... can you melt down the ballistic media? I'm just starting to use the newspaper and one gallon jugs but I want to use the media, I just don't want to east it for a few shots

  • These are probably outlawed in Kalifornia for having a scary name.

  • Nice pop can affect

  • Well, I am happy with a round that I know will expand and not over penetrate in any self defense situation. That's why I want to see what a 1oz 12ga wax slug does to denim and ballistic gell!

  • Everyone loves a good zombie apocalypse.

  • raises hand like a dumbass... Dam I fell for it but great video just what I was looking for!!

  • i wish people would stop with the under penatration ..i do not need a round that go's on through the walls of my house and into a person outside....its best to have a round that can dump ALL the energy in the first 7-8 inch range..no one will be shooting through glass or doors ....this and extrem shock are great rounds ..i have the air freedom in the gun that is with me and my wife at all time..i know it works and i will not over penetrate and kill some one walking down the street..

  • this is basically Hornady Critical Defense FTX in a different color and packaging, hence the less than 12" penetration, which is marketed toward the civilian shooter (shoot-n-scoot)

  • lol

  • I picked up some in .223 just case the shit his the fan

  • ouch!evilsmile!

  • Dont have for .40 caliber?

  • I hope this stuff come's to Australia so I can buy a pack just collective purposes

  • Beautiful Ending!

  • I Iike the way you spray painted your table to look like blood and the zombie touch at the end was cool. Great review!

  • GREAT TEST AS ALWAYS! Cool to see a ballistics test with this FUN round.

  • I wonder if a court of law you frown on you using zombie max ammo in a defensive (non-zombie) situation : )

  • @POIFarmer In a court you'd be made out to be a lunatic who's waiting for actual zombies to kill, and in your boredom decided to go after humans.

Ammo is ammo, shouldn't matter what you use.

  • @POIFarmer THANK YOU. I completely agree. Just waiting for the first court case where somebody actually uses it in self defense. I could hear the lawyer now... "You mean you bought "zombie" ammo that you used to shoot my underprivileged client?"

  • haha awesome ending

  • I'm a zombie and I find this offensive.

  • lol the green thing look like a little hand

  • I'm not American but a shooter, and i'm really beginning to think that all this zombie fuss = itch to shoot human targets.

    Really scary.

  • @00oBladeo00 It's a euphemistic expression of a breakdown of society where you may have to defend your home against say, rioters or a tyranical government. It's alot easier to visualize shooting a zombie than an actual human.

  • @jwash3rd Well, i know and maybe that's just marketing, but... I feel it's like riding people's paranoia and fueling it... I'd stick with something like "critical defence", "HD", etc. sometimes i see things and discussions about "zombies" knowing that they mean human aggressors but with such... details and seriousness it's almost scary to me. Don't know if you catch my drift...

  • @jwash3rd Oh and that's an interesting bullet anyway. I like the concept.

  • Another great vid and the end was shockingly brilliant.

  • but wouldn't penetration be bad for scrambling zombie brains? I mean judging from the ballistics gel that expansion would definitely make scrambled zombie brains.

  • Maybe I'm an old fart with no sense of humour, but I just don't think that things designed to save your life, or the life of someone else, should have such silly names.

  • @TeflonTron Well, the funny part is it's showing up on some close out shelves already, so if you like Critical Defense you can pick this stuff up cheaper. Some people are buying them as an investment hoping they'll go up in value like the "cop killer" Black Talons.

  • do they make this round in 230 gr?

  • R.I.P headphone wearers at the start but thats a good type of rounds

  • Critical defense is also nickel plated brass.

  • I would laugh from the irony if I found this ammunition during an actual zombie apocalypse.

  • @05anonymous50 and then take every single box :)

  • @05anonymous50 s2.favim . com/orig/36/fuck -funny-gif-haha-liar-Favim. com-293329. gif

  • I gotta get me some.

  • wow, .22lr cci round nose penetrated farther than a .45 acp

  • Ok so I did a little research and looked at what some of the experts said about defensive ammo. In the process of researching this round and several others I found that this line of ammo has had numerous failure to fire and the 357 rounds have actually locked up the action of several revolvers. I won't be using Hornady any more. I selected Corbon DPX loaded with the Barnes copper X bullet. It is extremely impressive. You want deep penetration DPX and Gold Dot are my choices. Thanks for the vid!

  • Plz do a ballistics gel test for the grizzly extreme!!! you would be the only one to do so! =D

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice shot placement. The bullet had some very nice expansion but the penetration was not that much. Great video and again your video's are so cool and high quality. Okay, just a quick question, so do you think the SIM-TEST media is comparable to a Zombie head?

  • I'm not trying to be critical, but isn't one of the points of expansion to control or limit over-penetration? Thanks!

  • How do you take good care of your 1911 ? What chemicals do you use ?

  • WARNING:This is NOT a live ammunition

    This is a toy

  • You don't need large amounts of penetration for headshots ;) Just maximun expansion and weight retention to blow zombie skulls wide open.

  • nasty

  • In the 9mm it comes with straight brass vs the Custom defense is nickel washed or plated. Some say it aids in lubricity, for me it was a dollar cheaper, and Im fine with brass, then Custom D so I get the 9mm Zombie loads. are any of the other calibers of Custom D nickel too?

  • It peels like a banana

  • Thanks for the videos. Have you ever tested or thought about testing Grizzly Xtreme 45 ACP??

  • Those are halirious but I wish they did them in +P

  • lol did anyone else notice the .22 holding up the m1911 in the beginning?

  • Hi tnoutdoors9

Thanks for the great vids. Would you be able to do some tests with semi-jacketed ammo in 9mm? Its the closest thing to expanding ammo that we can use in Europe and I am wondering how much it will deform in gel or other medium. Thanks a lot.

  • hornady was just thinking of the inoccent zombies behind the terrorist zombie

  • yeah but zombies are rotten, allowing a little further penetration than in a person

  • People are talking about zombie and buying guns and bullets and my question is: Who is going to be the zombie? Zombie were people so that means probably you will be one of them. Buying guns doesn't means that you are not going to be infected. Or , are you thinking to be an Armed Zombie?

  • zombie chili? id eat it

  • did that guy just vomit all over his ammo?

  • 1 person is a zombie

  • got the same scale for my pot... good video!

  • did a cat pee on the table at the end? lol

  • Sorry. wanted to add it from a 44mag.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Is the FBI 12 in. spec. with or without denim? And if with demin how much? Everyone says my Lasercraft 240 gr. "Oregon trail silver" semi-wadcuters are over kill, but a 45 acp is underkill? I just wanted to know what you thought. Great work. Thanks for the vids.

    TSFG

  • lol 0:35 u can see the gun is propped up by a 22 shell

  • I have some of that and very impressed with it, I use the critical defense as my everyday carry load.

  • @ZombiesGuns

as do i critical defense is in my g30 hornandy xtp critical defense and speer gold dot is the only ammo i will carry in any weapon.

  • so....what is so special about this ammo?

  • @kevinlovecars the green tip is proven to be 100% more effective to a zombie's brain than the red tips would.

  • i must have!!!

  • Nice ending :D

  • I know if a zombie bites you, you turn into a zombie. but what if you bite a zombie? will the zombie become human again?

  • @KironStrife HOLY SHIT. We've found the cure!!

  • @KironStrife No, you will turn into a zombie.

  • @KironStrife the chuck norris theory, he was once bitten by a rattle snake, after 3 days of pain and suffering the rattle snake gave up and died

  • @KironStrife No you would become infected.

  • @KironStrife no you will turn into a zombie because his DNA will exchange with yours and his DNA is more dominate

  • Comment removed

  • @KironStrife a zombie will become human if chuck norris bites them lol

  • @Ridven64 if chuck norris bit them they would become superman but not as strong as chuck :)

  • @KironStrife Nope, you will taste something Awful. Kinda like school lunch mystery meat, but Greener.

  • @KironStrife lolol... very good point! Your idea should be made into a film, think about it :)

  • @KironStrife YOU STILL BECOME A ZOMBIE

  • @KironStrife my friend said if a zombie bites him he will bite the zombie back so they can see how it feel

  • @KironStrife You turn into a zombie because you "ate" zombie blood! :D

  • @KironStrife No, the infected tissue will simply enter your system through your mouth, likely causing you to be infected yourself upon swallow.

  • @MeowdolfKitler I said bite not eat! XP

  • @KironStrife Yeah, but after the said bite, you will need to cleanse your mouth of every last infected zombie tissue, which is pretty impossible because some will remain in your mouth on a molecular level, and you'll swallow eventually.

  • I guess it's good so it doesn't over-penetrate.

  • Zombies are real! I see them every day. Watching American Idol and The Young and the Restless. Not sayin' we should shoot them, but they can be dangerous if you reach for their Cheetos

  • it could be a good load if they did it in +p

  • just give me two 10mm hand carries and 4 boxes of ammo

  • so what exactly makes these rounds more singnif?

  • n1

  • Are these for real? If they are, it's funny that even the proper ammo companies are buying into this whole 'zombie apocalypse' thing. It is a myth you know!

  • settle for nothing less than FULL METAL JACKET! WOOOOO

  • 1 dislike was a zombie who survived a headshot.

  • Hey mate how much were they just for one box?

  • I had wondered what this round actually was. I thot it was a good promo, but u needed to know exactly what you were buying.

  • Check out RBCD platinum plus ammunition 45 A.P.C.H 90gr over 800ftlb! BEWARE fastest way to find out if your 45acp pistol is crap. The gel would be a lot better clear and the gel goes back into it's shape to a point and were not able to see the hydro dynamics or call it hydro shock wave. I've never seen with color in gel like that.Get A 10mm for C.C.G if your it to going so deep or killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

  • did a zombie jizz on you at the end???/

  • LOL! The ending was great. Very well done my friend!! Great test and info as always. Thanks!

  • Big fan,

I'd like to see a test with fiocchi 45acp 230 gr in sim test product # 45T I think you'd be very impressed with the results.

You are the best on youtube, thank you and keep up the great work.

    Oregon plinker.

  • The test should be on bone penitration. Once you get through the skull you win. shooting the torso of a zombie is just a wast of bullets.

  • FBI requirements do not apply in this case. Zombies have soft, decayed skin and tissue, so the manufacturer places less of a premium on penetration in the case of zombie defense ammo.

  • @mfblackburn1980 i know right, all you gotta do is get inside the skull

  • @zmizusawa I 100% agree. I'm not shooting through car doors, pine board etc during a personal defense encounter with a short barreled gun. To discount a bullet because it lacks 2 inches is silly. Isn't that why we carry multiple rounds and a spare mag?

  • Everyone talks about under penitration. A human torso is only so thick. I rather have a bullet stop at 10" and transfer all its energy to the target, than penitrate through, wast its energy, and risk penitrating through the wall.

  • @zmizusawa

I agree. But I think the FBI idea is that you may not be shooting straight on; you might be shooting from the side & have to go thru an arm before torso. Or a cop may have to shoot thru some obstruction before he hits the body. So I guess they had rather hit & penetrate the body significantly despite obstructions, tho that means an unobstructed straight on shot will go thru the body & come out.

  • This load in 7.62x39mm will do a nasty job on deer and thats what you want i hate for any game to suffer and i wish thay made this in 10mm.

  • we shouldt find the disliker and test the ammo on a real human .

  • Great review! Thanks!

  • I raised my hand....

  • 501st like lol no dislike thats a youtube record

  • This is the same load as the critical defense.

  • @bradleywalters1

Oh, I guess he says that at the end. Lol. I posted that at about 0:30.

  • I was one of the ten. Had no clue

  • Why do you want more penetration? If your only shooting headshots as you would be with the zombiemax more penetration would only make the bullet pass though the head and maybe wound or kill any human standing behind the zombie.

  • Love your vids! Been following for a long time.

Just 2 questions. One reason I don't carry Hornady CD is that I'm concerned it won't penetrate glass if I happened to be in a scenario where I needed to. Do you think my concerns are valid?

Also, if it's possible could you please please please try the Magtech First Defense and/or the Magtech FD Justice in your Sim-Test? I would love to see that.

  • That was funny at thw end of the video " there are no such this as...... SLASH

  • If you're not doing any more Zombie Max testing I guess we won't have to pitch in to get you some green SIM-TEST media.

The ending was quite a surprise! Are you un-dead now?

  • And who is the zombie certification bureau? What is their testing regime?

  • Unless your shooting 500 pound fat people with a thickness of several feet of fat. A few inches will kill somebody. Head or chest shot more then a foot of penetration will almost always over penetrate. I guess there is just a lot of fat people to shoot where you live. lol It only takes a few inches to enter most peoples chests and about a half inch to a inch enter the head. Unless they have fat heads.

  • @BrooklynXT1 Perhaps it was meant to shoot fat zombies!

  • I bought some of these for the novelty of it but I wont buy anymore. I'll rather get the Hornady Critical Defenses which are pretty much the some ammo with plated brass.

  • I dunno, Rambo had this crap that he stuffed into an arrowhead. One shot, 50 foot bridge vaporized. That's what you want for the green tip in this load, the Rambo vaporizer insert. When Joe Cool is in front of me mumbling brains, i want a load that will make his head just kinda disappear. Just my two cents but your zombie mileage may vary.

  • Great test, great expansion, but I agree I dont like the 185g and will stick with 230.

  • So does that ender lead to another video? Just sayin... Ill be watching.

  • I do believe...I do believe...I do believe in Zombies...

  • @tnoutdoors9 I would say to qoute a favorite movie " You're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat"

  • I absolutely love this channel

  • I'd really like to see a test of Hornandy Critical Duty, those are supposed to go above and beyond FBI standards, wonder if they really do.

  • do a job on deer

  • Nice ending!

  • Fantastic... ending made it all worth it.

  • would this work on bigfoot ?????

  • @Blk05titan26

I doubt it, his fur his too thick. Plus, Bigfoot has started an aggressive weight lifting routine. I went outside the other day and my Jeep had been moved 25 feet.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Great, now Bigfoot is stealing cars...

  • @tnoutdoors9 i also heard he started wearing a bullet proof vest.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Just to add to this. A friend and I have been loading some 7.62x54 rounds really hot just for Bigfoot, and it seems his fur might be a natural carbon fiber.

  • Good video, on duty I carry the 230g Gold Dot in my Glock 21, of duty I carry the same in my Glock 30!!!

  • Your chili comment didn't make any sense

  • @cdbrag your face doesnt make any sense lmao

  • Not surprised given the light bullet. Just a gimmick.

  • but zombies do not wear denim hats! but i understand for the consistency for your tests the denim is needed.

  • @tnoutdoors9 If I am not mistaken, the heavier, slower 230 gr critical defense offers superior penetration with the expansion. I think it had the best overall results in your tests? Does zmax come in 230?

  • Nice test. Great expansion, but like you said low penetration = low potential for incapacitation. Totally agree about the gimmicky marketing.

  • Have you seen the grizzly xtreme it would be cool to see those. You do the best test I've seen keep it up.

  • Another great video. Impressive expansion but I agree. I carry the .45 everyday and I too am a fan of heavy for caliber. There's just more momentum behind it.

  • once again fantastic vid and love the sense of humor. Given the reputation for 45 ACP to over-penetrate from short-barrels (in standard loads) I'm thinking this might be a perfect load from say a Kahr PM45. I'm always looking for excuses to pick-up a new gun... and this vid is just the ticket! My wife will hate you.

  • You scared the crap out of me at the end.... =P

    Great ammunition test!

  • Wonder if you had a squib load. On Hornady's website (the .45 CD page) they have a picture of the .45 Critical Defense in ballistic gel, which they claim is behind "heavy clothing" penetrating to 13.5 inches. Not challenging your results, just saying.

  • @irishScott2

I'm thinking either a variance in the gel composition or thread count/weight on the denim. My gel was at the low end spec, they could have been on the high end. The denim I use is close to IWBA spec; it is consistent from one test to another. My denim sources were not consistent when I did wetpack testing.

  • @irishScott2 A squib load is when the round is loaded with no powder and the bullet gets lodged in the barrel.

  • @huntwithairguns Technically yes, but I've also heard it refer to accidentally under-powered loads (factory mis-loading) in common usage, from several different sources.

  • ZOMBIES are real let a meth head or bathsalt nose bleeding brain dead ZOMBIE come at you!!! And then we will talk again if you live.

  • The lower penetration depth mite make it safer as a defense round in a neighborhood.

  • yay I'v been hoping you would make this vid about the z-max .45!!!

  • Why would you need more then 10 inches penetration?
