A personal note: I had a physically and emotionally abusive step dad. He never drank a drop. I, on the other hand, occasionally have a beer or two at home. I'm affectionate and supportive towards my kids with or without alcohol.
A drunk is distinctly different from someone who drinks.
Addicts are often abusive - alcoholics are most recognized, but there are rageaholics who are much like alcoholics minus that particular substance abuse. A rageaholic is a "person prone to extreme anger with little or no provocation" (wikipedia) - sounds like the sort of person that abuses children and spouses, right?
She has also written songs for artists such as Michelle Branch, Kimberley Locke, and Mandy Moore. Amy Lee (no relation) of Evanescence mentioned that Plumb was one of her inspirations. [4]
That's the only thing that Evanescence has to do with Plumb...inspiration! Just incase someone else wants to argue with that fact.
@t0talDestruct10N You're right, it's about being human. If you're one of those rosy specs-type believers, you WILL NOT like Plumb. This song, Pennyless, Send Angels, and Cut are harsh doses of reality. In scripture, Jesus equates what we do to being a doctor. How can you find a cure if you don't know the symptoms?
Plumb (Tiffany Arbuckle Lee) has been around longer than Evanescence has. Amy Lee sites Plumb as one of her vocal influences but both are fans of each other's music. Plumb has written for Evanescence before. She has also written for Michelle Branch and Kimberly Locke.
She co-wrote the song "Wrong" with Kimberly Locke and she also co-wrote "I Wanna Be With You" with Mandy Moore. I'm not too sure what songs she wrote for the other artists.
That's really cool, I didn't know that. It's funny that she helped right "I wanna be with you" for Mandy Moore because that song reminds me a lot of her song "Stranded". I think they sound a lot a like at times
we need more songs like this to describe how disfunctional your family can really be. it can be confusing you are fed every night ,but they hit you with their fists and then tell you that they love you and shower you with hugs and kisses after saying sorry. until the next time
I don't think evenasseance is comparable to plumb.. more like Bjork! originality is everything.. not to mention the message behind the melodies..

Can somebody please tell me what this song is talking about? I love this song a lot, but I don't know what it means.

It's about an emotionally abusive father, who's probably a drunk. She wants to be strong and forgive him anyway, for his and her own sake.

Evanescence writes their own music and have never needed any other artists help in doing so. This lady is very cool though.
