@baneat I know that my Kimber Ultra Carry II has a Half Cock safety position. Anyone jump in a correct me about this, but IIRC it is to prevent an accidental discharge from not fully cocking the pistol that could otherwise cause severe injury or death.
Its amazing that the man designed this pistol with all this safety features without any requirement or regulation of any kind. He placed them there because he saw them as needed and didn't take any shortcut in designing the pistol
Good video, I am just wondering I noticed that the 1911 in this vid is a modern 1991, but are the grips on it original series 70 grips or does Colt make reproductions of those grips? I am curious because I noticed that from the factory the NRM 1991's and Series 70 repro's just have plain wooden grips with no Colt medallion.
@airsoftloverusp first off do you actually own one of these firearms secondly if you do put your hand on the front of the barrel push then try to squeeze the trigger while pushing it
@paintballer9608 It's not so much a safety as it is a function of the sear. Pressing the barrel back will move the slide rearwards, pushing the disconnector down out of the depression in the bottom of the slide much as it does every time the pistol is fired. The trigger won't reset until the slide is back in battery and it's released.
@TheHiddenPart I couldn't, since the half-cock would keep the hammer from falling unless I had my finger on the trigger, but then it wouldn't matter anyways, as that's going to be a ND either way.
and thats the way it is?

Nope, didnt you that. But thanks to you Larry, now I do.

Isn't there also a half-hammer safety to prevent the hammer from hitting the pin because it was pulled back in your pocket?

@baneat You are correct. Colt series 80 have four safeties. The one he doesn't mention is half-cock (well, more like one-tenth cock).

It's refreshing to listen to a mature adult on You Tube demonstrations.

@paintballer9608 that's not a safety, it's the disconnector.
And it's a flaw..

No Half Cock?
skater91411 1 year ago
@skater91411 half cock has never been intended as a safety feature.
In fact is not advisable to carry a 1911 with a hot chamber and the hammer on half cock.
TheHiddenPart 1 year ago
@TheHiddenPart Half-cock is still better, when carrying a loaded pistol, than is carrying at full cock or with the hammer down.
AreThereNoMoreNames 1 year ago
@AreThereNoMoreNames John Moses Browning would like to differ.
Just don't ND into anyone's ass while cocking the hammer on a hot chamber.
