Interesting, som say that here in old days (at least in my country, but i think it most hawe been common) they used nettles to make cloth for underwears even if they had linen cloths becas the nettle cloth was much softer and more comfortable to wear than woolen or tradidtional linen clothes.
If it was possible i had sped the rest of my life in the forest and newer went back again to the "civilisation" i think... :D Only place i realy like an feels like i belong there.
Must say I watched this video 2mins ago and went straight out in to te garden for some nettles, not gonna lie was a bit apprehensive at first but just grab the top and pulled it off, I did get stung regarding the bottom but crunched It up and chucked it in me mouth. Was a bit worried at first with the chewing but once I started I was quite surprised as it taste quite nice and will be trying that more often.
Great videos I love when you hit a small complication that you keep it in the video an
use sticks brother its easier. It is called spinning and plying. Use either a simple stick or a stick with a circular disk on the shaft called a whorl. Much much easier. A stick used for making cordage or yarn is called a spindle and they come in all shapes and sizes and can be crafted with just a pocket knife.
Very helpful instructional vid Sean, and a fantastic idea for making a bracelet once you've demonstrated the process to someone. I will definitely be doing this for my lady! An excuse to get her into the wilderness. :)
I'm a gay-friendly straight man and an honorary lesbian. I'm not offended by the "guys" references but bush crafts are also nice gifts for for straight and gay women to make and give one another. I'd be willing to bet the Tom-boys love your work. Peace Brother. You seem like like a good spirit, doing good work. but I'd like to go on record as saying, I think all people are the same for the most part. Anyway, thank you for spreading knowledge, as that's one of my favorite things. Cheers, SF
@seanmulhall Your welcome Brother. I think your heart's in the right place. You seem like like a kind man, with much wisdom and I thank you again for sharing with us. You're a gentlemen and scholar in my book.
Another good video, very informative easy to follow

Gotta love nettles, I have eaten quite a lot of them during the summer, but never like that raw! Gotta try that next summer.
I guess it's not too late to harvest nettle stalks now for cordage? They have bloomed and seeded and are getting quite brown.
