Luckily me and my mother found out what he was doing and no one got hurt. At the time we were barely able to put food on the table, and this pushed my stepdad to be desperate. Even if we hadn't been poor and had made a decent living, them scamming my stepdad would have not only affected him but would have affected his kids and wife.

So, is it right that spouses and children should suffer because one person in the family was gullible/greedy? I think not. No excuse for taking food out of children's mouths. Also it is correct that many pose as cancer patients needing money for chemo. operations, medications etc... Even some really sick ones claiming to be hitmen or hackers and threatening to kill people or hack their system and screw up their life, or kill their family if they do not send them money. Still admire these guys?

Um, not all of these people are greedy. I've never fallen for the crap, but I had a family member who did years ago. They sent fake checks and everything. Luckily me and my mother found out what he was doing and no one got hurt. At the time we were barely able to put food on the table, and this pushed my stepdad to be desperate. Even if we hadn't been poor and had made a decent living, them scamming my stepdad would have not only affected him but would have affected his kids and wife.

I'm from the U.S. and totally agree. Where I work, we have Western Union Money Transfers, and it's amazing to see how many dumbasses come up sending $400 to Nigeria because they won a car.
