The French never controlled the us, they were just important allies. Nor did they create the US. They just supported us out of spite for the British.
The US and its system were the antithesis of European politics. When most of Europe was controlled by monarchies, we created a representative democracy. And Europeans moved to the US not to bring Europe here, but to escape Europe and start a new life. Being of European descent doesn't mean you can attribute their accomplishments to modern Europe.

Our GDP per capita is higher, and despite the fact that you talk about US debt all the time, US debt is actually lower in proportion to our income.
