Spirit was the last album I bought of hers. It's kinda weird to hear her doing a country song, but I like it more than the pop stuff she was releasing before. The second half of the video is better than the first - that's the Jewel I first fell in love with. Barefoot with a guitar, in a long bohemian dress. Simple, perfect, Jewel. She was my role model and hero when I was younger, and I'm remembering now how incredible she is. Also, I always admired that she didn't correct her teeth.

Musicians cannot stay the same forever. Then their music would become flat and no one would like it. I don't think this song sounds detached. However in almost all of her music videos Jewel has had dead eyes. She doesn't convey emotion well in her videos.
