Brock was never a real well rounded mixed martial artist. He was fast, big, and could wrestle but if someone could neutralize his size and wrestling, he had nothing. A K1 striker like Overeem who also had a grappling base and the strength to match up against Brock meant disaster for the WWE star.

I wouldn't go that far. JDS is the real deal. Overeem will not finish JDS that quickly. In fact, JDS could KO/TKO Overeem. JDS has never been stopped with strikes; Overeem has been rocked several times. Overeem's a much better all around fighter now, but his loses have shown that his chin is not solid. JDS is probably the hardest hitting heavyweight there is.

Sure he is strong and sure it granted him the chance to fight and win a few but Brock knows just as I knew that the way he has been losing and the way he has been winning reveals him to be a free lunch for most the guys in his weight class. I dont like him leaving but it is a very wise decision from a young seasoned man.

@TheXXLethal It was an emotonal decision. This happens a lot. He will come back. I think he just won't get over it. He'll want to have at least another good fight, even if he loses that one, too, as long as he feels he's given his best. So many fighters do retire, and every year they have to mentally force themselves to suppress the urge to fight again. Now, a lot of fighters do eventually lose that urge. But Brock will never get over that last fight. He knows he's better.

Even though the odds are against Brock, you never know. The obvious dumb thing to do would be to stand and trade. If he could utilize his wrestling to gain positions for ground and pound and/or work on his submissions.. it could go either way. I think Overeem found himself lately to overpower most of his opponents when thinks ended up on the ground. He may find it to be not so easy with Brock. If Brock doesn't shoot in the first 30sec.. it curtains!

If Brock lesnar has recovered from the surgery and his illness and back to his best when he first burst onto the scene he will defeat Alistair with ease. Back then he was able to take chair shots without falling down, doesn't get knockout easily by just punches and is able to pick up, slam people and F5 people like the undertaker with ease back in his wwe days.
