... the objectives will show up as arrows on your compass when you are near the direction that you need to travel in. The compass is the bar below your HP meter.

You have to set the gun hotkeys yourself, you highlight them and hold down the hotkey button (for PS3 it's the R3 button; not too sure about the PC version) and then you set it to whatever number you want (similar to DOOM and DN 3D's weapon hotkeys minus the fact you set them yourself).

You should look at the hotkeys in your manual.
