Our economy is weak recently due to two issues, gas prices and the mortgage crisis. Both are the result of the Democrats. Gas prices are high because Democrats won't allow us to drill here. About a month ago, Bush proposed lifting the ban on offshore drilling and oil Prices dropped $50 a barrel and gas prices dropped $0.70/gallon. If talking about lifting the ban on oil drilling resulted in that much of a drop in prices, what do you think would happen if we actually started drilling?

Regarding the mortgage crisis, several years ago, the Democrats started whining about how unfair it was that poor people couldn't afford houses and proposed regulating the mortgage industry. To avoid a takeover of their industry, the Mortgage companies created subprime mortgages and now we can all see what happened. Big surprise, the people who couldn't afford their houses are losing them because they can afford their mortgages. Another well-meaning government cure that's worse than the disease.

Unfortunately it's even worse for these people now than if they never got the house in the first place. If Democrats had left the situation alone, these people could have continued to save their money and been able to afford a house in the future. Now having lost their houses because they couldn't afford them, they have now wrecked their credit rating and will probably never be able to buy a house again. Nice going Democrats!

As opposed to the Democrats using the fear of high gas prices, the fear of low taxes and the fear of a recession to motivate the over-educated, non-thinking people of their party. BTW, not everybody thinks that the war was about oil; if it was, gas prices should be going down or we should at least be getting some of our oil from Iraq. Those 4000 dead you mentioned, volunteered to be part of the military and were equipped to deal with the situation. What about the 3000 that died on 9/11 because of the failures of the Clinton administration to deal with Bin Laden when they had the chance. BTW, Clinton managed to avoid the war as well; Bush at least volunteered for service, something that Clinton didn't do.

Regarding Bush, you can argue all you want about whether Bush did enough in service to his country, but at least he went and did something, unlike Bill Clinton.
