Buy the kit and do it at home. Read instructions, follow through and you'll get the same results. What you don't understand nowadays can always be googled up. The process may seem long, but the difficulty of the procedure is not tedious whatsoever. Save yourself a hundred bucks or two, knowlegde up :)
@c0uchsl0uch this treatment is NOT something you can buy cheaply at a products store. Sure, you can get the shampoo and conditioner for upkeep, but the treatment itself is not available without professional training.
I'm not sure if this asked before, and sorry if it has! I was wondering...can you do any other styling after its straightened? Like, if you wanted to put some curls in it, does it hold or fall out? I have semi wavy frizzy hair that if I want it to look nice I have to blow dry, but I do like to curl it every once in awhile. I had heard that once you do this, it won't really curl anymore. Have you tried it and had any luck?
@laurendorsett My hair has really never held a curl even when it was natural or just dyed. but I've found that using a ceramic curling rod keep the curl until you wash your hair (even days!) its crazy amazing. so yes, its possible to still style it. its been about 8 months since my last treatment and before i go out i just run the flat iron thru it and bend in the ends and it stays nicely and looks so pretty :)
You should try to do the natural hair wrapping, the dobbie, and go to sleep with it. When you wake up, it's straigh. No chemical, no heat, no nothing, just like our grandmothers did.
Thanks! You do need touchups for the growth so you dont look all puffy at the roots. I actually got mine done yesterday!
I had mine done with a new treatment called 'bio ionic' which my new hairdresser said is better for the hair, so i'm excited.
She redid all of the hair, which was nice because it did get a bit frizzy over time just from normal wear and tear. She charged me 400, which was an incredible deal and she said it would usually run 6-800 for my hair because I have so much. Good luck!
This might be a silly question, but is thermal straightening different to a straight 'perm'? I straighten my hair daily (it is just wavy and frizzy naturally), so have wanted permanent straightening for years! but my hairdresser won't do it for me. I have asked and they said it was the same as a perm- only straight, not curly? So it might be different to what you had done??? or do you think it is the same thing? She said it is too damaging, but daily hot iron is probably not great either.... :)
It's not the same and is well worth googling. You'll need to find a different hair dresser who knows more about these things and has been trained and licensed to do the japanese style straightening system. There are a couple different ones out there, but its not cheap and its not the same as the kind they use for curls. My hair is incredibly healthy now, and I haven't used my flat iron in a year. SO HAPPY!
Wow, it sounds great. I had read a lot, so thought it sounded good, but then my hairdresser was very intent on persuading me to change my mind. I think I will def find somewhere else. I want to travel next year in some humid regions, but I don't want to have to pack a GHD. And there is no way I can leave my hair natural in humid conditions! Thanks, I will look into it in my area :)
400. because my hair is long, thick, and i had 2 treatments done because half my hair was dyed the other half was just growing out. it took about 4 hours. so not bad, not bad at all! i've heard of people paying 750
I was wondering though.. how long does it stay that way? Beucase my hair is extremely wavy and it usually curls up after I wash it. What happens when you do it this way?
I got it done about a year ago and it's still just as straight as the day it was done. I shower and let it air dry then brush it and its perfectly straight. Used to be all wavy and kinky and different textures and thicknesses making it impossible to deal with. SO glad I had this done, would recommend it to anyone! Thinking of going in again soon to get my root growth done as all new growth comes out naturally curly, but all treated hair stays stick straight forever!
no no, none fell out at all. it was even healthier after the treatment, and is still amazingly straight and healthy a year later. i've had it highlighted and dyed before and that was always bad for it. this treatment uses good science, but you MUST get someone good at it. as i recommended the person above you do, check yelp or something to make sure the person is certified and has good reviews. happy straightening!
yeah, totally look into it! i'm glad you've been listening so far. make sure you check reviews and make sure the person is licensed! search yelp for someone in your area that does it right :)
Nope. Hair is still good. better even! I paid 400 (incl tip), but I had 2 different treatments on diff parts of the hair, because I'm growing it out and they had to use one on the dyed hair and one on the new hair. Plus my hair is really long and thick. But I think it generally costs around 300. You should do it! You'll love it! I wish I hadn't waited
Permanently! The straightened hair will always be straight. Any new growth is the normal wavey or whatever it was. So I'll have like kinky roots, but all straight the rest of the way. And they can redo the roots so that is straight too!
i got it done also, and u wana wait 3 days b4 u put it in a ponytail or get it wet. a LOT of salons do it. ps-u dnt hav long hair. I have long hair-mines about 25 inches long and i got it for $300 so u shuldnt b talking.
uh.. ok. sorry for "talking" on my own comments? i guess its medium-long. ANYWAYS it still took a while because of the separate treatments. i hope you like yours!
I've relaxed it before and it neither helps nor lasts longer than a month. It couldn't be straighter and there was NO head damage. It's a process that changes the electrical bonding in the amino acids in the hair. It's the safest method available for straightening your hair. Do some research, k thanks!
I waited a couple days, just to make sure, before I washed my hair. Don't touch it too much after you get it done, haha you don't want it all greasy while you have to wait.
cost about $400 for my long hair, with seperate treatments on my colored hair and my new hair. it lasts until it's been grown out nad cut off. like.. it will never curl back up, just whatever new hair grows out will be how it was before
Looks great, but you'd even be hot looking with a head of curls! I have friends with long straight hair that wish they had a Robert Plant curly mop on their heads!
yes! it's stayed very straight and wonderful. I'm loving it and growing it out again, and its sooo low maintenance. if you can afford it, you should totally invest in this treatment! I'm mad at myself for waiting so long and always feeling self-conscious about my hair!

I just bought a chi flat iron today and i got it from walmart for $100 (:

@casagrandecats No, this is not a regular product! This is a long, intensive treatment that can only be done in a salon.

I've had my hair relaxed before but it wasn't Japanese thermal reconditioning. Is there a difference in chemicals?

Yeah, very different. Not damaging like the sulfur hydroxides or whatever they offer in grocery stores.
