  • @TheFrogman117 Red Hot Chili Peppers - A Dutch Connection

  • @TheFrogman117

    How about you try Google?

  • Official site (in Dutch) with the video was the 2nd non-youtube result for me. So, as a rule of thumb, try Google first. You can find anything with Google if you, well, take the exhausting whole five seconds to enter the search terms...

  • The face John makes when he's singing the bassline is so great hahahaha

  • Funkiest shit they've ever writen, Y U NO LIKE???

  • @PriestOfUhrrfass are you saying californication is a bad album?!

  • john seems a lot different back in this interview, before he had his whole falling off the face of the earth heroin thing

  • "Wait a secound here!..." (0:35) lol

  • HAHAH john's so cute here:D trying to convince the interviewer to like the song:D

  • Frusciante is GOD

  • I love this interview here. John has two quotes that will always stay with me:

"It all started with Anthony sitting on my couch playing one of my guitars and goes: 'Hey John, check out this rhythm I made up, its a cool rhythm, watch (goes on to play it). I'm like yeah, right, it sounds great, than I walked into the other room. But than it stuck in my head, that rhythm and I realized like whoa that IS a cool rhythm. Than this melody popped into my head and than I went........"

  • I feel bad I'm gonna have to kick this guy's ass for not liking Funky Monks...

  • john was so immature and beautiful... beautiful person i mean..

  • this interview of those 2 guys is pure awesomeness, every word they say is awesomeness

  • charles mingus t-shirt.... gotta find me one of those

  • what the fuck is up with the interviewer???

if i would be an interviewer i wouldn tell that i dont like some of their songs.

    cuz i m a fucking interviewer

  • @k0stil he was also a friend of theirs, especially with john i think. He wouldn't have accepted anyone else do the interview in 1994, with him on drugs. I am sure this is the same guy who did that interview - the voice's the same. Anyway, even if he wasn't friends with them, he's still cool for saying that.

  • @TehSorso

You're correct; it is the same guy. His name is Bram van Splunteren, and he's done various documentaries on the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The latest one was released in 2007, and is the same one that featured this clip. In this latest documentary, he only interviews Flea. To be honest, I don't think the other guys want much to do with Bram. He's kind of...well...Dutch.

  • 0:42 click here if you john to sing a sexy bass line to you

  • man, is so funny when johnny says "i feel so bad he doesn't like funky monks" and stop to think about the song and then he interrupt the conversation with that "WAIT A SECOND HERE!"

  • I love John.He's cool . . .

  • more importantly: i love john's grin at 1:00 after he says "that song you hate"

  • How can you dislike John? he is the fucking man, I love how he gets so excited to explain how funky monks came up... masterpiece!!

  • dude.. thanks for uploading the video, but you gotta calm down...just because some people aren't aware of every piece of RHCP media ever released doesn't mean they're ignorant. i definitely wouldn't call the release dates of dutch documentaries on the RHCP common knowledge.

im just saying maybe you shouldn't get so enraged over an understandable confusion. maybe at the top of your video description you could write "Original interview 1992", just to avoid further anger?

  • @danielinsporto

Wow, son. You really didn't understand a single word of what I wrote in the info, did you? Go ahead, read it again. Let it sink in. You will find a refutation to every single thing you said already written there, and a rebuttal to every contortion of reality you have espoused.

  • @mrscojoe lol quit being a nerd and just love the music, ur too into the details, it's just about the music and the love for the band, so smarten' up a little, maybe even mature some ;)

  • @spiros11386

Exactly. It's about the music. That's why I posted the video. Take note, now, because you didn't before. You see those first two lines of the info? That's all that was there for two years. That nice big chuck came only a month or two ago when OTHERS that were "into the details" began spamming my inbox and my channel.

Take a word of your own advice, son. You're having trouble distinguishing reality from baseless conjecture. Please, don't be tjafsigt on my channel.

  • @mrscojoe actually, you're the one who makes conjectures when you assume that everyone who watches your videos is a dedicated Chilis fan and, that every RHCP fan will have knowledge of the VPRO documentaries.

i was merely suggesting a reasonable solution to the problem that you have gotten so worked up over, a simple note in the description that doesn't have to be a 6-paragraph rant that makes you sound like a conceited dick.

but it seems pretty clear that you cannot be reasoned with, "dad".

  • @danielinsporto

Yes, as I clearly stated in the info: "I figured that those watching this video would be pretty good fans...and familiar with the various documentaries". And did I not say that my assumption was grossly in error? Congratulations on repeating me.

You solution is not at all reasonable - modifying to an incorrect title will preclude those who wish to find VPRO 2007 clips from finding this. It's a point of principle: asking someone to lie to satiate the ignorant.

  • @danielinsporto

You may reason with me if you use reasonable arguments. Asserting that one should alter his comportment in the face of controversy to conform to the whims of those who make erroneous assertions based in ignorance is not reasonable and it is immoral. They tell me I am wrong when I am right. I tell them that they are wrong, and you insult me for being steadfast and curt towards their inexactitudes?

I have no patience for the illogical and the meek, son. Just the way it is.

  • @danielinsporto

If you make (likely erroneous) extrapolations of my emotional state, you should avoid repeating conjectures therewith, as you will repeat the same, redundant fallacies (cwhatididthar?).

But make no mistake: it is not my intention to insult you. If you feel that I am curt or harsh towards you, it is because I do not wish to repeat what you called "a 6-paragraph rant that makes you sound like a conceited dick", and yet I find myself doing so every few weeks. Is that more clear?

  • @mrscojoe sure. you're just not understanding my suggestion. i never said, change the title. i said, add to the top of the video description a short note that reads something like "recorded in 1992". that is accurate, requires little effort, and it could probably avoid you having to repeat yourself so frequently.

and i also think you could be a bit less rude, yes, but i guess everyone has the right to be an asshole if they feel they should.

  • @danielinsporto

I know that that may seem like a reasonable compromise, but a compromise in the first place is completely unnecessary and unwarranted. Such a change would only be done to appease and satiate those who lack the initiative and/or brain capacity to click the info button. I disdain the spamming of keywords and titles. All the necessary info is already there. If someone wants to make a proverbial leap before looking, that's his prerogative. It's not my job to accommodate them.

  • @mrscojoe alright then. anyway, once again, thanks for the upload, im sure you know we all appreciate it.

  • THAT IDIOT DOESN'T LIKE FUNKY MONKS ...I WANT TO KILL HIM

  • This guy is a fucking dick, he didn't like Funky Monks...

  • i love this story

    its so true! :D

  • What did John and Anthony say at 0:10 - 0:14

  • @CuteHotChiliPeppers

"Oh, Funky Monks he doesn't like. Good guitar solo in that, though."

    "Hello!"

  • @mrscojoe Oh...thanks :)

  • the only thing that "stucks in my head" is how someone can not love funky monks

  • it was in 1992 ..

    2007 xd

  • @booo115

Please, you witless, monosyllabic troglodyte, before you go full retard again, read the description.

    Fucking toolbag.

  • I wish today's *ahem* "musicians" didn't fucking limit themselves and were as cool as these guys!

  • That doesn't look like John Frsciante :/

  • @razhidiz

Yes, it does, because it is, in fact, John Frusciante.

  • @mrscojoe Yes I know that.. I'm just saying that he changed a lot..

  • @razhidiz

No offense intended, mate. I knew what you meant; I was just jokingly patronizing you.

  • @mrscojoe yes ofcourse.... I'm still a chilis noob learning more and more about them...

  • That doesn't look like John Frsciante :/

  • John:Wait a second here( really out of nowhere)

    Anthony: What?

    HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA (Y)

  • WAIT A SECOND HERE...

  • I want that shirt

  • @Woooahs

The Mingus one? I don't remember which interview it was, but John once said that Charles Mingus was the only man to have sex with 24 women in one night.

  • @Woooahs

I posted a link to that interview in the video info if you're interested in that quote I was talking about.

  • "here's the whole reason we wrote that song (that you don't like)"

    hahaha

  • dude, can you upload this video, but with subtitles in spanish please???? plisssssssssssssss!!!!

  • and every since than it was all history

  • He doesn't like Funky Monks? They should've tossed him into the fuckin' water.

  • if u watch john from the beginning till 00:33 u can really see how the "wqait a second here..." comes up from nowhere

  • @IgibDAane i noticed that too, made me laugh, hahaa

  • omg, my new favorite video!! lol

haha, hell yea, i love him sooo much!

  • @kdgnrtd ba du ba ba baw bah ba duh ba baw xD

  • johns personality seems so different now

  • @rockingrobot Drugs and enlightenment can do that to a person.

  • Best video ever

  • hahaha john is so classic in this video i love it.. but seriously.. how the fuck can that guy NOT like Funky Monks??

  • Take down the 2007 in the title. it's very misleading.

  • @neotri45

No, it's not. This excerpt is from VPRO 2007. The title is 100% correct.

  • Comment removed

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW

No. I am absolutely serious and 100% correct. Dutch filmmaker (hence the subtitles) Bram van Splunteren made a series of documentaries on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, entitled "VPRO", released in 1988, 1990, 1994, and in 2007. Though filmed in 1992, this particular excerpt is from VPRO 2007, a version which spans the band's entire career.

Giving an erroneous title would be deceitful and make it difficult for fans to find the original material from which this clip came.

  • Comment removed

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW

You need to really re-read what I wrote both in the comments and in the info. There is something here that you're really having a hard time comprehending, and I'm sure the lengthy explanation should clear that up.

  • Comment removed

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW

The clip was FILMED in 1992. It is FROM 2007. It seems that several people have difficulty in making that distinction. VPRO Thema: Red Hot Chili Peppers, or simply VPRO, is the title of the program. Due to multiple releases, an addition of the respective release date, 2007, is included.

Take this following example into consideration. If I make a WWII documentary and use era footage, should I say that my documentary is from 1945? No. I'll put the date that I released it.

  • Comment removed

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW

Son, that is common knowledge and was both already posted and stated. You are the only person to have such great difficulty in understanding that. Don't take your frustration of your own ineptitude out on me.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, Freak, that song is unbelievable, I love that lick. yEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZ

  • I dunno what to say about that dude,im speechless

  • What an oddball interviewer,

Funky Monks is a gem of a song amongst the whole outstanding continuous musical journey of this album, of which Funky Monks is an unomitable step.

It's truly a gem of a song I'm truly surprised, as John is here, that anyone (even a Dutchman) could have any reproaches about it.

I've often turned the volume up when I knew that it was about to start.

  • class one of my all time best albums and by far the best chili album out of them all

  • brilliant artists.

  • noone should hate anything on BSSM

  • that song is soo god damn funky!

  • YOU DONT LIKE FUNKY MONKS?!

  • @pedrobenevides1 FUNKY MONKS

john-" wait a second here you dont like the fuckin bassline at the end of the song, the outro BADOOPADOOP DOOP DO DA"
