Yes but 2 others that were with him who gave 5 page statements after the incident were declared hostile witnesses as one changed his story completly and the other claimed that he could no longer remember the incident! Nothing was done about them lying! The matter was heard in magistrates court because the accused was only charged with 2 x AOBH instead of 2 x GBH! The magistrate found that my friend (who was on holiday both of us in our 40's had actively pursued a gang of 5 20 year olds)
Cont'd Apaarently we were drunk and even though I got my Police badge out and asked the accused to back away he was sufficiently threatened to punch my friend and I unconcious (i suffered spinal damage and my friend a broken shoulder) No JUSTICE! I got in the dock and the defense lawyer scum was allowed to attack me on the basis that I was a greedy man with bad teeth and a bad neck who was making it all up for compensation purposes! Yes I am bitter but i still have to carry on believing in good!

With the exeption of London officers (just) starting wage for a cop is below the national avarage. But it takes a higher than avarage commitment to do what they do. I would argue that its not the police but the courts liberal sentencing that makes criminal justice a mockery. You may have had a poor experience, but mark my words, the UK police rank with among the best in the world.

Being a pizza delivery or postman is far more dangerous thatn being a policeman.
