  • whatsize mesh do you use for the tops of the tubs?

  • Oi rats love attention and put them in a proper cage

  • Rats will breed even if they are stressed.. Stressing them out is keeping them in tiny cages constantly breeding. It's perfectly fine to play with them, infact they love to be loved!

  • What if a feed my boa a pregnant mouse? It will be bigger than normal and will be packed with more protein but will it be safe?

  • @swimmer4lifeist it would be fine they would eat it in the wild wouldn't they

  • do u get your rats at petsmart?

  • I have one male and female rat------the male is sick but semi recovering, do you happen to know if they will still mate even if under the weather?

  • "Don't constantly play with your rats." No, it won't stress them out, it will stress them out to keep them in small containers and take their babies away way too early. Also, for humane reasons, look into gassing them to pre kill them (you sick fuck).

  • The baby you picked up would make a great pet

  • do u have any problams with them biting thru the tubs as i used the same last year and lost every rat i had as they bit thru them

  • If you put vanillea extract in there water they wont stink it sounds silly but it works !!

  • Can I use pieces of newspaper for bedding? I just started with 5 rats and this is my first time breeding them. I am also a snake breeder

  • aww the two baby rats together :)

  • Do you need that big of tubs? Because, that is pretty big for like only 1 mother. Haha

  • for them if you want them to go faster and bigger feed them rats the first time they are born or small and you will see the difference in your snake and you don't have to feed more then one appopriet size rat every feeding day unless your snake is over 8 feet which my red tail boa female is 10 foot i got her free from some people who were afraid of her so she is getting fatter and healthier now she will be eating prekilled rabbits when my females produce some babies for me.

  • If you raised them as babies and they know you they don't mind you playing with them or there babies i have had most of my females all their lifes and i mess with them and there babies and they don't care what i do with them but i have been breeding for at least 2 to 3 years i was breeding rats when i was 18 and now i am 22 almost 23 years old. but yeah rats are way easier then mice they breed faster and i have two red tails so i don't feed them mice because rats are way better then mice by far

  • I do 1.6 to 1.7 and leave them in there for about 2 weeks and they are all nocked up when i take them out and place them in the 40 gallon breeder tank i use to have my snake in but i got rid of him to a good home. but yeah you can use up to 12 females to 1 male but it takes longer for the male to get them knocked up but yeah that is what i use.

  • @stephanieejade

snakes would just kill the same amount of rats in the wild

  • @stephanieejade The difference is that he breed rats and you keep rats.

  • howd you make the hopper, ive been looking everywhere for food grates and cant find anything.. i have a rack but also throw some food in there.

  • is it the same with mice

  • lol u said weiner

  • how long are they pregnat for and then how long should i let them drink thier moms milk

  • how did you make your tubs??

  • sisters?

  • @Jamieleag He was in with his three female litter mates. (Sisters) Inbreeding is not bad in rats.

  • @davidhamiltonreptile although it is not nearly as bad as in other species, it can still produce sickly rats. in truth though... when breeding for food it really doesnt matter

  • @davidhamiltonreptile agreed dont mater any way raily as guner be etern any how lol

  • @davidhamiltonreptile Inbreeding is extremely bad in rats! The babies will come out very poorly bred and if it's bad enough there lifespan goes way down. Inbreeding for snakefood is different but don't sell them as pets if they are inbred!

  • @davidhamiltonreptile it is bad the babies can be defomerd

  • lol, weiner babies....=X

  • where do you get your rodent food from???

  • @BobTheBlakeanimals From a farm supply store. Just ask if they carry mazuri rodent breeder 6F

  • how big are the tubs you used???

  • @22amerson 66 quart tubs

  • Nice video a lot of info ima update my video tomorrow on my rats tell me wat u think thanks

  • update pls

  • Picking up by the tail is bad, im not trying to be rude you seem nice. But considering your feeding their babies away, maybe you could consider putting some wheels in there, i mean, read this comment to your wife, i bet shed agree, your daughter mother, aunt cousin, if you are going to feed themaway, give them the last few moments ever, a wheel, chew toys, and some fun things, lookon craigslist or ebay, lots of stuff for super cheap... :)

  • @xXxXlilshadyxXxX Thanks for the advice. I do give them chew toys and I make sure they're always on clean bedding. I also now prekill my rats with gas so they don't have to go through the pain of being fed to a snake. I really do try to take great care of the rats before I feed them off. I want the rats to suffer as little as possibe while making sure it stays cost effective. I pick them up by the tail because some of them try and bite. Thanks for the comment :)

  • does the mother notice when you take her babies away?

  • @xXxXlilshadyxXxX She does at first but she is more worried about the remaining babies.

  • #1-Don't get attached to your food

Pine is the only sensible way to go, my friend.

Build a rack! Things are So SO so much easier with a rack. I remember how nasty and dirty my tub days were. Plus with a rack, you can get the big tubs for breeder tubs. I keep 2-3males together, that have been raised up together, in with up to 10 females. And TRUST ME, they get the job done!

Yeah, 3 females to a tub is optimal, as they will care for each others young when 1 needs a break. 4 is just to many though.

  • @rephibiankid I was going to use pine but where I live it's the same price as aspen. I'm working on my rack right now and can't wait to get it done. Thanks for the tips. Please subscribe to my Channel.

  • Nice vid man ...just a recommendation for ya...when I built my rat rack, production has gone way up from when I just had tubs .....I don't know why but maybe something you could try .....it is a lot easier when it comes to cleaning and everything also pretty easy to make too

  • @LasVegasBalls Thanks. I'm mainly looking for it to be easier to clean. If I get more production i'll be happy with that too.

  • @davidhamiltonreptile I dont know if you have taken a look at my video on my rat rack yet or not but it is only a 3 tub rack and it supplies enough for my 9 snakes. I have added more females since the video because I will be getting some more snakes soon. I will probably be adding another rack soon so I can get rid of the big tub and cage for a weaned rat holder.

  • I'm seriously thinking about breeding the only thing that is stopping me is the smell. If I do I probably start with rats just 3 female and 1 male, and with mice 6 females and 2 males.

  • @rednosepit301 The smell can get bad. just make sure you have good ventilation and you change the bedding often. I started with just 1 Male and 3 Females. I currently do not breed mice. No need but I may in the future. Also don't buy a cage at a pet store. Just make a couple tubs and you'll be set.

  • Another very informative video I want to start breeding my own rats. For my collection can't wait for future videos

  • @MrJerrylee1974 Thanks. I'll have another one up soon.
