Having seen videos of Wellstone in action, I think not committing to honor his goals and what he stood for would have been the biggest sham of the Wellstone Memorial.

The memorial was horrifying. Wellstone's son had just lost his father, mother, and sister, and all he was concerned about was the upcoming election. A person with a conscience and a heart would have been too devastated to talk, but he was in full campaign mode. Truly one of the most disturbing spectacles I have ever seen.

What's your point? I've actually read this book (I've read all of Al's books) He admits that the rally was at times political. That "The memorial was raucous and a couple of speakers said some things that were inappropriate - basically, let's win this (upcoming Senate) election for Paul." His point in that chapter is that the Republicans were actually the ones who politicized the memorial, which is absolutely true. Fox News had a field day, and the GOP ran with it.
